Bulgogi Steak Riceburger
Elaine C.

I gave this a try at the Asian Dealmoon food truck festival at chestnut hill. There was no line and I was hungry so I said why not. I thought $9 for a hard rice sandwich/burger like was kinda of expensive but I assumed the bulgogi would be very rich and flavorful. Welp I was wrong and I gave this place too much credit. This thing was tiny. Their rice was pretty hard and the bulgogi barely had any seasoning.... It had a lot more of the shedded carrot and lettuce than the actual meat. I would not recommend this as I was really disappointed.

House fries - seaweed and sesame seeds shaved on top

Wrapping up my semester on campus, and having no groceries to pack lunch, I found myself at the Riceburg food truck. I hadn't heard of Riceburg before but the concept was too intriguing to pass up: Asian style "burgers" served on patties of rice instead of a bun. I ordered the bulgogi shaved steak burger: juicy bulgogi with lettuce, carrots, and sauce. The rice patties were "grilled" almost on one side to give them a firmer texture. I was expecting the whole thing to fall apart with my first bite but surprisingly the rice held up. Although a clever idea (and gluten free option), the rice was too sticky and gummy. Towards the end of my burger, I didn't want anymore of the rice "bun." We also ordered a side of house fries to split: shoe string French fries with shaved seaweed and sesame seeds. They had an interesting flavor. For $9 (just for the burger), I don't know how often I'd get this food truck but it's a clever idea.

Rice Burg was right in front of me and there was no line, so I had to try. Went with the signature dish. Beef Rice Burg: The concept here is that, rather than bread the rice is shaped into a "bun." The rice itself is overcooked and squishy. Probably because this is the only way it can hold shape. The rice cake is lightly toasted giving it a light crisp skin, which is a nice nuance. However, the overall flavor of the rice is bland and tasteless. Furthermore, I did not care for the mushy texture of the rice. As far as meat is concerned, I was expecting an actual burger made of ground beef, but rather I got thin beef slices. The beef was overcooked. Leathery texture, seemed like it was sitting around for some time and was not made fresh. I did get one of beef piece that was fatty and chewy, which was nice. Beef was marinated in a basic soy-garlic seasoning, which adds some flavor to the otherwise tasteless beef. This "burg" desperately needs sauce. The sauce provided was a mix of hoisin sauce or some kind of BBQ with a hint of peanut sauce/spread. There was also some heat in there, so maybe some pepper relish was present. Shredded carrots and a lot of baby greens such as baby kale, arugula spinach and lettuce added a little nuance. Rice Burg is a unique food item. It is essentially a deconstructed rice bowl in the form of a burger-sammich. Neat idea, but bland execution. Sauces cannot compensate for the lack of flavor here. The meat has a tough texture and the rice is soggy. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Rice Burg.

I absolutely love the concept of korean bbq in-between two rice buns. Very funny with the name "Rice Burg". The sandwich was pricey, yet worth it. I found that one rice burger could easily fill you. I loved the gochujang that they put inside and the crispy charred rice on the outside. My only problem was with how much it leaked, but you can't really do anything about that except get a handful of napkins!

Boba drinks were very good!! I got the Shaved Shiitake Mushroom Burger (in the picture) it was good a little bit of a spicy flavor to it. My boyfriend got the sweet and sour chicken sandwich which was much better. It came with a piece of pineapple and the chicken was super crispy! Yummm!!! Would definitely go back to try more

I've been wanting to try this food truck solely for their rice burger. Fortunately, I was able to try it at the August Moon Festival in Quincy Center this past weekend. Unfortunately, the guy taking the order misheard me and gave me a mala spicy crispy chicken rice bowl instead when I ordered the rice burger version. Guess I'll need to try it out another time. Pros: - Definitely gives you a big portion - The house fries (it has seaweed and sesame powder) was pretty good. Also a very big portion! - For around $13-14, it's a good price for the amount of food we got to feed the two of us well - The side salad had a pretty good dressing. It was sweet, which was unexpected! Cons: - Well, I guess the guy mishearing my order -shrugs- - The mala spicy sauce didn't taste much like mala at all to me. Wasn't very spicy - The rice was SO dry. It's the type of rice that comes straight out of the fridge and heated up. Like damn, eating dry-ish crispy chicken with dry rice... with fries - definitely needed a drink afterward If the burger is anything similar to how the rice was like in the bowl, I may need to pass... but I am wiling to give it another shot if I've ever in proximity of the truck again

