This was so yummy I nearly went two days in a row! Also, fantastic portions especially for the price - this purple rice burrito was huge and SO tasty!!! All of this hit the spot. Wait was a bit long but to be fair they were really crowded when I went and the food was well worth the wait. Cute spot with a few tables for seating - once it cleared out I was able to get the back area to myself and it was super cute. Would definitely come back!!

    Classic Purple Rice Roll

This Classic Purple Rice Roll came into my life like a carb-loaded superhero wrapped in seaweed. It looked innocent in the packaging, but inside was absolute mayhem. The purple rice was chewy and satisfying, the crispy dough brought the crunch, and the pickled radish plus cucumber kept everything from turning into a full-on sodium festival. Every bite tasted slightly different, like a lucky dip of deliciousness, and it had enough fillings to make a burrito jealous. I ordered it through a delivery app, so I can't really comment on the service or ambiance, but the packaging was neat, secure, and honestly kind of adorable. The roll arrived intact without turning into a rice avalanche in the bag, which already deserves respect.

I have wanted to try the viral rice wrap for a while. I picked up my order super late, but the rice burrito was pretty tasty. They did not skimp with the fillings. It was both sweet and savory. If you're into Asian food, you will enjoy this. If you're not into Asian food, it may not be your thing. I also got their kale, pineapple, coconut water. It tasted healthy, but refreshing. If you're Asian, you would appreciate the nutritional value the drink offered.

Walked in on a Monday during lunchtime and the storefront was so cute. Everything was so purple and other than food they sold blind boxes too. I ordered the OG purple rice toll and it was $10~ , my food came out shortly after. The rice roll was super yummy, it had all types of different textures and flavors all in one roll. It was a little messy to eat towards the bottom, but I'm glad my server gave me a fork. If I'm ever in the area I would get it again!

Super cute boba cafe near the heart of downtown. I got the brown sugar boba while waiting for a late night event to start and it was super yummy! Sweetness level matched my expectations and the seating area is very charming. I appreciate they're open later than other businesses nearby. The cashier was also friendly! I'd like to try their food next time.

Teriyaki Chicken Purple Rice Roll, after a couple bites.

Stopped by this spot after my lunch walk around the Capital park and was super ready to taste the food I ordered ahead. It was super convenient to go in and out while walking back to my office. Picked up the cream cheese wontons, teriyaki chicken purple rice roll, and a pineapple smoothies with mango popping boba. The service was very good, fast, and friendly, they had my food ready to go when I got there. The vibes are chill and they have some seating available. The food was amazing and smelled so good once I got back to my office. My coworkers came to check out what I was eating since the aroma of the food spread out and they could smell the teriyaki chicken. The cream cheese wontons were stuffed with cream cheese and came with the sweet and sour sauce. I used some of the sauce for my roll and it added an extra layer of flavor! Definitely recommend doing that if they give you the sauce. The roll is compact but it is stuffed with chicken and veggies, it's thiccck. The smoothie is really good as well. I got regular sweet level and the popping boba is delicious. I love pineapple smoothies so I was very excited that they have these here near where I work. Definitely coming back here with my coworker next week. They are curious to try it out.

    Tonkatsu Purple Rice Roll
    Tina T.

This spot has such cute decor inside. Theres paid metered parking outside and I had to wait about 10 mins for my order. I got the Tonkatsu Purple Rice Roll. The size seems a bit small but it was filling. I wish it was longer and skinner instead of short and wide bet it was very hard and unpleasant to eat. I was struggling taking the bites without making a mess on my face. The flavors were well balanced and good, there was a good amount of pork in it.

    First time here
    Adam G.

