Came here at the nick of time for HH (3-6pm) and got the pineapple mint caipirinha to drink. It wasn't as sweet as I expected which is good although I wish there was a little more mint. I got the mixed appetizer to share and the picanha entree. I could not finish the entree, portion size is good here. In the appetizer, the chicken and codfish were particularly good but I may be biased because I had those when they were piping hot. It goes well with the mustard sauce and they also offered hot sauce which I took. The corn, rice, and cheese bread were decent but weren't must gets for me. The picanha steak itself was good even though I'm not a big fan of this style of meat. The fries were crispy and big, and the rice and beans rounded it all out.

In my last job, we had an employee who ran our Latin American customer service department and she was straight out of Brazil. Naturally, I had to pick her brain on where the best Brazilian food in Manhattan was, and the only place she would really hang her hat on was Rice X Beans in Hells Kitchen. A year later, I cashed in this mental note and made the push to the intersection of 10th Ave and 48th street with my big bro. We sat down and were greeted by our server who had a strong Brazilian accent, which got me excited. It screamed authenticity. It's crazy how a simple accent from a server can send me from Manhattan straight to a small restaurant in Rio. We scanned the menu and I thought it was interesting how there seemed to be a strong Caribbean influence, as there were empanadas and sweet plantains... but a quick google search tells me that plantains are originally from Southeast Asia and Empanadas originated in Spain. The more I learn about the world, the more I realize I truly know nothing. We went with 4 empanadas (2 beef and 2 chicken), BBQ ribs ($16), the Picanha for 2 ($70), and a side of plantains. The empanadas were sensational, but in hindsight we should have just got 4 beef as they were much more flavorful than the chicken. Hindsight is always 20/20 though. The ribs were the only real miss of the meal, as they were just a bit bland and served luke warm, which concerned me for the main event that was the Picanha. However, when that Picanha came I knew we were in good hands. An enormous portion of the iconic Brazilian style top sirloin that came with fries, farofa, rice, beans, and a side salad. It was so much food that it barely fit on our table for 2. A beautiful site. This steak was perfectly medium rare, well seasoned, and had a rich, beefy flavor with a buttery melt-in-your-mouth fat cap. The sides were an ideal pairing with this cut of steak, with the rice and plantains being the standouts. This was almost like a jasmine rice where you could taste each individual grain, and had a subtle garlic and onion flavor. These plantains were some of the best I've had in the city, as they were carmelized with a soft and tender texture. They taste even better than they looked which is saying A LOT. I sound like a broken record at this point, but it always amazes me how in New York, you can get a high level of any cuisine from across this beautiful planet. Also, shoutout to my former coworker for the rec. You can learn something from everyone. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

My fiancé and I were craving Brazilian on a random Saturday night. We found this place and read the positive reviews so we came without a reservation. We walked in around 7:30pm and there was no wait for a table which was really nice! The place was busy enough to give it a lively ambiance without it being too crowded that it was overwhelming. The restaurant is small and cozy, with lots of greenery and tropical motifs that make it feel open and refreshing at the same time. Service was excellent! Our waiter helped us with our questions and gave us great recommendations for dessert. We got two caipirinhas that were very refreshing and a little sour-- also not too sweet which I enjoyed! For food we split: - Pao de queijo: came with 5 pieces of warm cheese bread. Super fluffy and flavorful. Had the right amount of chew and moisture while keeping a crispy crust! Highly recommend. - Chicken stroganoff: probably one of the best chicken stroganoffs I've had in the city so far! The chicken was so tender and it came in this rich, creamy tomato sauce. This was perfectly paired with warm white rice and some salty and crispy shoestring potatoes. Absolutely divine! Would come back just for this. - Seafood moqueca: another amazing dish! I appreciate the wide variety of seafood in it (shrimp, calamari, white fish) and also the deliciously bright and coconutty sauce. The calamari were a bit too chewy but the rest of the seafood was cooked to perfection. This moqueca was on the lighter side of other ones I've had before which was a great balance with the stroganoff. - Black bean side: we got a side of black beans which was very generous! The beans alone were too salty but when paired with rice, they were perfect. The portion was large so we took some home. - Brigadeiros: this was a dessert that our waiter recommended and it was amazing. Even though they are small (comes with 3), these are so rich that even one feels like enough. Sweet, and heavy on the chocolate, with a touch of texture from the chocolate sprinkle topping that has less sugar so gives a bit of a bitter contrast. Really enjoyed these! Overall, I really liked this place! I enjoyed that we could walk in without the stress of a reservation, the food was delicious and very comforting, and the service was good. Would definitely come back for their chicken stroganoff and their Pao de queijo! The ambiance is also super cute and lowkey. Highly recommend.

