The Vietnamese food that we got from this restaurant was legit. The Pork Summer Rolls tasted fantastic. The Rice Noodle Soups (Beef Pho and Saigon Noodles) were hearty and well-balanced, with the only caveat being tough beef. Large portions overall. Our server Lawrence was very attentive and a delight to talk with. Definitely recommend!

They literally forgot we were there. Waiter said they were feuding with the kitchen but the kitchen got everyone else's food out. We waited an hour for our food and watched several to go orders walk out and new tables come in and get food. Very disappointing considering they only have 4 tables

August 26, 2023. Saturday. 2:30 PM. Every time my wife and I have visited Durango, Rice Monkeys has been closed. The reviews and the signage piqued our interest but walking by on weekends, the place was shuttered down. Hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 11 AM - 3 PM lunch and dinner 5 PM - 8:30 PM. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays. However, on this Saturday, it was open. The rain poured down, and they were about to close in 30 minutes. However, the sushi chef let me order a to-go, Funky Monkey roll ($18). This place had a cozy and tight sitting room, and I stood in the middle, waiting out of the rain. Funky monkey roll featured shrimp, tempura flakes, avocado, spicy aioli, cream cheese, topped with yellowfin tuna, and sirimi crab. Sorry, no picture of this roll. They placed sweet soy sauce in a dish on the side. Inside the to-go bag were two sets of chopsticks, napkins, wasabi, a healthy amount of fresh ginger and the aforementioned soy sauce. Service from the waitress and sushi chef was great, because they could have shut down orders. A group of three arrived after me and he took care of them too. He finished my order in about 7 minutes. We ate the roll in the parking lot of Ska Brewing. We could tell it had fresh ingredients and he added lots of avocado. I liked the roll without the sweet soy sauce, as it was cloyingly sweet. Wish we had sampled other rolls, but maybe next time.

Fantastic little spot for high quality rolls. Looking for a spot with some high quality rolls with tons of flavor? This is a great spot to check out. I ordered the lickity-split and I wish I could have ordered more. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and again very flavorful. My only regret was coming with family members who claim they like sushi but definitely only meant the like california rolls. They ordered a california roll and a shrimp tempura roll. We came on a Wednesday around 1:00 PM after a soak at the Durango Hot Springs (also highly recommend). We were sat immediately inside where there are only about three tables but there are more outside. I think those outdoor seats are a little higher demand because the weather was perfect.

We love Sushi! I know it was a stretch getting Sushi in Colorado, but it was really good! The only reason it wasn't a 5 star was that there are literally only 17 seats in the whole place! It is tiny! But service is great, and everything was really fresh tasting! They do take out! read more

Popped in for sushi and it was delicious! My fiancé isn't a huge sushi fan, but even he loved it! It's a small place, so come early to get a table. Our waiter was so friendly and even offered suggestions for things to do around Durango when we told him we were visitors. I especially recommend the roll called Funky Monkey (or something along those lines). read more

Fast, friendly service Our sushi rolls were scrumptious, crunchy, and fresh. The summer rolls were just perfect. And the miso soup... oh the miso soup was one of the best I've ever tasted. The place is tiny, but they sat us within 20 minutes, which was not too bad of a wait. We enjoyed the weather while waiting, which is a good trade off. read more

My friend and I came in around 5:45 on a crazy Saturday night. The sushi was great and all of the employees were very calm about all of the business going on. By the time we were almost done, the and wait for sushi was about 30/40 minutes. The owner is so nice! Will definitely be back! read more

SO DAMN GOOD!! Seriously, it's delicious. I've tried the Red Phoenix and Lime Twist rolls, the bang bang shrimp, the fried veggie egg rolls and their rice bowls. Everything is scrumptious, especially the sushi. As everyone else mentioned, the place is tiny and kinda cramped. But don't let that deter you - just get your order to go. read more

First off the food is totally ridiculous. HOWEVER, I have seen a lot of businesses come and go in this particular location, because it is inherently problematic. Too small, inconvenient seating et al. I recommend this HIGHLY as a takeout place, not someplace to go and enjoy some atmosphere. read more

My favorite restaurant in Durango. The soup is the most authentic Vietnamese food for miles. The only negative is the seating. If you go there during prime time, there are no seats. We order take out only. read more

Rice Monkeys is by far the best sushi place in Durango! The prices are fantastic, and the portions are generous. They also offer wonderful Pho and some great rice bowls. The seaweed salad is awesome, and the Miso soup is the best I have ever had ANYWHERE. Service is casual but friendly and competent. It is a tiny little place, but they deliver within the city and it is great for take out. read more

I drive over an hour to eat here. Their pho is magnificent! Service is wonderful. Reasonably priced too. My only issue with it is there is limited seating. The food is so great I don't mind sitting in the very back facing the wall (weird layout.) read more

Wonderful food, wonderful people . Absolutely love 'em This is an awesome, local eatery that serves up great dishes. We truly love it just the way it is. The owners and staff are the real deal - genuine, friendly, sincere, and hard working to the nth degree. They bust butt to provide good service and quality product - and they do. If you can understand this much, you too will appreciate the often crowded, sometimes noisy atmosphere, along with the great food. It's so loved by us locals that, it's very busy most of the time. If you have the time and don't mind if you have to wait to get seated in their small and intimate space, then you'll be pretty much assured of having a special experience. If you go expecting to get seated in short order, and receive the current wait staff corporate dialogue, then go to Applebee's. For that matter, all the worthwhile non-chain restaurants here in Durango are busy because they are loved. Naysayers stay home!! read more

Next roll we tried to order was a Las Vegas roll, to which the waitress didn't know what that was, nor did she have any recommendations. I like to order a standard California roll to test the chefs. Their California roll tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for 2 days before sending to us. And, they have an upcharge if you want real crab. I then ordered a specialty roll called the 3x tuna which was supposed to be spicy. It didn't seem spicy as much as just kind of spice on top. Overall I think going to a gas station for sushi might have been a better option. Way too expensive for what it was.

The sushi is really solid - best I've had in Durango. The orange chicken wings are also really great. Highly recommend the blue fin tuna if they have it in stock! Service was exceptional and the tables were quiet and comfortable. We will be back for sure!

Yum! Really nice service, excellent food especially the BBQ pork rice bowl, crunchy salmon bowl, and the Saigon Noodle Soup. It is small and popular so be prepared to wait for a table. They will take your name and phone number and give you a call when your table is ready. read more
