I don't know why there isn't any good Chinese food in Astoria. It's a shame. To be fair I didn't try any sushi, so maybe they specialize more in that. But the Chinese food was super disappointing. I can make better at home. The price wasn't bad though. read more

This place is nice for a quiet dinner. They also often play games on the TV at the bar, which is great, since that's a bit sparse right here. The bartenders are always friendly and the service is good. The space feels cozy and quiet but is not small. The food is a mix of Japanese and other Asian, and the menu selection is pretty big. We went here on Valentine's Day because every other place was full...this looked like a place we could enjoyed a nice dinner in a romantic atmosphere, (the decor is nice) without waiting forever. There were just 4 couples. When we entered, nobody accompanied us to a table, the guy at the counter just indicated a table and rushed us to sit there. There was a couple sitting next to us. They had been holding a menu forever and nobody was going to take their order, with a restaurant half empty. The guy was getting upset, you could see, and went to call for a waitress. When they took their order, and took away the menu, I was expecting those menus to end up at our table ( we had been sitting there for 10 minutes or so, with nobody attending us or even bothering). No such thing. The waiter run ( where was he running?) making no eye contact and leaving us there. I did like our neighbors did, and went to ask for a menu The waitress asked me what I wanted to drink, I said a green tee, she run away..not even bothering to ask my boyfriend what he wanted. This didn't look good but we wanted to give them a chance They came to take our order after another 15 minutes... I don't know after how long, I realized our neighbors got just one order, the lady was eating on her own, the guy was looking at her and still waiting for his food. This was the same for another table where two friends were sitting and just one was eating.. After a while my boyfriend got his terayaky, I had ordered sushi and was still waiting.and I waited for an hour and a half. Me and the guy sitting next table, were still waiting. Again I need to underline the restaurant was half empty...the waitress told me like four times " two minutes, it's coming" and it never was At a certain point, with my boyfriend done with his dinner, they came in two at our table, since I wanted to cancel my order and just leave..they repeated" tempo minutes " adding that the chef was alone and they were taking care of takeaways This left me speechless...how can you serve one person at a time, not even synchronizing guests, and give priority to people who order from home? I really wanted to go..but I was starving. Not to mention, the place was freezing, not sure they turned off the heating...when my food arrived I ate it with my coat on. I got the food more or less when the guy sitting next to us, got his own This place is a joke They brought us the bill and said for the inconvenience, offered my boyfriend a bier They were supposed to offer the rolls I got after literally one hour and a half of waiting time, in an empty restaurant Bad service, even worst coordination and managment .sorry, never coming back, they should just focus on take away and close for good. read more

This evening I visited Rice K with my girlfriend. The food was pleasant but the serving experience just ruined everything. We dine in restaurants frequently and I have never felt this humiliated in my entire life. Our server approached us in a very rude way, and she was trying to rush us with the order. When we asked what does the Rice K plate include, she could not describe it and she was trying to read it off the menu. Anytime she came to us she did not bother to give us a smile and make us feel we are welcomed in the restaurant. We assumed that her attitude is just the way she is, but then we realized she was nice to every other table but us. The same issue was with the bartender, "our friendly neighbor" Gabriel, he went around asking each table how are the cocktails or if they want a second round, but never came to us assuring we are satisfied. After we ordered our main course we asked her to add on a Crunchy Roll Specialty, we did not receive it. We finished our entrees and since our server never offered any desserts we asked for the dessert menu, and ordered a Tempura Cheesecake. The cheese cake arrived in 5 minutes and while we were enjoying it, suddenly the forgotten crunchy roll arrived next to the cheesecake. Since we had an additional main course we asked for some chopsticks (better than using our desert spoons) and we asked for spicy mayo also. Probably this request triggered her patience, because she made a rude growling sound and left without saying anything and then returned with the requested items. The restaurant was not busy, at the beginning we were the only table in the restaurant, I do not see why wouldn't we deserve any friendly attention, and emphasizing again that every other table that arrived after us got a pleasant service. Maybe we were not worth it to get good service? We ordered 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and a dessert... but even if we would order 1 item and share, good services should be provided. Never going back again. I hope other guest will get a better treatment. read more

Rice K is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant in Astoria. The place is very hip and trendy, and music is great "Not too loud". They also have full bar which is great! Today I had their ocean set app, tuna chips and cheese wonton which is delicious! For main I have the rice k roll and sushi app. Everything is good, will definitely be back again! read more

This an Asian fusion restaurant, not an authentic Asian restaurant. So don't expect too much from this restaurant. I tried the food few days ago. To me the restaurant is no different from American style Asian restaurants. They serve Japanese, Chinese, Thai foods. Nothing special. However, if you would just want to try different types of cuisines not the taste, you could come to this restaurant. The service is good. read more

I've only had sushi here so far. It is absolutely fantastic, fresh and decently priced. The cocktail and wine list look fantastic as does the rest of the menu. I believe they have live music on the weekends as well. Overall, I'm very impressed. read more

really disappointed. Reviews only for delivery. Past few deliveries have been terrible. I specifically asked for my scallion pancakes not to be too crispy and they came burnt. Last few times I haven't gotten noodles with my soup. So I inputted it in my comments and they charged me for it. The general tso chicken was inedible and the chicken in broccoli didn't have sauce on it. It was sitting in a vat of oil. I can't continue to pay for delivery and get bad food. read more

