This really deserves a 4.5 star review! The food is outstanding, however for me it's a little pricey. I've been once before when it first opened, but wasn't impressed enough to write a review at the time. It's a little hidden on Main St and with a few other Chinese restaurants with $5.00 specials just down the street,this one seems to get placed on the back burner. SO decided he wanted Chinese last night and our two usual places were closed and on a whim we decided to try Rice Pot out again..this was the best Chinese I have had in a loooooooong time!! I got the Hunan Style chicken and SO got the honey sesame chicken. My dish was filled with excellent chicken and veggies with a ton of to die for Hunan sauce. AMAZING. This is the most delicious Chinese food I ate. And even better than P F Chang. I ordered mushroom beef dinner. the beef were so tender and flavorful. The mushrooms were from fresh mushrooms and were seared with wok so they were chewy texture on the edge. Not canned. The sliced onions were caromalded to their sweetness with browned edge. They come with rice. I choose steamed rice because I wanted to taste the true flavor of the beef and not let fried rice take over. I actually had so much left that I ate for lunch next day. 9/10/2016 I decided to order delivery service. Placed order at 1:10PM, and at 1:35PM my door bell rung with the delivery. That only took 25 minutes! If I were to drive there myself from my home it takes 8 minutes to get to Rice Pot. Evidently soon as I called my order in they started preparing, packing it, and immediately delivering it because the 3 dishes I ordered were still very hot (145 degrees fahrenheit as measured with a laser surface thermometer). We just tried the Rice Pot for the first time and like it very much! We were greeted with a warm smile, the food arrived very quickly and it was delicious! As the other reviewers said, the portions are huge! I particularly like the fact that the tableware (plates, bowls etc) are porcelain (not plastic) and very nice quality - it does make the meal more enjoyable. Located in the main downtown area of Duncanville Rice Pot is easy to find and has lots of nearby parking if you want to dine in or just do a quick order and take it away. The menu isn't as lengthy as most Chinese restaurants which is why I think they're so good. They focus on 16 key entrees and do them well. I opted for the chicken and broccoli, sauce on the side and I have to admit, I was very happy with my healthy meal. The chicken wasn't over cooked or gummy like I've had at Chinese restaurants closer to home. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and not a bit crunchy at all. The sauce had a wonderful flavor and was nice and mild just the way I like it. I ordered an appetizer of edamame. Nicely flavored, cooked well and the serving size could support 4 people. Not bad for $4, not bad at all. The portions are huge. Took me 3 days to to finish my order. You really can't beat the price here. I don't think they cook with MSG since I didn't get my standard after eating Chinese food headache or swollen feeling from too much salt. I don't know what's up with the bad reviews. I had shrimp lo mein & asked for it extra spicy as per a review. It was wonderful! It was the perfect about of spice for me & I generally add lots of hot oil when I eat Chinese. There was lots of yummy sauce that covered the noodles.Every bite was a delight. I will try veggie next time. Note all food is packed in reusable plastic to go containers & they put plastic utensils in your bag. Please be green and bring your own utensils like we do or if you aren't asking it home tell them that you don't need them. You could probably easily bring your favorite beverage in a travel cup & enjoy it on the patio. Mud Hook is a popular bar/restaurant next door. They often have live music outdoors. The Rice Pot is a jewel of an asian restaurant in a most unlikely place, Duncanville Texas! My wife and are are serious "Foodies" and not the type that just visits restaurants! We enjoy making really great food from scratch. So we were pleasantly surprised when we found ourselves on I20 looking for a healthy place to eat in the land of burgers and chicken fried steak. We arrived on a Tuesday night about 7:30 in the evening to discover what our fellow Yelpers have been describing as AWESOME Asian food! We heartily agree! We shared the Hunan Beef and an order of egg rolls which were delivered to our table after a short wait of 10 minutes or so. The egg rolls were nothing short of outstanding, light and crispy, served at the perfect temperature. The filling was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We could have eaten a dozen. The Hunan Beef was equally satisfying with perfectly cooked veggies and lightly marinated beef slices that were cooked to perfection and tender. We would have liked a few more slices in the dish but honestly the portion size was very generous as it was. But it was so tasty we wanted even more. If you live in Duncanville consider yourselves lucky to have an Asian restaurant of this caliber in your town, there is nothing in Tyler Tx that comes close. Updated review: I hate to give this place a low review because when it's good it's really good but the last three times I bought food there it was before noon and I could taste that the food was more than likely from day before.Today the rice is barely warm and is very "starchy" feeling and the chicken has putrid taste; I couldn't even swallow it. So my lunch ended up being one very good eggroll! I will only come here in the evening so hopefully by that time they have run out of food from the day before. read more

We've driven by the Rice Pot so many times and only decided to stop in recently. The restaurant is large. They have a section in the back for larger parties. The menu is posted above the counter. It's simple with reasonable prices. Nothing on the menu is over $15 from what I recall. I ordered the happy family and my love ordered lo mein. We ordered the fried dumplings as an appetizer. The appetizer came out within 5 mins and the entree's about 5 mins after that. The dumplings tasted spongy. My fiance ate them up without hesitation. I didn't like them but he did. My dish was mainly veggies and hardly any protein. The fried rice looked like brown rice that was dried and tasteless. I took one bite and didn't eat the rest. It was gross to look at and eat. I didn't like my dish. My fiance had enough lo mein to feed the two of us. His dish was way better. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. I don't see this becoming a place I become a regular at but do see it as an alternative to M&T. They also deliver and from what the reviews say it's pretty fast. I'll have to try a few more dishes and will update my review. For now it's ok but not great. read more

Very nice addition to Duncanville dining. We've been twice and each time the food was tasty and fresh. Great flavor but not overly salty. Prices are also a good value, everyone had enough leftover for another meal.
