Randomly found this place while walking to the North End. It was super busy inside, almost didn't find a seat. Their menu had a lot of classics, including tortas. A lot of people seemed to be getting the tacos or a torta. I got the steak quesadilla and it was fresh, only thing was it was a little cold and portion was a little small. I liked the pico inside it added good flavors, and the steak was good but it tasted more like a ground beef. My boyfriend got the plate with carnitas, he really enjoyed it. I wish I tried a torta as it looked really good, but next time! They also have locations in other cities--there's one in Medford too. After a disappointing experience and a returned dish at another restaurant, I was looking for something comforting, nourishing, and satisfying. Yelp pointed me to this small (nothing fancy) Mexican spot, and on a rainy Sunday evening it felt like exactly the right choice. The "tucked -in" restaurant was quiet and welcoming. I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas, and they absolutely hit the spot. The flavors were fresh, vibrant, and well-balanced, making for a hearty and satisfying meal. My only criticism--and it's a significant one for me--is the use of aluminum serving containers. I realize some restaurants still use them, but I personally don't think food should be served in direct contact with aluminum in 2026 when so many other options are available. I bought a torta and it was not good at all. Bread was soggy the mayo they used shouldn't be on tortas. I will not come back here at all

Disclaimer: this is for their food truck. I ordered a Choriqueso Torta. While it didn't blow my socks off, it was still a solid, respectable, and flavorful sandwich. To start, the bread was just right - it was soft enough to be pleasant to bite into without falling apart or being so firm biting down squeezes all the filling out like it's the last drop of toothpaste! The chorizo was great! It was fresh and had fantastic flavors with great spice and heat. I also appreciate that the protein was skimped on. Also, the cheese paired with it very nicely. Where it comes to veggies, these were a pleasant touch, offering some freshness and balancing the heavily savory and fatty notes of the chorizo and cheese. Finally, service and value: While I was the only person with an order, getting the sandwich took a minute or two, and it tasted fresh. As for value, the Torta was perfect for lunch, filling, and reasonably priced at $9.95. My friends and I went to Tenoch on a Thursday evening after work. We actually went to the location in North Point, but it looks like they don't have a Yelp page yet. Considering it's a change, I think it's safe to assume the food is relatively standard. When we first arrived around 7pm, it wasn't too busy, but by 8pm, there were more customers there. If you're going to come to Tenoch, order the one of the tortas. One of my friends ordered the plato carnitas and said it was pretty standard. It looked like the kind of bowl you could get at a place like Chipotle, but with less toppings. The rest of us ordered tortas - the torta vegetales and the torta campechana. The sandwich itself doesn't really look like much, just a thick bread with some filling. I thought they were delicious, though! The onions and chipotle mayo really brought the tortas to the next level. One last note, I was hoping to order the horchata, which was on the menu, but they didn't actually have it available. Headed to the north end! For Italian food, you ask? Ya sure, pasta is amazing but this spot is perfectly, weirdly placed on the outskirts of Boston's Italian hotspot. I definitely recommend eating in if you can. There's really no parking in the north end, but most of the food here (especially the tortas) are best eaten fresh. I can see the bread and tortillas going soggy real fast. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and helpful, and the food was fast and fresh. Fish taco - crisp, fresh ingredients, so yummy Torta campechana - the pork is incredibly flavorful and tender, it's simply swoon worthy and makes total sense that it's one of their most popular tortas Torta asada - the first few bites felt like a steak and cheese sandwich (which it basically is), but the more you get into it, the more fillings you get. The jalapeños added the perfect bite, and we love oaxaca cheese Overall I'd give this place is 4.5 stars! We weren't there for long (it's a quick casual meal), but there were so many people flowing in and out for both take out and eat in. Don't be fooled by the location, it's teensy but packs a punch. This place makes pretty good food. My favorite dish is the torta asada. It's one of my favorite sandwiches in Boston. They are not always consistent in their preparation/construction of their dishes and sometimes the cheese isn't melted or they forget an ingredient or some small thing along those lines. Still, they make good food. I tend to avoid going into the restaurant ever since I walked in and one of the two people behind the counter said "Let me guess, a chicken burrito. Gringos always get the chicken burrito." I've never had a chicken burrito from that shop. Sure, crack a joke if you'd like, but it certainly didn't make me feel comfortable. This is a great place to grab a torta (basically it's if a taco and a sandwich got married and had a kid). However I found that there is some variability with the protein fillings you get as some days they're 3-4 star or can be up to a 5 star when it comes to flavor (and we've experienced a gamut of consistencies). Our last trip we had the following (as of 1/2021): - Torta Asada - $8.90 - For the value this is the sandwich to get if you're unsure (there's a bunch of other options). The pulled pork can vary depending on when you go. Some days it's absolutely delicious, other days it can be less so. I'd advise on going when it's busy to ensure constant turn over. The flavor profile however is great with the pork, cheese, bread and sauce in a great savory harmony. - Quesadilla Pollo - $6.90 - We got this just to give it a try and unfortunately the chicken in ours was pretty dry with not a lot of flavor. Unless you're a chicken person I'd try a more fatty protein (like steak) which is something we'll try next time. - Chips (with Guacamole) - $4.20 - Guacamole had great flavor but the chips were a bit meh (In my opinion some more salt would help). For the price I was hoping for a larger container of Guacamole. I would still say that this place is overall awesome and would recommend anyone that likes Mexican flavors to stop by and try. BE WARNED: If you have a torta make sure you have time to nap it off afterwards as this thing is HEAVY. The pixie fairy will stop by with a club afterwards so either plan accordingly (or maybe just eat half of it). read more

