Pork topped potato.
Tim A.

First thing I notice when I walked in was the contemporary Christian music playing and a sign that tennis is that Jesus is Lord. That was enough to gain 1 star in my book. I love a business that is willing to share their faith. Parking is a little odd. You pass building and park around back. Not a problem, just different. I was seated right away and the server got my drink right away. I had the pork topped baked potato. I ordered and in 3 minutes it was on my table. The potato was cooked perfect, there was a ton of pork as well as the other toppings like cheese and bacon. Before I ordered i asked if the pork was sliced, chopped or pulled. Pulled is my last favorite way to eat pork. She told me it was chopped so I stayed worth the pork. I would have ordered beef if she said it was pulled but it is definitely pulled. It wasn't bad just not my first choice. They have a hot bbq sauce with really good flavor that i recommend. The server came around regularly and my experience was good. It is really close to the airport, I would come again.

The wings were amazing! Got the dry rub and they were lip smacking good!! The chopped chicken and beef definitely needed sauce. Green beans were good and a little spicy. The lady at the drive thru window was super nice. Would come back for those wings for sure!!

Very established BBQ restaurant in Brainerd area that has been around for at least 35 years. They have had that staying power for good reason. Good food, friendly service, nice portions, makes for a good all around dining experience. The BBQ is better than most for sure. Sides are good, slaw is a little too mayonnaisey for my taste, but that's me. Potato salad is good as are the baked beans. Onion rings are also better than average and definitely worth a try as are their fries! All in all, if you are in the area and craving Q, Rib & Loin is worth a stop.

Very nice people and good amount for the money. Sadly, you absolutely need bbq sauce for the brisket. Everything was good and hot and served nicely. I had plenty at lunch that I didn't eat dinner. The fried okra was really good and fried well. Well pleased with cooks for putting my tomato, pickle and mayo on the side. Probably if it would have had more seasoning, I would not have used the mayo and pickles. It is not horrible but I have definitely had better. Always nice to try a non-chain restaurant when traveling.

According to my friend that lives in Chattanooga, Rib and Loin is the hometown favorite for BBQ. Rib and Loin was voted best BBQ in Chattanooga from 2008-2016. It was very busy for a Sunday at lunch. The decor makes you think of a log cabin. When you go to the bathroom, there are logos 4 SEC teams hanging up. I thought it was hilarious that Auburn wasn't one of them since I am a Bama fan. Anyway, on to my entree. I went with the 3 meat combo of ribs, pork, and beef with sides of slaw and beans. The first meat I had was the ribs. Well Rib and Loin proved it lives up to its name. The ribs were hands-down the best meat on my plate. They were spare ribs with a good baste on them with just an excellent grilled taste. If I come back to Rib and Loin, I will be getting just the ribs. The beef and pork was good but was very pale in comparison to the ribs. The pork and beef came chipped. I think the pork was a little bit better. It seemed the seasoning just sank in better with the pork. There are 2 sauces. Both went well with all the meats and were tomato base. The regular is a mild, not very sweet but tangy sauce. The 2nd is a hot sauce and for a guy that loves some heat, the heat was substantial from the hot BBQ sauce. The slaw was very creamy and sweet. The beans were made from scratch and had a smoky, BBQ flavor to them. I usually order potato salad but I asked the waiter if it had celery in it. He said he thought so. He should make a note that there is a ton of celery in the potato salad. If you hate celery like me, stay away from it here. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Rib and Loin is a solid choice for BBQ in Chattanooga. But I am afraid it is the sentimental choice for many to call it the best BBQ in Chattanooga. The ribs might be the best and the rest is pretty good.

Stopped in for my first time. Ordered a small pulled pork Sammy. Dry, dry, dry. No flavor. Expected more from here.

If you pull at the meat, there's a solid chance all of it will come right off the bone. I ordered spare ribs and corn, and both came out very quickly. The ribs were obviously the highlight, but the corn was really good too. Since you order at a counter near the entrance, it's a little hard to fully rate the service, but the process was simple and efficient. They also gave us cabbage to feed the goats outside, which was unique and fun. The seating area is near windows with a great view of the mountains, which makes the experience even better. I downloaded Yelp just to write this review, so that should say enough. Definitely recommend Sugar's Ribs, especially for the spare ribs.

