I was lucky enough to find this amazing salon recently and booked a same day appointment. I was elated that they had evening appointments. As a woman in medicine, it is impossible to make it to daytime appointments during the work week. I had a color and blow dry with Riccardo and Diana. They are both so welcoming and immediately made me feel comfortable. Riccardo took the time to evaluate my current color and suggest how to best move forward. I instantly trusted his assessment and gave him the freedom and permission to do what he felt was best for my hair. Diana was exceptional. She colored my hair and the wash was so relaxing. Not transparent in pricing, poor quality in talent, and horrible policy practices when you purchase any products from them. I can't recommend them. I'm so blessed and grateful to having the Best of the Best maintain my gorgeous blonde Light Chick locks. Thank you Brad Johns and his team plus Dinah - who is the Best stylist I have ever had on either coast. Well, Brad too for color but that goes without saying. He has the unique gift of being able to make your eye color pop with the coloring. I had never before encountered that gift. This salon is very conveniently located - ironic it's around the corner from where I used to get my hair done in boarding school - at a salon that was in the basement of the Plaza Hotel, like I've come full circle or something. Antonio Iaccarino is a stylist that is a pure artist. I actually travel to New York to have my hair cut, styled and colored. Shushan is GREAT! I followed here here from another salon, she has done my highlights for the past few years and does a FANTASTIC job! Very polite and professional, and has really brightened up my hair! Honestly, I think Shushan is one of the best colorists I've had, and I've been highlighting my hair for about 10 years now. She also has put me on a program of when I need to get my treatments done, so it's always easy to know what the cost will be each time you go. The salon is very neat and clean, they always offer you water or a cappuccino. Everyone is very happy there - always laughing/chatting/dancing around .. a very good vibe! I searched day and night for healthier keratin treatment options besides the Coppola and La Brasiliana keratin treatments and found the Lasio treatment which I decided was right for my hair (fine and curly). I've read many reviews on Oprah.com and countless websites about hair falling out so I'm very afraid of that happening. I made an appt with Lasio studios but when I found out I had to sign a waiver giving up my rights should anything happen - I cancelled the appt. I also walked into AKS salon but I didn't feel comfortable with Kim ($250 for the 8 week Lasio? forget it!) John Barrett charged north of $500 for the same treatment and were a bit snooty so I walked back to this salon. I walked in at 6pm - had a short convo with Jonathan and we choose the formeldahyde free Lasio Tropic formula for me. I had my hair washed and was given a cappucino then the had Jonathan dry my hair before applying the keratin on strand by strand. He was very detailed and thorough as well as cordial and personable. My hair was then dryed with a paddle brush and straight ironed before I left the salon at 9PM (they close at 7 and Jonathan stayed late). Its been less than 24 hours so I can't speak to the results of the Keratin treatment yet. The salon was beautiful, the service was good and Jonathan is a true professional. $300 for the treatment plus tax and tip. I'll definitely be back for a haircut, color, etc. read more

I got the best manicure and pedicure, ever, from Nicole today. She was such a sweetheart and I will always go to her from now on. I thought the Koreans knew how to do nails but this Serbian knows her stuff. I walked away admiring my nails- I'm a guy who usually doesn't notice these kinds of things but I definitely did today. My pedicure made my feet look good. I looked at my feet and was like "Whoa, hell yeah, my feet look great." Again, something I usually don't notice but it was kinda hard not to. Marina makes hair washing an art and i almost fall asleep from relaxation every time i'm there when she washes my hair and Tom Dellacorte, is a magician with the scissors. I have more cowlicks (about 8)then anyone i've ever met and he manages to make my hair look great every time...plus he is a wonderful person. I came here originally because my wife and her twin have long red hair that they won't let anyone touch or cut except Tom....that said a lot to me and they were right..he's the best! read more

I'm so disappointed with my last visit to Ricardo! I let him talk me into bayalage. I have shiny brown hair He did my entire head instead of a partial which I asked for. Ended up with orangey Beige highlights and it dried out my hair terribly! Took all the healthy shine out and damaged it!!! even with good quality deep conditioning! I went back and he acknowledged his mistake and temporarily fixed it. Two shampoos later and it's back to beige orange!!! Ruined my hair for years! Thanks Ricardo...maybe listen to what your customer wants and don't insist on doing what you want!!!!!! read more