This was my first time going to Tenoch and it was awesome! It is a cool spot in east Cambridge. I'm not sure if parking is a convenient option, but it is accessible to the green line. There is an ok amount of seating that is spread out in different areas with a variety of style. Some good for individuals and some larger tables that could accommodate a group. Simple decorations and it was very clean. I went with a group of friends around 7pm, and it started getting busy around 7:30-8pm. We went for dinner and got the torta campechana, torta vegetales and the Plato carnitas. All were good, I definitely recommend the tortas - very large plush bread with flavorful filings. I split one with a friend and I still felt content with the amount. The carnitas plate was good, but fairly simple. Overall, I definitely recommend Tenoch for a solid, flavorful meal (particularly the tortas) at a reasonable price (around $10). read more

The quesadilla was good; however, my only complaint for it was that there was too much pico inside, so the quesadilla got a bit soggy on the bottom. The chips and guac were also good, but I wished they gave us more guac since they gave us way too many chips in comparison. Five stars because: First, the food at all of the Tenoch locations I've visited is great. I can feed my whole family (picky, veggie, serious meat eater, etc) easily and the price is right. Second, I had a great customer experience today at the Medford location. I was rushing because hockey season is up and running again and managed to order from the Malden location instead of Medford. I ran into the Medford shop in the pouring rain to pick up my order and of course, it wasn't there.. the ladies behind the counter were so nice and made me the steak quesadilla, that my 14yo was counting on before practice, and wouldn't let me pay. So nice and unexpected. I really appreciate them and that kindness to a rushing mom. I'll be back next time with the right order;) read more

I'm an LA native and struggled with finding authentic Mexican food throughout undergrad in Boston. I stumbled across Tenoch on accident when I took myself on a solo date in the North End. This place is a complete hole in the wall, and I'm kicking myself for not finding it sooner! I ordered 4 tacos- asada, al pastor, and adobada. All of the tacos were juicy, flavorful, and authentic, served with small soft tortillas, limes, and salsa verde, just like the tacos that I'm accustomed to from the taco trucks back in LA. The adobada was definitely the star of the show. Flavor-wise, I wouldn't say that these tacos are on the same level as LA at all, but for Boston, these tacos definitely stole my heart. If I were still living in Boston, I'd make it a point to come here regularly. However, I graduated from undergrad this past December and wish that I found Tenoch sooner! read more

This place is legit! I'm from California where we know good Mexican food and this Oaxacan-style gem delivers! We have only been once so far and decided to play it safe and order tacos and a torta. The pork tacos were the best but the Torta Campechana was even better. The price is very reasonable for being in the North End/Boston. Chips and guacamole were overpriced but still delicious. You can tell Mexican food is truly great when you don't have any digestive imbalances afterwards...that means they are cooking with healthy ingredients and not the cheap stuff... Ended up here craving Mexican one night in Boston and saw this place had excellent reviews. The ordering was a little confusing and could have just been miscommunication. We didn't quite get what we ordered (got sour cream but no cheese in burrito, despite asking for those items to be added and paid the extra cost, and didn't get pico de gallo in the quesadilla, etc), but food was overall fine. The guac itself was pretty flavorless. I was also disappointed in the ambiance. The tables were super sticky - we asked for it to be cleaned but there was still old food/residue left on it after a wipe down. My sister who got a torta LOVED it but the rest of us were underwhelmed. Not sure I'd be back here, but for those who like tortas, it seems like a great place for takeout! read more

We have been eating the fish tacos for takeout the last few years. They are terrific all the time. The tortillas are doubled or tripled for each taco, warm soft tortilla. I ordered the "Torta Combinada" which was a large sandwich of ground beef, ham, cheese, onion and tomato. Lightly grilled and wrapped in paper, it was easy enough to eat and quite tasty. Great little hidden gem! And I mean hidden because it is surrounded by Italian eateries. Anytime a Mexican place advertises "HUARACHES" and "HUITLACOCHE", well, ai have to call their bluff and order it, just to see how authentic they are. To begin with, the first thing that caught my eye was the name: "TENOCH". Usually Mexican restaurants start with a pronoun: "EL, LA, LOS, LAS..." those are, in my opinion, garbage.