Neither were sauced and while the sauces on the table were plentiful, they were watered down. Too liquid to really stick to the meat and provide any flavor. Sad because the options looked interesting yet fell flat on taste. I absolutely loved the location. Up on hill, overlooking the skyline of Chattanooga was a beautiful site. It offered a relaxing diner feel with a good amount of space to enjoy my meal without other patrons being on top of me.

Everything was so good and tasted like your family made it for you. Some standout items: the coleslaw is super finely chopped which gives it a really good texture, flavor is great. The potato salad was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The pork was so Smokey and tender. Their sauce is super great, would pour that on everything. The fried okra was so tasty, we ate every piece. They have so much cheese in the poppers, delicious. If you're passing through the East Ridge area of Chattanooga, I highly suggest checking out this awesome spot for great food at an even better price. Thanks for the great experience!

The food was good, but the major drawback is that a large plate only had four ribs, one of which you could barely call a rib. The second, drawback for me is that the ribs came with sauce already on them. That's like a major no-no in my book. I know, everybody has their preference, but I prefer to sauce my own food if I feel that it's necessary. To be honest, barbecue should stand on its own without sauce and sauce should only be there to enhance the flavor. The meat was tender, but I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the meat because the sauce interfered with that. The pulled pork plate was good. Also, my girlfriend said she enjoyed that. But again, sauce should come on the side in my opinion. I have no real complaint against this place, but I wish I had known ahead of time that the ribs came with sauce on them and I wish that I had known that there were only four ribs on the plate, I would've ordered a whole rack. Prices are good, the place is clean, and as I said, the owners are very welcoming and warm people. Give this place a go, it's worth a trip! But just ask questions before you order!

We pulled up right at 5:00 when they opened and were surprised to see a line already waiting outside the door. That's usually a pretty good sign. We waited about 30 minutes before ordering, but nobody seemed too surprised -- clearly this place has a following. It had that small-town, no-frills BBQ-joint feel, and between the line out front, the smoking grill, and the first bite of ribs, it felt like we had found one of those places people know about for a reason. We had the three-meat sampler with ribs, brisket, and sausage. It was plenty of food and a great way to try the menu. The ribs and sausage had a nice kick to them and did not disappoint. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket was lean, cooked just right, and full of flavor. Robert runs a great operation. He took our order, served up the meats, and he and his crew kept everything moving in a friendly and welcoming way. There were Georgia, Texas, and Carolina sauces on the table, and honestly, all three were good. Nothing fancy or overdone here -- just solid barbecue that tastes like folks know what they're doing. It's not just good local BBQ. It's worth going out of your way for. Glad we made the drive. Wardlaw's is the real deal.

The fried chicken came out hot, crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. You could literally see the juices coming out of the chicken, and every bite was delicious. The walls were covered in dollar bills and license plates, which gave the restaurant a lot of character and made it feel like a place with stories to tell. We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.

So, as I was told by the staff, the restaurant portion has been spun off and sold from the brewery itself, so this is my first visit for food, since that has transpired. It is now known as "BUDS & BREWS CHATTANOOGA", part of a larger group out of Nashville, I was told. The bar/brewery looks the same, there is the same helpful staff, but in all honesty, the food just isn't as good. The pulled pork, was okay at best, the fried onion rings, just too greasy, and the chicken wings, just too dry. When first opened NR was the first microbrewery to prepare and offer their own food, and the bbq was stellar, but I cannot make that same statement today. Brews are still good, but if need a good microbrewery in Chattanooga that can offer you good food to go along with that cold one, my recommendation is either Oddstory or Five Wits. I'll continue to come to NR for a beer, as their Moonpie Stout is absolutely one of the best beers you can find in Chattanooga, but like I said if I am hungry too, this will no longer be one of my primary spots to consider.
