Cash only?? Who does that anymore? Supposedly they do it to keep costs down, and that they do, so who can complain about that? This is a traditional little hole in the wall with about 10 tables where actual Chinese people cook the food. You can see clear into the kitchen when you place you order and yup, there they are. The food is brought out to you hot, tasty and quick. They even make their own egg rolls. The small cup of soup is huge and the bowl of chicken soup is ginormous. I had the cashew chicken for under $4.00 with lots of nice plump cashews in it. The hubs had garlic chicken (not spicy) for a little over $4.00 and it was so flavorful I wish I had gotten it- I will next time. For three people we all had full meals, al a carte soup and one drink for $20.50 total. Take out boxes are .25 cents, but drink refills are free. I wouldn't go to this area after dark because the whole strip mall just looks a little scary. The food is okay this used to be one of my greatest Chinese restaurants to come to. I been going here since the original owners had it it was the hoping and popping place. I moved away came back a year ago and it is not the same place anymore. The people who took over are still there but the quality of the food isn't there. I just feel the made it to commercial and lost the personal touch it had the food does not taste the same it's similar but not the same! The last time I went personally the place wasn't seating people it looked like a homeless kitchen being run there bags and plastic silverware they were collecting your money from a table! read more

Great service and food at a very affordable price. Everyone gets that itch for some orange chicken or sesame chicken sometimes, so why not go somewhere that does it good? New China Town offers the standard americanized chinese cuisine, but they do it right. Meat dishes are plump, crispy, and juicy. Vegetables are tender from actually being cooked instead of a quick blanch. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. Very underrated in dallas. read more

Greasy rude liars. I came in one day and asked, as nicely as I could, if any of their food contained milk, cream, butter, cheese, or any dairy products. The woman behind the counter dismissively told me that if I wanted that, I should go somewhere else. Great! I said, as my friend is allergic (think severe lactose intolerance, extreme fatigue, cramps, gas etc.) Typically restaurants serve out tickets in the order they are received, but the person who came in after me with the same size order was served first. Fine, I thought, I guess whatever I ordered takes longer. The food ranged from tasteless to below average. The high points first: Fried Rice on the side: Seasoned well, but a little too greasy. Easily the high point of the meal. Szechuan chicken- The pepper on the menu indicated spicy, but this was a sugary sweet dish with the slightest inkling of heat somewhere. Heavy on the grease and over cooked to the point that each chewy meat piece slides down your throat like a slug. As far as cheap greasy Chinese food goes, this is below average in my experience. Excessive oil doesn't make up for bad flavor. Beef with Broccoli - For me, this is like pizza. Even if it's bad, it's still that same delicious combination of ingredients and spices that always hits the spot. This is some of the worst I've ever tasted. Very greasy and weak seasoning was a real let down. Steamed Dumplings - I'm really not 100% sure what was in these, but they didn't taste fresh. Soggy dumplings fall apart to reveal mystery blend inside. Tastes ok with sauce, but really disappointing. Mixed Lo Mein - What a greasy mess. Overcooked noodles with whatever nibs of meat they have left over mixed up in a starchy snot-like sauce. Nonononononono Wonton Soup - What happened? I'm pretty sure this was just hot water with a Wonton in it. No flavor whatsoever. To top it off, my friend of couse showed all the symptoms of dairy consumption and got sick. We love Chinese food, and will continue searching Dallas for something good. It's possible this place was better in the past, or just that I've been spoiled, so I don't blame the prior reviews, but steer clear of this place. This is not quality or tasty Chinese food, and you'll feel hoodwinked, sad, and ill later. read more

Picked up food from here yesterday and it was truly terrible. The "lo mein" was made up of linguine noodles and a weird sauce. The Kung-Pao chicken was flavorless. I go here cause it's convenient when I'm craving Chinese. It's okay food but what I don't like about this restaurant is that they charge for EVERYTHING. Want a togo box? Want a fortune cookie? Want more water? Get your wallet out. This food was okay considering that they only offer fried (no pork) or steamed rice . If you want pork in your rice you have to pay extra but they only put it on top of rice not mixed into rice . Oh man, oh man this place is good! And cheap! If you don't mind a non-hipster, non-fancy dinning room and you have cash you need to check this place out. Good size portions, a small is filling for one person, especially with egg rolls at $.85 and (6) dumplings for $3. Seriously good Chinese food. I will be back often. read more

I've been coming to New China Town for over 20 years, the prices are always low and the quantity and quality always high! The staff has always been very friendly and the place always clean. Love the spicy shrimp and veggies, hubby and son enjoy the D3 which is a huge combo featuring pepper steak and huge tempura shrimp. Best hot and sour soup around. We live outside of Dallas now and we still make the trip when ever we want GOOD Chinese food! read more

Probably the least inspired Chinese food I've ever had. Panda Express pulls off a better... everything. Price may be attractive, but I've never had a to-go order more screwed up - they forgot at least 2 items. And fried rice with little pieces of meat product and rice; that's all. No carrot, no peas. Never before had I thrown away a plate (styrofoam container) full of food, especially if I was starving, but I had no choice. I went to this hole-in-a-wall place (by reccomendation, go figure) and picked up my order to go (they don't deliver), and when I got back to my place of business (about 5 blocks away), I took one bite, and quickly regreted it. This was absolutely, by far, the WORST excuse for Chicken Lo Mein I had ever tasted. The noodles were so watery (it looked more like soup) and bland, and the steamed rice was so dry, that there was no way I could eat thisstuff, and I quickly threw the full (container) of food away. I would rather have eaten the stale nachos with cold cheese from the Elote (corn) lady in front of the convenience store next door. read more

If you have take out please don't just look at your food to make sure you have everything touch your food if it's fried; I ordered sweet and sour pork, beef broccoli and chicken fried rice and combination fried rice I spent $32 and was so disappointed and the food that the people inside the place was eating looks so delicious, when I got home the sweet and sour pork was hard as bricks it was black in the Middle where it had been refried over again it made me sick to think maybe they took it off a plate saved it and recooked it when I call them back that was the first thing she told me, we didn't cook old meat someone else had been eating, we just pre fried put it in the freezer and then fried again I knew she was lying so please be careful when you have take out they did my food quick and I was thinking how could they prepare it so fast I wasn't thinking but it was nasty, the only thing was fresh was the beef and broccoli, she did offer to give me my money back, I will not be eating there anymore. read more
