I ordered the Boba Milk Tea with no Boba, 50% sweetness, and no ice. The drink came out within a few minutes. When I tried the drink it tasted great. I came back today and the service and drink were consistent. I will definitely be back when in the area to try different drinks. I would recommend this place when in the area! Customer service is usually on top at this location. Drinks come out pretty quickly. It does take longer if you're also ordering food, so just a heads up. You can order at the self service kiosks, which takes card payment only. If paying by cash, you have to order with the employee. Suggestions for improvements: There is a great selection of items on the menu, but hoping there will be more variety of matcha drinks in the future. Please also provide an option for 30% sweetness. Hope UME orders bunny plushies for the surprise cups because we got a bunch of random characters (bird, alien, penguin) that were unrelated to the UME brand haha. This is my 2nd time here and I love their popcorn chicken and green tea that doesn't give me a headache (I get migraines from too much caffeine). I appreciate how their fruit teas are not super sweet and aren't mixed in with artificially tasting syrups! They have just the right amount of seating and when we went, UME was alive with people having fun and the music made the ambiance even better! I was impressed by how many people were picking up to-go orders too. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because our numbers weren't called and we needed to ask if our orders were ready, as we sat down and waited for our orders, and it wasn't until then that the staff looked at the order tickets on the counter and realized our popcorn chicken was ready and already bagged up on the counter. I've been back many more times since my first initial visit. I love their BOGO deals and have tried a variety of their drinks. I enjoyed most of what I've tried. There are two kiosks for you to order from. There are a few tables inside for you to wait or for you to enjoy your order. Drinks usually come out pretty quickly. I'm giving this a really bad review! I bought the Coconut Cha Cha Bow because of its bamboo basket and frangipani decoration, which is why I decided to come and buy it myself. However, when I picked up my drink, there was no basket or decoration. The reason given was that it was sold out. I'm extremely dissatisfied because this is tantamount to deceiving a customer; the price I paid included the entire product. They can't run a business by being so stingy with customer experience. UME Tea is a cute boba shop and has great drinks! I have been here a few times and I always get something new, which is not typical of me at a boba store. I stopped by the Sacramento Ume Tea location shortly after landing at the airport--it was the perfect first stop after a long flight! The shop was clean, bright, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They made our drinks just the way we like them, and of course, I had to upgrade to the bunny surprise cup. I find that most places that sell popcorn chicken with a "spicy" option is not actually spicy. I am pleasantly surprised to find that the UME Tea here is true to their word and is actually pretty spicy! It's crispy and has a good amount of meat, unlike places that have bad ratios and are mostly batter or fat. The portions are pretty good as well. It stays crispy even after it gets cold (as long as you don't cover it up when it's still hot or steaming). The flavor is delicious and is even spicier when the food is hot. It actually makes me sweat and this is coming from a spicy food fan. I hope their spice level never changes. It is so hard to find a satisfying spicy popcorn chicken. UME Tea will definitely be my go to for popcorn chicken in Sacramento. Beware, it may be too spicy for people who cannot tolerate too much spice, but I am sure they can accommodate and put less spice if it is requested. However, I am sure their regular popcorn chicken is delicious too! I think they also offer other flavors as well, but I have not yet tried any others -- I am too hooked on to their spicy popcorn chicken! I also enjoy their drinks! They were quite refreshing and nice. I opt for the fruity teas or blended drinks to complement my spicy snack. I have also tried their Blossom Latte which was good as well! Came to try their newish item, the Dubai chocolate shake. It was okay to me, I'd give it a 2/5 :( Along with the pistachio shake, it has some chocolate syrup, kadaifi, and fresh chopped pistachios. The shake... didn't really taste like anything. Idk how to explain it but it didn't taste like pistachio at all, nor did it taste like milk, heavy cream, or even vanilla or pistachio icecream (assuming that's what they use to make the shake). The only time I tasted pistachio was when I mixed the drink and some of the fresh chopped pistachio went up the straw. I really like this boba shop and usually have great experiences here. My go-to drink is the Brown Sugar Boba & Mochi Black Milk, the mochi is amazing, and service is normally good. This visit was disappointing. They had a promo where spending $25 gets you a free tote bag, and my sister and I intentionally spent over $25 to get it. After paying, we were told they were completely out of tote bags. There was no sign posted letting customers know this ahead of time. I waited about 15 minutes at the register to ask if I could take one of the display bags since I'm out of town. When a worker finally helped me, she agreed but seemed visibly upset and rushed, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I'll still come back for the drinks, but clearer communication about promos and better customer service would really improve the experience. read more

