    Chicken katsu rice burger
    Marielle J.

We were here for a long weekend last weekend and my bf stumbled across this place! Small kinda set up. The guy ringing up orders and cooking was humorous! We got 2 chicken katsu rice burgers. Literally the buns are made of rice -- it can hold for a bit before it breaks down so expect it to be a little messy. The popcorn chicken was juicy with a bit of sauce! It was one of the best I've ever had. Kimchi fries were not bad but I did not expect it to be just corn...when I thought of vegetarian that there would be carrots and maybe some broccoli. It's near a residential neighborhood so we parked on the street. The restaurant is also next to another Asian eatery called The Kitchen which I would have to try next time I'm in town! The road is closed off on purpose for people to walk and eat (where the restaurant is...you'll see why when you're there) obviously the main road is not closed. They some nice benches to eat across from the restaurant.

Must try eatery for UBC students! Happy Hour Daily from 2-5pm 15% off‼ We Tried: Chicken Katsu Rice Burger Kimchi Fries, Vegetarian version Popcorn Chicken Bowl Make sure to ask for their special sauce combo for your popcorn chicken bowl. They add house teriyaki, house hot sauce, and Japanese Mayo. I got to meet one of the co-owners and he was energetic and truly passionate about his business and the food. Food 4.5/5 (the rice patty was too thick for me) Parking 5/5 (plenty of free and pay street parking around the block) Service 5/5

Absolutely disgusting! I am a return customer, it was never like this before, wonder if the ownership has changed. Will NEVER go again

This place has gone downhill sooo much since it started. I went there recently on the 13th April, 2025 and ordered a beef rice burger. OMG, one of the worst rice burgers I have ever had. The sauce was terrible, the rice had soooo much water that it almost had a paste texture. Absolutely disgusting, waste of money and time. I regretted so much, will NEVER go there again.

SCHMACKKKKKK. I have always wanted to try a rice burger and I am so glad I was finally able to! You can tell that this establishment makes their food with love. Their vibes are so energetic and entertaining. Overall, love the people and the food. We got the prawn rice burger and kimchi fries. Both HIT the spot. The sauce was bomb and the fried prawns were so crispy and tender. Not gonna lie though the burger is a little messy but I didn't mind it at all. The kimchi fries were also delicious. The fries are shoestring and they gave a lot of both fries and kimchi. They also put sweet corn and kewpie mayo which went super well with it all together! You mist try this place! Whenever I am back in Vancouver I will definitely be coming back here.

One-line review: Different for this area -- a fun explore. We lived in Hawaii for a number of years, and one of the food items I've missed is musubi (picture a large nigiri sushi with grilled spam on top and you won't be far off). Rice burger feels like a spin on that idea. They apparently grill 'balls' of rice to use as the 'bun' of a burger and put all kinds of fun things in the middle. Spam is available, but we went for: - the Farmhouse (chicken, beef, and pork). This was my favourite of all the items we ordered -- meaty and tasty. - Spicy katsu chicken. This was fine, but why stop with chicken when you could get the whole farmhouse?!! - Fries (not special but fine) - drink - Spicy pork bowl. This was the disappointment in the bunch. Wouldn't order this again. Pricing/value was decent. It would have helped had we just omitted the spicy pork bowl. We found free parking on the street. Service was friendly. Bottom line: Would do this again, though we haven't rushed back.

    Vegetarian option.

I did not know what to expect with Rice Burger but wow, so good. I really wish there was one of these near where I live because I would eat it constantly. The vegetarian option had such a good flavor. Outdoor seating available.

    Beef yakinku rice burger

We got a beef yakinku rice burger and popcorn chicken to go. We ended up not being too impressed with the rice burger as found the rice a bit too mushy but the flavour was there. Popcorn chicken was not bad. They do have happy hour from 2-5pm so would recommend coming during that time to get their offerings.

    Excited for our rice burgers!

What a unique concept. Delicious meat served in between two rice buns. We got the spicy chicken katsu and korean spicy pork and neither disappointed. Also, we lucked out and it happened to be a Sunday so if you spend over $10 you get free chicken popcorn chicken! Given the fact that we got free chicken unexpectedly, we would have tried the beef yakiniku instead of the chicken katsu so we will definitely try that next time since we did OD a little on chicken - haha. The sauciness of the korean spicy pork made that rice burger just so damn tasty, we can only imagine the beef. They also have the option to make these burgers bowls, and I saw some funky items like kim chi fries and curry croquettes. What a great fusion of Asian food. If you're near UBC, swing out and come try Rice Burger. We ate on the church lawn diagonally across this location and it was just pure summer bliss!