My favorite place in queens for sushi and drinks! Rice K is great setting for a romantic night out with the wife. This is also a great place to watch any sporting event as they have more than enough TVs for the restaurant. such great vibes with the live music, ambient light and friendly staff. been here at least 4 times since discovering it this year. read more

I've been to Rice K a couple of times, without fail I always leave satisfied. Sushi is always fresh, the flavors in the special rolls amazing. The three stars are only in relation to today's delivery. Soup for $3 for a tiny container not worth it, in particular the miso soup which was pretty much all liquid. The low mein was ok but not the chicken in it. Anyway not so good this time around, maybe an off night but a bit disappointed. Love Rice K! It's mine and my husband's new favorite spot for takeout. We like to grab a drink at the bar or call in for delivery. The food is quality and delicious. The bar which had been revamped is great and the bartender is a lot of fun and makes tasty drinks. The owner is also very personable and attentive when we come in. Great lunch specials. Very fresh with lots of vegetables, not greasy and the hot and sour soup was excellent. I called ahead for pick up and went by on my way to the train and picked it up really fast. I got Kung poa chicken without indicating a spice level and it was not spicy, so if you want to sweat (I don't) you'll want to specify. Tons of food for $7. Amazing deal. read more

This has to be one if the most disappointing reviews to write. Rice K use to be my spot as the service was always great and the food excellent. Not sure what happened but this past time when I ordered takeout my food was never made. I was left waiting for over 30mins past when my order was suppose to be ready, reassured my food was coming in '2minutes' and it never came. I finally gave up and left. For too long I passed by this place and didn't give it a chance. It's great! Sushi is really good (I've had sushi in Japan), the place has great selection, reasonable prices, and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Decor is very nice as well, and they often have events. It has everything! It really deserves more foot traffic, which is why I felt the need to post this review. If you haven't given it a try, at least try it once. I actually think the sushi is better than the nearby (always packed) Watawa. read more

Just came in for a late lunch with my boyfriend. We each ordered the chicken bento box and split a spicy tuna roll. Delicious! So much food and for a great price! I used to order from these guys twice a week, and for the past 3 orders in a row the food was not right. We actually got very sick the last time we ordered from them, and these guys really should be considered for a visit from the department of health. In a city known for great Chinese this place is by far the absolute worst. I've had better Chinese meals in strip malls in the middle of nowhere. The coup d'grace when my order of house wonton soup contained no wontons . The chef , on a very slow night - the dining room was empty but for one patron- failed to include the ingredient for which the damned soup is named. My personal favorite dinner spot in Astoria. It's very clean, cozy and accommodating. I usually order dumplings to start, 2 original rolls and 1 speciality roll, a drink (they have cheap unlimited saki if that's your thing) and find my wallet very happy. This place has become a doll! The ambiance is cozy and elegant, the crew is great - smiling and fast - the food and drinks are just.. sublime! If you like japanese and chinese cuisine and haven't been there, you will come up with a new treasure. After the recently completed renovation, the place has become the place you want to hang out at.. Beautiful bar, great sushi bar and sitting tables, excellent lighting and colors plus exceptional live music on weekends and occasionally week-days. As about the food, I'll share with you what I tried: My first bite was Rock Shrimp Tempura with creamy citrus mango sauce and was perfectly seasoned, ideally crispy and balanced sweet, savory and sour leaving my taste cells plainly.. happy! Next bite was tuna chips (tuna, avocado, mango on top of organic tortilla chip) and was literally divine with a subtle aftertaste of wasabi mayo. Then came the Green Mussel, steamed with ponzu sauce and perfect in its simplicity.. And then I tasted the sweet flesh of shrimps, crab, tuna, salmon and yellow fish in one round and mushy bite: "Ocean Set". Once again, I was struck by the balance of sweet and savory. The assortment of "Grand Tastings" - that I completely recommend - closed for me with the Mongolian Beef Bun described as tender beef with jalapeno, onion, spicy sauce. But it's so much more than this! Scrumptiously spicy and oriental.. My last dish was Spicy Tuna Roll and I just loved it: tuna was fleshy and felt so fresh, while the rice around the roll was ideally crispy. To add to this pleasure of senses, I was joyfully sipping my Shanghai Girls throughout the meal and recommend it as well if you are into champagne cocktails. If not, I'm sure incredible Sherif behind the bar will make you something you will just love! I know, I wrote a lot already, but I can't skip the welcoming, positive figures of the owners, Sue with the beautiful smile and Kyle. They are a gorgeous couple with amazing energy and love for what they are doing. And you can tell. read more

Its really important to me that an avocado roll or anything with avocado is ripe and not hard. They had perfect avocados. I like the atmosphere and we got lots of free promotional drinks for their grand opening. My friends like the opera singer though I havent heard it yet. read more
