We decided to split a meal and ordered the 16 oz ribeye. It was cooked perfectly and came with an additional side and there was MORE than enough food! All I can say is come hungry! Overall it's about what you might expect for a small-town steakhouse. That said, I don't think it holds up to its current Yelp rating. The salad bar is basic - nothing special. The 20oz ribeye was fairly low quality meat for the price ($60). Their old fashion was tiny and basic (regardless of the alcohol you ask for). The waitress refused to split our bill - which I found a bit off putting. If I lived here, I might go back once in a blue moon, but it's not somewhere I would advise for anyone visiting Beaufort on vacation. read more

We are confused about a previous review that said the steak was over priced as we found the price very reasonable for the quality of the steak. We got the 16 oz split for two, and It was cooked to perfectlon. The salad bar and soups are very good. If I had one negative comment, it would be that the potato soup needed more salt, but I was able to add cheese and bacon from the salad bar. Not every restaurant would allow you to do that. Cocktail menu leaves much to be desired. I had a really cheap tallboy can of Goose Island IPA. As soon as I starting drinking from the can, I realized why they were on special. Really having a mystified time trying to understand their four star rating! Granted they haven't had twenty reviews yet, but I'm aware though that they've been around for at least a few years. We came in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and as soon as we came in I thought I'd made a mistake! The place was virtually empty, a divider partition was closing off part of the dining room and bar area, and the lights were off that gave you the idea that they were a struggling restaurant. The menu for lunch consisted of maybe eight items for which none really screams out at you as appealing. I settled on the 1/3 lb Cheeseburger and the unlimited Soup & Salad bar. The cheeseburger had a nice steakhouse smoky flavor and was served on a nice bun. The salad bar was ok, but it just seemed odd for where it sat in the restaurant, and the lack of any pizazz. The soup option was a loaded potato and tomato bisque. The potato soup was flavorless, was loaded due only to me loading it from the salad bar, wasn't very warm, but was made with real potatoes. The tomato bisque was the worst attempt at this soup that I'd ever had! It was thick to the similarity of tomato sauce, had a unique flavor that made it nearly impossible to eat, and lacked any warmth for your soul. All this to say, this was just a odd experience that gave off a vibe to me that this is a restaurant that has either given up, struggles through the off season, or hasn't found its lunch niche? So it may be a fabulous steakhouse, but I'd never know due to my odd lunch experience. read more

This is an interesting little place on Front Street in Beaufort NC. Turns out to be a regional franchise; the owner/chef is extremely motivated and works hard. Kudos to Mike. Service is very good across the board. Everyone was helpful and welcoming without being overbearing. I went in as a single diner and was seated in a dark corner near the kitchen which was a little off putting but not terrible. In fact the restaurant is set up so there really wasn't any issue. However as a frequent single diner carrying a book I sure appreciate being seating where I can actually read. On to the food. That's why we are here, isn't it? The salad bar is very well done, everything is fresh and quite good. You will want to pick your timing as while there are lots of choice the bar is small and the space can be overwhelmed for a few minutes from time to time. I had a small ribeye. It came with a daily special of a shrimp kabob (they call it a skewer). The shrimp got left on the griddle a little too long and was dry and rubbery. Mike is doing a lot in front of house and over the cooker so it isn't a surprise - shrimp can be overcooked in 30 seconds. He needs a little more help. For myself, I'd rather have shrimp a little cool and done right than cooked too much. The steak was outstanding. I ordered medium rare and that is exactly what I got. The meat was good (apparently from Omaha Steaks) to start with and cooked just right. The baked potato was also served just right. The restaurant itself is very pleasant. Up front you have a nice view across the street at Taylor Creek. In the back is a bar and lounge that has very comfortable seating, TVs for those so inclined, a subdued noise level that allows conversation, and some truly wonderful sofas for apres dinner lounging. I'm docked in Beaufort. My girl friend is coming down Sunday and we'll certainly dine at Ribeyes before we leave Beaufort headed North on the ICW. read more

Seriously, I don't know why this place isn't more popular. They're one of the only places around here that offers a lower calorie menu, and it's GOOD. They have scallops, shrimp, salmon, tuna, all seared, broiled and seasoned to perfection. They have a nice salad bar, with things you expect and don't expect, and it's fresh. My fiancé and I were spending some time in Emerald Isle and he's always loved this place. On initial sit down it wasn't too hectic but our waitress was a little scattered. I'm not sure if this was her first day or just her personality but she never put in our order or sent it to another table because 45 minutes later we didn't have any food. We asked another waitress for refills and to check up on our order. The manager came and checked on us, put in a fresh order, and checked on us regularly to make sure we were attended to the rest of our visit as well as continued to wait on other tables after our waitress was, I'm not sure, sent home maybe? I'm so glad she was as pleasant, helpful, and apologetic as she was because the food was amazing. The steak and pork chops were seasoned well and cooked to perfection! I've been to Ribeye's several times when vacationing at the beach. Usually food is very good along with the service. My last visit was on a Wednesday evening. It was just after Labor Day & not crowded due to being off season. After being seated it took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. Then another 20 minutes to receive our drinks. She apologized and asked if we were ready to order. She said she would send the chef over to take our order. Another long wait & the waitress returns asking if we are ready for the check. We tell her we haven't received our food yet. We finally received our food and it's ok but not like it has been in the past. It was warm but not hot and the baked potato had a slightly scorched taste. I don't plan on going back. There are too many other restaurants within walking distance to choose from. read more