This place is quite interesting! First time got the steak rice bowl and it was delicious. Served with a mixed greens salad. The cilantro lime rice is very tasty and the steak is incredibly flavorful! It's both sweet and savory. I loved the reed sauce they add in top that is kind of sweet as well as medium spicy. Second time was today and I got the rice chicken burger. It was pretty good! I wish I would've gotten the steak though. The chicken was fried and had a very yummy crispy coating. They add some sweet sauce and lettuce as well as some pineapple. I took the pineapple out but still enjoyed the flavor it left behind. Ultimately I thought it was hard to eat as it wasn't very well wrapped so it made it less enjoyable to eat.

This is pure novelty...however, they are executing with precision and quality. I opted for a rice bowl rather than a rice 'burg', but in the end, the ingredients are all the same and I can assure you, it's all going to the same place. The rice is sticky, just the way I like it. A hint of salt, nothing overwhelming. I decided on the crispy chicken patty with sweet and sour sauce. The knife skills exhibited when the patty was chopped...I blinked and the chicken was chopped. SUCH PRECISION. I'm jealous because I would have lost a finger or at least sent a piece of chicken flying across the room had I attempted to go that fast with a sharp object in hand. Everything was tasty. It was a satisfying and somewhat healthy meal. At least that's what I tell myself when you can say a meal was gluten-free. Definitely not carb free. But gluten-free. A stretch? Maybe. Leave me and my flawed logic alone.

Vegan Spicy Burger with Rice Buns

Ordered: Vegan Spicy Chicken Rice Burger I love places that are innovative and come up with cool twist on foods that were used to. I was walking to class and I passed by their truck and it caught my eye that they use rice patties instead of a bun. I chose their spicy vegan burger. It came with lettuce and a very fresh slice of pineapple that worked great with the sauce. It obviously was a little messy but that's to be expected from any burger and kind of makes the experience better. I cannot wait to go back to try their sweet-and-sour vegan chicken burger. They seem to be a line of food trucks so just keep an eye out for them if they're ever in your vicinity! It is absolutely worth it.

I've always wanted to try both a rice burger and a ramen burger. So glad that I was finally able to cross rice burger off my list at the SoWa marketplace on Sunday. Out of all the things on the menu, I chose the bulgogi rice burger, and to be honest, none of the other options really seemed that great for me to come back to try something else. Bulgogi Rice Burger: I love the concept of having rice or ramen as the bun on a burger. In this case, they created a bun with rice and crisped up the sides so that the rice would hold. The bulgogi was flavorful and the veggies they included were yummy. One suggestion I would have would be to maybe not wrap up the burger in foil because the rice essentially gets steamed in it and the rice doesn't hold the crispy texture. Perhaps they could serve it in a more open manner so the rice stays crispy. Even though the burger was quite tasty, not sure if I would get it again. I would definitely suggest you try it at least once for the novelty of the rice burger.

Soy chicken spicy salad bowl!

You know what, I'm kinda a fan of this. It's a novelty thing for sure but the execution isn't bad at all. For one, they have great vegetarian options. As in, more than one. I got the vegetarian crunchy soy chicken patty, but the shiitake mushroom looked pretty good as well. For two, if you're feeling health conscious, you can opt for a salad bowl instead, which was what I did. They still give you a rice bun thing to top the salad off! And thirdly, the food is all actually pretty tasty. The soy fried chicken is pleasingly crunchy and tastes enough like chicken to satisfy meat cravings but not enough to weird you out. The rice patty is a structural marvel in that it holds its shape firmly but you can still taste the individual grains when biting into it. And their homemade gochujang is the bomb! There definitely wasn't enough of that sauce in my bowl! Oh, and they gave me a complimentary pineapple ring too when I asked for it, so that's definitely a big, big plus! I got this from the fooda cluster of food vendors in the Pru, and it had the shortest line. I'm not complaining, but they deserve more customers! Rice burg all the way!