I have been getting my haircut at Riccardo's for as long as I can remember. My Grandmother, Mother and I are three generations of true advocates of this salon - they are the BEST. I have lived across the country now and will wait to come back home to NYC for my haircut to see Riccardo, the price is well worth the quality you are receiving. What I appreciate the most is that it is a haircut that will LAST. If you are looking for an excellent cut that will still look good months later, you should absolutely consider trying them out. The people are friendly and attentive, they use only top hair care products, and every hair dresser there that I have been to has done a superb job. The staff at Riccardo are really amazingly friendly and accomodating. I have been using Akemi, a colorist, for the past 7 years. I have followed her from salon to salon and she has finally settled at RM. My natural hair color is brown, but Akemi is amazing and is able to take my hair down to the most perfect shade of blonde. I have not been able to find a colorist as talented as she is in all of my years of coloring my hair. She has a great eye and good taste. She is so wonderful that I travel all the way from Staten Island to continue to have her color my hair. For blowouts, I use Lina. Her blowouts last nearly a week. She is just an assistant in the salon, but she is amazingly talented and has a ton of potential. I look forward to her haircuts when she is promoted to a stylist position. The salon itself is beautiful, clean, organized and friendly. I also love that they serve you a choice of beverage when you arrive. I refer whoever I can. read more

Akemi is the most talented colorist I've ever met (and I've met many of them who damaged the color and texture of my dry frizzy hair). Everything she does (single process, highlights, balayage) turns out beautiful--and very natural looking. People always stop me in the street and ask who my colorist is. She's also one of the sweetest people and best listeners I've ever known. If she ever retires, I'll be totally lost. And the stylist I see--Ishi--is extraordinary: He always tells me exactly what he's going to do before he does it and (almost magically) turns my bushy mess into sleek curls. Before I started going to them, I HATED my mousy frizzy hair. Now I love it. Superb color and a great cut makes me feel SO much better than I used to. [P.S. Don't let them send you to Diane. I booked a color appointment with Liz Russell today. I had had an awful experience at a salon I went to off of Groupon. However, the worst decision I've made with my hair turned out to be the best because I found a colorist for life. Every moment of the experience was amazing. From the front desk staff, to the assistants Liz & Sasha and to the most talented colorist I have ever been to. This salon works as a team... As an actor and fitness model my looks are my business and because I had such an awful color job I needed it fixed immediately. Liz took care with such respect and integrity for my hair with her expertise and keen eye for artistic detail. I did not want to invest more time in this matter but the manager's comment to my review is downright false on several accounts so I need to get some facts straight: 1) The manager was not there when I showed the colorist the picture. She has no idea how the colorist spoke to me rudely and rushed through the consultation to get moving with the next customer. 2) I was not insecure of what I wanted at all. I showed the colorist the picture and she coloured my hair several tones darker. 3) I did not say the first colour was beautiful - I said it was too dark and immediately asked for a re-do. On the contrary, it was the owner of the salon that said "It's a beautiful colour, but I know it wasn't what you wanted." 4) I did not ask whether I could have my money back before the services even started. When I paid the full price for the first colour which I was not happy with, I asked whether I could have a partial refund if the re-do did not come out right. They actually charged me a lot more money for the colour than what the receptionist said it would cost when I initially called the salon. 5) They tried charging me extra for the blow-dry after the re-do that ruined my hair but when I objected, they eventually agreed to not charge me. I wouldn't call that a complimentary service. What kind of hairsalon claiming such high professional standards would leave a customer with ruined hair for $397 and let a stylist assault the customer and even calling the police for complaining about it? As a final resort, I wrote them a letter explaining what options I had to take the matter further asking for at least a partial refund. I am a lawyer with a distinct sense of justice so claiming my right is a matter of course with that much money down the drain and damaged hair as outcome. This salon has caused me a lot of distress and I hope that nobody else will have to go through that! read more

Elena is an amazing esthetician! Please support her, but note that my last time in the salon, I was BERATED for trying to use a coupon. The owner and manager ganged up on me and yelled at me in the waiting area. I could imagine them having a reaction like this if I put up a fight, but I didn't. I calmly informed them that when I called to make the appointment I notified the receptionist that I would be using the coupon and there seemed to be no problems, and perhaps they should train their staff better, and I was happy to still pay for my service since Elena was great. I am sure this fancy salon does not need my business, a young bride-to-be looking for great services in preparation for my wedding, but treat people with dignity and respect please. Their rudeness and disgusting behavior was the WORST I have seen in any high end salon in NYC. read more

until I found this place on a recommendation, a traditional barber shop was where I got my hair cut. I went a few times just to make sure it was the right place because I need a go to place for a great haircut and I don't want to think about where to go anymore. This is my spot now. While its luxury the prices are very reasonable. I went in with very unhealthy colored hair and I didn't have an appointment the first time I went there. He took me in and promised he would make my hair healthy and make the color right for me.