With the weather starting to (ever so) slowly warm up, save for the always needed spurts of rain here and there, it's actually reminded me that I never got around to writing my review for UME Tea! Now, just to be clear, I'm under no illusion that this is actually one of the best boba shops in Sacramento, let alone in general. However, on such a hot day, our drinks certainly tasted like the best thing on Earth! Considering how their space isn't all that large, it's rather impressive that they managed to squeeze in a handful of tables while still maintaining enough space for folks to wait for their drinks to be made. Pretty much the entire place was filled with families and kids, which kind of fits their family friendly vibe and pink on pink decor. As for the menu, it initially looked pretty typical, with its range of milk teas, slushies, tea, and snacks, but several of their individual offerings are surprisingly unique - Mango Pomelo Sage, Thai Tea with Creme Brulee, Taro Milk Tea with Coconut Pudding, etc. However, none of them stood out to me as much as their STRAWBERRY MATCHA MILK TEA WITH MATCHA ICE CREAM ($5.95). As soon as it came out, I was so excited to take the first sip. Even though it had quite a bit more milk than I would've preferred, this was great! Everything complemented each other really well and I liked how the strawberries weren't super syrupy or sweet. However, the highlight of the drink was clearly the matcha and the scoop of matcha ice cream. In particular, the latter not only reinforce the flavor, but it helped to keep the drink cold and added a slight creaminess as it melted. Despite how much I enjoyed my drink, I have to admit that, in hindsight, my experience with UME Tea is probably closer to four stars than five. Objectively, they're not as good as some of my legit favorites out there, but I'd be lying if I said my drink wasn't a deliciously cold treat. At the very least, it's one of the better ones I've had around Sacramento. And for that reason, especially with those hot summer days looming, that is more than enough of a reason to come back for more! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded up. read more

I like to come here after I shop at 99 Ranch. I usually just place my order online as I'm shopping for groceries and once I'm finished I'll just walk across to UME to pick up my drinks. Interior is a bit small but lots of cute decorations and a few tables. I'm not sure if they have anyone who takes order but did notice they have a kiosk to place your order but definitely just recommend ordering online to avoid waiting in line. Btw parking can be a little chaotic but you'll find a parking space somewhere. Some drinks is recommend are the Lychee & Watermelon Green Tea and Strawberry Matcha Latte. The promotional material for this collaboration event advertised that three different styles of fridge magnets would be available, with one magnet included per two-person meal set. This was one of the primary reasons I decided to order multiple sets. On March 12th, I purchased three two-person sets and two single-person sets, spending a total of approximately $150. However, every single fridge magnet I received turned out to be of the exact same design (the "Aria" style)! When I inquired about this with the staff, they informed me that only one style was currently in stock at the store. Given that the promotional images clearly and explicitly displayed three distinct styles, which feels very misleading to customers. The situation with the cups was exactly the same. In theory, the two-person and single-person sets were supposed to come with three different cup designs respectively. I bought eight drinks in total; yet, every single cup I received featured the exact same character print (the "Nangong Yu" style). I purchased so many meal sets solely for the sake of the promotional merchandise included in this collaboration! Since the items I received offered absolutely no variety in design, ordering multiple sets became entirely pointless. Another serious issue lay with the cup lids. Several of the lids on the cups I received were not sealed securely. Upon picking up my order, I noticed that some of the lids were already loose, and the beverages nearly spilled out. On my way home, while making a turn, the lids on two of the cups popped off completely, causing the drinks to spill everywhere. For takeout drinks, something this basic should not be happening. This promotional event was scheduled to run from March 9th through April 20th; yet, by March 12th--barely into the campaign--the store was already repeatedly handing out identical promotional items to customers and failing to even properly seal the beverage cups. This entire experience left me feeling that the store's operations were both highly irresponsible and deceptive. Especially considering I spent approximately $150, I expected to receive a level of service and product quality far superior to what I actually encountered. All in all, this was an extremely disappointing customer experience. read more