So we went to Rice bites on November 16th roughly around 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday. We were starving after doing a Pokemon go event and wanted to try out a new place in the Sacramento downtown area. Rice bites came up as a new and hot business and I told my friend let's try it out. We both are always on the lookout for new bubble tea spots and places that have snacks. When we entered we were greeted very warmly by the individual behind the cash register. She asked if it was our first time and we said yes. She continued by giving us recommendations on what is the most popular dish and she also Davis recommendation of which snacks to try out considering that we said we were both hungry. We ended up getting the following drinks: brown sugar boba and kumquat and lemon tea, and as snacks we got the classic purple roll and the popcorn chicken. As we waited for our order to be completed we sat in the cute little space next to the wall that had a tree on the side of it. Looking around and listening to the soft music in the background was really nice. The calm environment when it was a little rainy outside made it feel very comforting. We did both gush over the cute little purple plushie that was by the tree and definitely had a little photo shoot moment with it next to our drinks. The drinks themselves, my friend really liked his kumquat drink because he said the freshness of the lemons was really coming through and enhance the kumquat flavor. Not overly sweet and he really enjoyed again how fresh it was. For myself my brown sugar drink was perfectly balanced. I was really pleased that the boba had a little bit of a bite to it. Again that is preference for myself I'm a person that likes Al dente pasta so again my boba I like a little bit of a bite to it so that I can really chew on them. Hands down for us we really enjoyed the popcorn chicken. It was steaming hot, extremely flavorful, and the crunchiness of the breading was perfection. We would definitely go back and have that. The purple roll we really enjoyed the one thing is we definitely wanted to have some kind of sauce to either pour over it or a little bit of a spread inside of it it felt like it was missing a little bit of heat for both of our pallets. Again though my friend and I enjoy spicy so again if you don't want that and don't need it still an amazing snack to have. Would definitely go back to try the rest of the menu that they have.

Fresh Pineapple Green Tea + Crystal Boba~ My hubby loved his fruity drink, made with fresh pineapple!
    Rachelle P.

We were looking to kill sometime before our paid parking limit ended and thought why not get some boba. We ordered a Fresh Pineapple Green Tea with Crystal Boba and Tiger Brown Sugar Boba. My hubby loved his fruity drink, made with fresh pineapple! The tiger was nice and warm, the perfect boba texture that I love, very flavorful and VERY sweet! Next time I'll go with half the sweetness, but shaking it helps distribute the flavors some! Before leaving hubby decided to get a Tonkotsu Purple Rice Roll. He took his Chinese rice roll to work, so I didn't get to unwrap it, but he said it was amazing! This adorable small business opened just this year! I love their decor and indoor seating area, sweet staff too that gave our toddler stickers! If you collect Labubu they even have some fancy outfits and accessories for sale! We'll be back, so I can try finally try a purple rice roll! Masubi looks good too! SYOY! :D

I am such a big fan of this place. The staff are sweet and patient and while tiny, the place is cute and decorated. I can't think of another place in Sacramento that has these Taiwanese Purple Rice Rolls. I love all the different textures and flavors and am so happy people are embracing such a unique and different food! I have also tried the cream cheese wontons, which were standard and yummy, and the strawberry matcha latte. Wow, this was so impressive. They use real strawberries, ha, what a novelty, and the drink was so well balanced. I don't think it had the best matcha quality, but it still paired really well. Can't wait to go back!

Mango Smoothie and a Taro Milk Tea with Aloe
    Ryan B.

A very enlightening aesthetic. Immediate and considerate service. The items the wife and I ordered were a Taro Milk Tea with Aloe and a Mango Smoothie. I appreciated the transparency from the server that the location had run out of Boba thus they would not charge me for the Aloe I added to my drink as it served as a substitute. The drinks themselves were very rich and full of flavor and substance. My Taro Milk Tea was creamy and not too overpowering. The wife's Mango smoothie was a split of sweet and sour which as refreshing and something unique. What was also appreciated was how staff brought us our drinks where we were seated, another rarity that stood out and solidified their presence as a solid location. More people should come here. They deserve the spotlight. 5/5

