Lucky Rice was such a let down for us. We got the shrimp lo mein and orange chicken with fried rice. Worst fried rice we've ever had. It looked and tasted more like brown rice. The food portions were huge though but they weren't that good. My shrimp lo mein was super dark, and tasted like they had just mixed a lot of hoisin sauce on it. We also got two egg rolls and they were so bad. It was practically a spring roll because they wasn't any pork in them. Just like two little square pieces of pork. You're better off getting the jack in the box egg rolls. That's how bad they were. It's getting two stars because the staff gave good service when we went to order and pick up and because it was quick. Wouldn't recommend grabbing your lunch or dinner from here. read more

Recently moved in to apartments next door and the complex promoted Lucky Rice. I thought it'd be cool to try it out and hoped it would be the usual fast food that serves a bow or plate with 1 or 2 sides and 1 or 2 entres... Nothing like that! Holy Texas-Sized Portions! I've never gotten Chinese food to-go that I could literally eat for 4 days! Bachelors take note! We ordered the Szechuan Shrimp ($11) with steamed rice. Came with an egg roll. We requested medium spicy, but it was way too spicy for me. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I like spicy, but I also like to taste my food, not have my tastebuds singed off by the capsaicin. Order mild, if you're like me. Luckily, my SO likes to sweat while he eats, so it didn't go to waste! Also ordered vegetable chicken ($10) for my 2 kids to share, which I also ended up eating. First time here, very friendly & professional staff. Prices are affordable and great value for big portion sizes. Would highly recommend asking for any msg or soy sauce on the side. My Pork Lo Mein at $12 was ruined by the excessively drowned soy sauce that was leaking inside the to go bag and coated all the condiment packs. The catfish with 4 huge pieces was $14, plus a little tip, dinner was $30 and could easily feed four adults or two adults & two kids. And my food wasn't greasy, which is nice. I gave the Lucky Rice restaurant Four stars because it's just standard Chinese American cuisine, (everything deep fried and/or fattening and sugary) although they do have a few healthier dishes. However the restaurant had a nice breeze (it was very airy) and it was comfortable. The seats all had at least some cushioning. The music sounded like hip hop. The food was good. The portions were huge. There is ample parking. The restaurant was very clean, although very small inside, and the restrooms were clean too. It was very typical (nothing stood out) but you know... I liked it so four stars. Of course there's always room for improvement.they could make it a little bit more unique. The buffet is small with about three entrees, a veggie, rice and noodles. But for $5.49 what can you expect? You don't have to get the buffet. You can get food by the pound to take out or eat there, or you can order from a menu from a select list of items. When I go to the Chef House on 4028 Cedar Springs Rd, I look at them bring my food out of kitchen and I have go tell them I want get my order and I know it's my order because I'm the only in the restaurant! Secondly, the food was very good! I have just relocated to the Dallas area a few months ago, and this restaurant by far has had the best and most authentic Chinese food. I have been going to some Chinese restaurants and when I ask for beef fried rice or pork fried rice they look at me like I am speaking in tongues! In my conclusion, I am a "fat guy" and I ordered one of the daily specials and it was enough food for my wife and myself plus I had leftovers! When Lucky's first opened several, years, ago they had the best Chinese food in this area. The food was very flavorful, customer service and delivery was excellent! The last few times that my family has ordered (Last time being April 2019) From Lucky's it has been very bland and highly disappointing. Not to mention finding a long black hair in my food.
