We took a seat and browsed the menu. The server came over right away and got us some drinks. I ordered a cup of egg flour soup and it was delicious. We opted in to getting dinner combo plates. They were LARGE portions for a great price. Their orange chicken was one of the best I've have had in a while. The fried rice was flavorful but slightly on the salty side. But it was good and I would love yo try more of their offerings.

Since they have had the same owners for over four decades, I was confident it hadn't changed too much. First, a disclaimer, I am no stranger to Chinese food as I have traveled extensively in the Orient a number of times, and having married into a Chinese family who emigrated from the Middle Kingdom back during the Cultural Revolution. My wife is half Chinese and knows her dishes. We ordered a variety of plates, as you will see in the attached pictures. Every one was spot on from soup to fortune cookies (which are not Chinese by he way but that's OK). Total spent was about $125 with tip. The service was solid, we were greeted as soon as we opened the door, as were all diners. The selections came out promptly, were attractively prepared. Assistance was offered to pack up leftovers (which we planned on, budgeting in take home for tomorrow and Thursday's meals). As for score, I give the place it a solid 5 out of 5. We WILL be coming back. My wife was still raving on the place when we got home. My only comment not glowing is that the floor could have used a touch near the entryway. We got the Hunan Villa's dinner which came with a Pupu plate and your choice of soup and your choice of entrée. We ordered the dinner for two as the Babes only grazes. They gave us settings for three, including for the soup without having to be asked. Both the Hubbs and the babes had fun with the Pupu platter. I was more tired than hungry, but ended up enjoying the food. It had that old school greasy spoon American Chinese flavor that I've been missing. The food isn't fancy, but it's plentiful and tasty and reminded me of the Chinese restaurants when I was a kid. The Hubbs chose Mongolian beef and we got tons of beef and I chose the honey walnut prawns and they gave us at least 20 prawns. The portion sizes were huge. I was expecting that they had provided food for three but when we got our check, they charged us the dinner for two. We took home the leftovers and there was enough food for two additional meals. Forgot to take additional pictures and the total came out to about $42. I had $60 on me in cash and left that to cover the tab and tip, since they stayed open late for us. Definition of cheap eats and we will definitely be back the next time we go to the reservoir.

The vermicelli plate was unusually sweet- both the beef and shrimp had a red sauce that was very vivid and unexpected. We both ate our food and enjoyed the meal, but will probably not be back any time soon. If you are in the area and craving pho- this was a decent place, the prices seemed standard, and there were limited food options when we were looking Sunday evening.