3.5/5 Came here for a quick lunch that is near work. Location is easy to locate, near a few popular restaurants in downtown. Business doesn't open doors until 11am, so its great for the lunch rush. The shop is cozy and cute, which purple/lavender decor with some blind boxes available for purchase. There's a nice bench area for waiting, and a few tables for dine in. You have the choice to order from the kiosk or register, I chose the kiosk since I will be taking some time to look through the menu. First glance of the menu, it was limited not much options just rice rolls and drinks (note: I visited the business when it barely opened for business like a month or so in, so menu was not as developed as it is now). I decided to just order: Togo - Tonkatsu pork rice roll with extra diakon, cucumbers and sauce. They also offer vegetarian option, which is great if I just want a lighter lunch. I didn't get any of their drinks. Overall, the rice roll was good. I would get it again for a quick lunch. It might look small but it really fulfilling since it fill with rice. I think the request to add extra diakons, cucumbers and sauce really help with the overall flavors. If I didn't, it might have been a little dry to my liking because the daikon and cucumbers add additional freshness to the roll and the extra sauce made it less dry, in my option. If you are looking for a quick bite for lunch and want to try something new, check out Rice Bites for their rice roll. It's different than the normal food options in the area like pizza, burrito, or salad.

This had been a big reason I hadn't stopped in before... parking can be hard downtown but I've learned it's worth a walk even if you have to park a few street over. I was told the green Thai tea ($6) here is delicious so we both eagerly ordered one to enjoy during the meal. They were served in larger carafes and it's so satisfying to stir before taking your first sip. Definitely a great portion for the price. We wanted to explore the menu so we ordered a variety of items to share, knowing we'd be taking home leftovers. We ordered the Green Curry ($17), Lao Pho ($18), Pas See Ew ($17), and pineapple fried rice ($19). It was truly a feast. All the dishes had a generous portion size and our server made sure we had extra bowls and plates to share the pho and other dishes. My personal favorites were the pad see ew and Lao pho, the noodles in the pad see ew were delicious and I always like eating this as fresh as possible so the noodles are steaming hot. The pho broth had great flavor and I loved that this Lao version had tomatoes in it. The meat in the pho was also delicious. The pineapple fried rice is a customer favorite, but didn't blow me away. I tend to like savory and spicy more than sweet and savory, so this could by why. The Green Curry was a bit too thin for my preferences, I like a thick curry. It was tasty though and I'm glad I gave it a try. I would definitely stop in again to try more of the menu, and when we stopped in the Lao sausage was sold out, so I'd definitely order it next time if they have it.

Now unfortunately I did have to dock 1 star purely for the food because I would love for this restaurant to keep thriving and I would be so happy to come back again and give a higher rating! I'm a long term fan of Kru and Kodaiko so I was really excited for Chu Mai. My first time, I ordered the lobster shrimp cheong fun and this was bougie dish that I enjoyed! We also ordered the laksa pasta which was a seasonal item (unknownst to me) and even though our kind server told us it was spicy, my friend's and I were thinking we eat spicy korean food all the time, it'll be fine. It was not fine, it was really spicy BUT it was delicious. Picture 3 asian visibly sweating and going back for more while downing copious amount of water and eating the roasted cabbage as a palete/spice cleanser. I actually took some of the pasta home to share with my partner who also thought the flavor was sooo good and wanted to come here for our anniversary. I totally forgot to write a review back then, because I would have suggested an option small cup of coconut milk or broth that people can mix to make the curry less spicy. Now for our anniversary dinner, I want to restate, service was impeccable! They went above and beyond! I really enjoyed the Cà Ri Khaoi Taylor, I love me crispy potatoes! But unfortunately the Bún Riêu not only came a bit later than expected. It was also slightly undercooked so it made for a harder mouthful when I bit into the dry/raw pasta parts. Our amazing server offered to change the dish and we took the lobster dandan noodles to go since we were on a time crunch, so I didnt really eat the noodles super fresh. It was good but it didnt have the kick and enticing flavor that the laksha curry pasta had. So I mainly wanted to come here and praise the servers, but also bring up that yes the laksa pasta back! We can handle the spice!!