I stumbled across this food truck as I was walking home through Copley, and though I'd never seen it before, I decided to give it a try. And I did not regret it. It's a play on the ramen burger; instead of ramen, they use rice. So it's also similar to the increasingly popular sushi burgers these days. I stood staring at the menu for forever; thank god there was no line. The guy inside didn't judge me; he merely stayed on his phone until I was ready to order. When I was, I still had questions. I couldn't decide between the Korean fried chicken or the shaved beef; he said that most people prefer the chicken. It's also (apparently) slightly healthier than the beef because it's white meat, but I don't know the validity of that. I'm not a huge rice person, so I didn't finish the rice part (honestly, could've just used one patty and had an open faced burger), but it was one of the best things I've had from a Boston food truck. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy; I'm usually not a fan of fried chicken, but Koreans know how to do this right. The sauces made it great; there was a spicy chili oil that reminded me of what my mom used to put in our food at home (Lao Gan Ma, in Chinese), as well as various other sauces. This was a fantastic and really filling meal, and I'm glad I stopped here. Strongly recommend if you see this truck around.

Sweet and Sour Chicken, messy!
Kayla S.

So not impressed with this food truck. I really like to hit up the food trucks when I work in town and there are so many great ones! This is sadly not on the great list. This was my first experience here and I will most likely not go back. I arrived at 11:45 (prior to any lunch rush) because I wanted to scope out the menu. After a few minutes I asked about the "Salad Bowl" that was on the menu. The girl rudely says, "we don't serve salads." Well, what the heck is it on your menu for?! Anyway, went with the Sweet and Sour Chicken Burger and it was so disappointing. It was almost impossible to eat without a knife and fork (which they don't give you) and really just so-so. The chicken was super thick and a little chewy (ick!). By the time I walked to my office a block away, the crispy outside of the chicken was already soggy... Just really not good. For $8, I sort of expected more. I think the concept it great, they just need some tweaking.

Huge shoutout to Eduardo, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our sisters holiday outing feel special and intentional, and to our server Paulina, who was attentive, warm, and truly wanted everything to be perfect. And it was. Let's talk ambiance first because whew. Chic. Stylish. Aesthetic on aesthetic. Even the walk to the bathroom felt curated. Ladies... the mirror alone deserves a moment. Full body selfie approved. Now the drinks. The mocktail I had was SO good. Balanced, flavorful, refreshing. I like a mocktail that has flavor and layers without being super sweet. The apps thoughhhhhh! They deserve their own paragraph because baby... The crab rangoon was TO DIE FOR. That old school wrap dough situation? I have been hunting for that exact texture and flavor forever. My fave restaurant switched dough and I haven't had a good Rangoon since then until now. It was crispy, nostalgic, and perfect. The fried egg rolls? Delicious. The pickled cucumbers? Bright and refreshing and er literally ate every drop, lol. But the WINNER... those fall off the bone ribs. I might have made a sound when I bit into them. Cooked to perfection. A full blown flavor party in my mouth. The scallion pancakes were the only thing that did not hit for me. The dough was thicker and heavier than I prefer. I love mine light and airy like traditional scallion pancakes. If they leaned that way I would have been obsessed. Our main courses... baybeeee The Dan Dan noodles... I did not even get a bite. I went to ask my sister for a taste and they were GONE. All of them. That says everything. My other sister loved the dumplings and even more that they fried them for her instead of serving them traditionally. And the sauce with those dumplings... Let me tell you about the sauce. I am OBSESSED. I took some home and Eduardo generously gave me more to take. That is top tier service and an at home sauce party, lol. My fried house rice was excellent. The mix of veggies and flavors was perfection. With everything else we ordered I could not even finish it. And then... dessert. Eduardo and Paulina surprised us with a complimentary cheesecake that was so light and decadent, topped with fruit and homemade whipped cream. Next time I am absolutely saving space for that. The customer service was truly top tier. The decor, the food, the staff, the background music. Everything PERFECT. My sisters and I sat for hours. We laughed. We ate. We shared emotions. We were present. That alone tells you how comfortable and welcoming this space is. I would go back today. I cannot wait to bring my husband and some of my fellow foodies.
