Best Chinese food in all of NWI. I am vegan and they make awesome tofu dishes. Vegetable soup w/ bean curd is delicious. Lunch specials are excellent. Tofu can be substituted for any meat. The tofu is fried and tastes really good. Vegetable fried rice is good. And the one thing that is better here than ANY other place is the vegetable spring roll. I live in Portage, so i usually go to a place by my house. Last year, they put a menu in my mailbox illegally. I decided to try them out on the way back from southlake mall... Pretty good! Yesterday, I stopped there for a quick bite to eat on the way home from southlake. As i pulled into a tight parking spot (they're ALL very tight) My new car almost got clipped by someone pulling out of the adjacent space without looking all directions... I should've taken that as a bad omen! Lol! I got a small beef-fried rice and noticed it was ready way-too-soon! When i got home, i dumped some soy sauce and started to shovel it in, cause i had to get afew hrs sleep before work... Argh! Awful! (barf)! I gave it to the dog and imediately called them. They even remembered my name, i called so soon! I waited to hear the guy offer to credit my plastic, but he only offered to "see what he could do" next time i stopped by, "IF" i ever stopped by again... LOL! LOL! LOL! I did'nt bother to re-peat his comment about "IF" i ever stopped by again! That will be when pigs fly (AND) ice cubes are on sale in hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I've yet to receive bad service here. I give the food 3 stars but the service brings it to an overall 4 . Every time I order from here my food arrives within 15 min and they are very flexible on their substitutions and exclusions and as far as dining in the restaurant , very very clean, very quick , very consistent and polite . Food was o.k. But the taste was not as good as Wing Wa in Miller. The pork fried rice looked pre made and scooped with a ice cream scooper. The egg roll was dry and not sure what was in it. If you don't know what good Chinese Food is this is your place. Enjoy! read more

I am a truck driver. I've ordered Chinese delivery all over the United States. Rice Garden beats ALL Chinese restaurants, hands down!!! Their house special fried rice is so tasty and FULL of meat. Most deliveries arrive and it royally irritates to know what I paid for a little meat and a whole lot of rice. It is delicious!!! Their pan fried dumplings are bigger and FULL of meat. I am EXTREMELY pleased. I also ordered Chicken with garlic sauce but I have to save that for lunch tomorrow. The house special fried rice and pan fried dumplings were too good to stop eating. This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the Hobart-area. I found this place on yelp after being constantly disappointed in the available options of quality Chinese food in Hobart. The reviews looked good, so my hubby and I decided to try them for dinner. We walked in and were promptly greeted and told we could be seated anywhere if we were eating there. Table service at a Chinese restaurant: 1 star. A minute or so later, she was at our table asking for our drink order and giving us menus. We both ordered General Tso Chicken dinner specials (entree, pork fried rice, egg roll), and pops (I substituted my pork fried rice for beef, which was just a small charge more). The server was very friendly and attentive, even though she was the only person working the counter, the place was full, and she was also taking walk-in orders: 2 stars. The food came out steaming-hot and smelling amazing, and the egg rolls came with a side of homemade sweet & sour sauce: 3 stars. The General Tso chicken was delicious: it was perfectly breaded and cooked, it was all white-meat chicken, and had just a little bit of a spicy kick (as it should). The beef fried rice was also delicious and had a great flavor. The egg roll was one of the best I've had in a long time. Great flavor and consistency. There was not any shrimp in the egg roll, which I was very happy about, as I don't eat seafood. As far as take-out Chinese restaurants go, this one definitely earned it's 5-stars: great service and great food, with the bonus that they have table service and also deliver to my house (which I found out later). Really good food here served hot and fast. The dining room has maybe 14 tables and you can expect the regular Chinese restaurant menu.

Not bad, but they don't carry pan fried noodles. To me that is important, and the other 3 local Chinese places do.

If I could give them 10 stars I would! I have eaten Chinese food in 44 states and I am telling you that Rice Garden is so good that I will not eat Chinese anywhere else. Every time I go back to visit family, I sneak into town early so I can get my Chinese food!
