We wanted to explore the menu so we ordered a variety of items to share, knowing we'd be taking home leftovers. We ordered the Green Curry ($17), Lao Pho ($18), Pas See Ew ($17), and pineapple fried rice ($19). It was truly a feast. All the dishes had a generous portion size and our server made sure we had extra bowls and plates to share the pho and other dishes. My personal favorites were the pad see ew and Lao pho, the noodles in the pad see ew were delicious and I always like eating this as fresh as possible so the noodles are steaming hot. The pho broth had great flavor and I loved that this Lao version had tomatoes in it. The meat in the pho was also delicious. The pineapple fried rice is a customer favorite, but didn't blow me away. I tend to like savory and spicy more than sweet and savory, so this could by why. The Green Curry was a bit too thin for my preferences, I like a thick curry. It was tasty though and I'm glad I gave it a try. I would definitely stop in again to try more of the menu, and when we stopped in the Lao sausage was sold out, so I'd definitely order it next time if they have it.

Weekly lunch adventures usually involve me and my blood work making poor decisions together. I stopped by Rice Bites and grabbed two purple rice rolls to go: the Tonkatsu Purple Rice Roll and the Grilled Cheese Sausage Purple Rice Roll. By the time I got home, both were still holding together well and tasted just as fresh as when they were packed. Quick Categories FOOD: Both rolls were delicious, but the Tonkatsu Purple Rice Roll was the clear winner for me. Think katsu plate flavors wrapped into a portable rice roll. SERVICE: Friendly and efficient. It looked like there was only one person working when I visited, but orders were moving smoothly. AMBIANCE: Small, clean shop with a few seats available. Order from the kiosk or directly from the cashier. PARKING: Probably the biggest challenge. I found parking without much trouble, but it did require about a 3-minute walk. Here's What I Had Tonkatsu Purple Rice Roll (5/5) This was my favorite of the two. Crispy pork, balanced flavors, and enough texture to keep every bite interesting. It reminded me of eating a katsu plate, just in a much more portable form. If it was my first visit again, this is the one I'd order. Grilled Cheese Sausage Purple Rice Roll (4/5) Still very good, just competing against a strong favorite. The sausage brought a nice savory flavor and the grilled cheese element made it feel like comfort food wrapped in purple rice. Pro Tip Keep the wrapper on and peel it back gradually as you eat. Trust the process. These rolls are packed generously, which is great for flavor but can become a rice avalanche if your technique gets too ambitious. Overall One thing I found interesting is that they also offer rice plates, which are essentially deconstructed versions of the rolls. After recently getting blood work back and being told I should probably ease up on the carbs, I may go that route next time, or simply order one roll instead of two. The purple rice concept makes Rice Bites stand out from the typical lunch options downtown, and it's easy to see why so many people talk about the texture and flavor combinations. Several other reviewers mentioned that the rolls can get messy, and after eating one, I completely understand what they mean. The flavor is worth it though. Rice Bites is a great new spot in Sac! I ordered the classic purple rice roll and my friend got the tonkatsu version. We thought they might be too heavy, but they were just right. Super tasty, filling, but not overwhelming. I also got the crème brûlée boba milk tea and it was the perfect combo with the rolls. The space itself is small with a few seats, not ideal for a big group, but perfect if you're grabbing something to-go or eating quickly. I recently visited this new rice roll and bubble tea shop and had a great experience! The interior is beautifully decorated - bright, clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I ordered the cheese and sausage purple rice roll, which was delicious and satisfying. This is a fantastic place ! Even better, it's only a five-minute walk from my workplace. It's the perfect choice for a quick and delicious lunch. The dining room has a well-thought-out layout with plenty of room between tables, and the mini-split air conditioning keeps the restaurant at a very comfortable temperature--a small detail that definitely doesn't go unnoticed during Sacramento summers. The staff was welcoming from the moment we walked in and remained friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Here's what we ordered: Spicy Garlic Green Beans These were excellent. The green beans were cooked perfectly, maintaining just enough crunch without being undercooked. They were tossed with garlic, onions, and plenty of seasoning. They did lean a little on the salty side, but I think much of that came from the spicy garlic sauce itself. Despite that, we found ourselves going back for bite after bite. The slight heat built gradually without overpowering the freshness of the vegetables, making this an easy dish to recommend. Deluxe Chow Mein (Substituted with Skinny Egg Noodles) This is our go-to dish every time we visit Hidden Dumpling House. It normally comes with the thicker chow mein noodles, but we always ask them to substitute the skinny egg noodles, and they happily accommodate the request. This dish is absolutely fire. The portion is huge and loaded with generous pieces of tender chicken, flavorful char siu, and large shrimp. Unlike some restaurants that skimp on the protein, every bite here has something to enjoy. The noodles have an incredible texture, soaking up the savory sauce while still maintaining a slight chew. The vegetables add freshness and crunch, and everything comes together beautifully. Yes, it's one of the more expensive noodle dishes on the menu, but after seeing the portion size and the quality of the ingredients, the price makes complete sense. It's easily enough food for two people to share or to enjoy leftovers the next day. Overall, Hidden Dumpling House has made a fantastic first impression. We will likely pass on the ham and cheese croissant though. The croissant itself was crispy and not greasy, but the cheese was American processed cheese. Just okay. Popcorn chicken was really good. Not a Taiwanese style chicken fry - more like boneless chicken wings perfectly seasoned with the most delicious chili salt and paired with a perfectly balanced, garlicky sweet chili house hot sauce. The best part of our order was the traditional Vietnamese yogurt to end. It's like merging American yogurt with pudding, definitely a must try. Glad to have this place in town. Can definitely see it becoming one of our usual stops.

It's on the smaller side but perfect for me. The chicken was flavorful and tender. It was only missing pate. You can't beat the price of the banh mi here. 4/5 SERVICE: Friendly and accommodating. 4.5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I'm not sure if I'd come back. My stomach was hurting after coming here. Parking is limited; the spots along the tattoo shop seem to be off limits. But if you come before the lunch rush, you may find some street parking along 10th (good luck). There's just a little window to pick up; no seating. The Osaka-Ya shop is also very cute and worth taking a look at while you are waiting! (I'll go try their onigiris some day)

It is a very small shop and the owner is the only one running it, yet everything came out very quick and was insanely fresh! We both loved the Egg Sando as well as the Katsu Sando. The bread was soft and fluffy and all of the flavors hit the mark! My matcha was literally perfect, so excellently made and not bitter at all. My husband also loved his coffee. We already cannot wait to come back and are planning it for the next time we are in town!