Recently open rice burger store. Went Monday lunch time not busy at all. There are indoor and outdoor seatings. Side street right outside is closed for traffic and with bench/umbrella seatings. Ordered first item on menu farmhouse burger with beef pork and chicken. Took about 10 min to get my food ready. One other customer was waiting and guessed most ordered online. Never tried this type of rice burger before. In my farmhouse burger the fried/Katsu chicken definitely stood out and you may have difficulty finding the taste of beef or pork. Chicken tasted pretty good. Next time may try individual meat burger instead of mix. They have tap/bottle water some side drink no alcohol

A very interesting concept of burgers with rice buns. It's surprisingly practical and the rice does not fall apart, but still quite difficult to eat because it's stacked so high. There are many options to choose from and ranges between many asian cuisines such as Japanese and Korean. They also have kimchi fries which were super delicious but a little expensive for what they were. The entire menu is a little expensive for what it is. The place is quite small, with only 2 tables and some counter seating. There's also a few tables outside. It didn't seem very busy on a weekday at lunch time. The burgers took some time to prepare and the wait was especially noticeable because there were no other people in the restaurant at the time. But it is quite reassuring that everything is freshly cooked! The chicken katsu was super crispy and quite well proportioned to the rice. Overall the experience is very similar to eating a rice bowl, but it was a good rice bowl :)

My partner and I finally got the chance to drive down to Rice Burger to try their burgers. The concept of a rice burger was delicious, definitely a twist to the traditional burgers. Our favourite part of the rice burger was actually the rice itself. Loved the crispy exterior, it was toasted to bring out the fragrance of the rice (it tasted like the bottom of a clay pot rice). The rice held its form even after we took a bite out of it. The spicy chicken Katsu had a nice thin batter, but enough to make it crispy. The chicken was cooked perfectly, making it juicy for every bite. We do think this was lacking some flavour, somewhat bland and it wasn't spicy. Maybe ask for extra sauce since the rice soaks up the sauce. The beef yakiniku was much more flavourful compared to the spicy chicken Katsu. We also got the Kimchi fries, highly recommend this! Exploding flavours of kimchi and the perfect amount of sauce. The topping to fries ratio was also great, the toppings also added texture. TIP: If you go on Sundays and spend more than $10, you get a free half-order of popcorn chicken. Covid Protocols: Sanitizer is located right by the door, they currently don't do dine in, but there's two patio tables outside for their customers. PRICE|$$ 。$8.50 Beef Yakiniku 。$8.50 Spicy Chicken Katsu 。$4.00 to make it a combo (drink + fries), add $3 to upgrade to Kimchi Fries. This is an interesting twist on the traditional burger! It is a small place with limited seating but with a nice variety of "burgers" but instead of bun you get rice! The toppings are Japanese/Korean style, with choices such as beef yakiniku, spam, and tempura. You can combo it up for an extra $3.50 which includes fries and a drink. I ordered the beef and my wife had the spam (you can order double meat for $2.50). There are many delicious options to choose from!

Rice Burger struck me as being an example of what fast food should be. Inexpensive, simple, with a clear concept and a to-the-point menu. And, above all, delicious! I wish rice burgers were more of a trend, because the texture and flavour of those rice patty buns was a welcome and tasty change from the traditional bun. I had the spicy pork burger (not actually spicy at all, but they're in Point Grey so I'll forgive them that) and the kimchi fries. The burger was delicious despite the lack of capsaicin, with a flavourful sauce that absorbed well into the rice patty. The matchstick fries were covered in a generous helping of sweet-and-sour sauce and a nice mayo, along with beef and kimchi (pork is another option), and were really tasty. And again - very affordable! And the staff were chirpy and fun too. I really wish they had locations elsewhere in Vancouver; I would absolutely eat here more often if given the opportunity.

While they were preparing our food, we made our way down the long hallway to the back where the speakeasy was located. We just wanted to peek our heads in, but didn't stay for a drink. The cool thing about Hundy is that the speakeasy will serve their food while apparently also serving up some tasty cocktails. But back to Hundy and the food.