Rice & Beans Restaurant - A Taste of Brazil in the Heart of NYC Just ordered the Sapicao, Calabresa Sausage, and Yuca from Rice & Beans, and wow--this place knows how to honor tradition with soul and spice. The Sapicao was a delightful surprise: creamy, savory, and layered with textures that reminded me of festive gatherings back home. It's comfort food with flair, and you can taste the care in every bite. The Calabresa Sausage was smoky, bold, and perfectly grilled--exactly what you'd hope for when craving that Brazilian churrasco vibe. Paired with the fried yuca, which was golden and crisp on the outside and tender inside, it made for a plate that felt both rustic and refined. Service was friendly, and the portions generous. Whether you're Brazilian, Brazilian-adjacent, or just curious about authentic flavors, this spot delivers. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu--and maybe bring a few friends from church next time for a proper feast.

I discovered this place through a friend and it is such a good find. The food was exceptional. While we all had the steak the whole menu looked good and had a wonderful range of steak, seafood, poulty and vegetarian options.

Came to this cute Brazilian with a twist of Caribbean flairs and unique handcrafted drinks in Midtown West  A small cozy restaurant that probably seats 30 people and a couple of tables outside.  We got there before 5 p.m. on a weekday, and it was empty. Their selection of music wasn't too loud, but it kind of sounded like live music.  Their food was delicious, and portion-wise it was perfect. What we ordered  - Caipirinha lime Brazillian rum - Per Armor: Lebron cachaca ginger beer, lime juice, and pear juice.  - Carioca's beef stew: slow-cooked cubes with garlic, onions, sweet peppers, Tomatoes serve with rice and black beans. - 12 oz. grilled ribeye steak served with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, and cheese risotto. Port wine reduction sauce on the steak.  - Cuban Pulled Beef: Cuban-style pulled beef, with sweet plantains, rice, and beans. - Brazilian-style caramel custard  - creamy coconut pudding served with caramel and prunes  Everything was delicious except for the desserts. It didn't really impress us.  The service was amazing especially our waiter.

This is a small, very cute Brazilian restaurant that we decided to try out after reading the great reviews. They have outdoor seating, but it was rainy, so we sat indoors. When you walk inside the bar is the main attraction. The decor is simple and cute. However, the chairs were not very comfortable. For drinks, we ordered the regular caipirinhas, which were really good. We got the pao de queijo, which I am a huge fan of, and the bread was delicious. The order comes with 5 very small pieces of bread and is $10, which seems overpriced. The bolinho de arroz were good but not my favorite. For the main course, we shared the picadinho Carioca, which was the beef stew, rice & black beans, and sweet plantains. The portion was very generous. I didn't think the beef was seasoned well enough, and the beans had a very bland flavor. Maybe my expectations are too high since the Brazilian food in Astoria is very good, but I just was not blown away by the flavors here. I would return for the drinks and the pao de queijo.

Really good! I got the chicken and cheese pasteis but the portions for everything were really good and I liked the cheese pull. Good service too

Two of us dined at this restaurant on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly at an outside table (per our request). The food was delicious, and portions were generous. I got the pear spritz as a cocktail. I wouldn't order it again. The service was a bit slow. It's a cute little restaurant. We did end up having to move our table to a different one because an employee from the restaurant beside it was stacking up bags of garbage right next to my seat. The server was happy to move us. Lots of takeout orders being picked up, so that might be the better choice but overall it was a good experience.

These days I'm rarely inspired to write a review, but let me just say, Rice X Beans did not fail to impress. We went with a group of 7 and found the staff to be kind, the price fixe menu items to be remarkably authentic and delicious. We had 5:00 reservations prior to a 7:00 show, and they made sure our dinner was paced with our timeline in mind. Our group shared apps and bites of entrees and dessert, and every single thing was phenomenal. I can't say enough about what a wonderful dining experience this was.

Let's just keep this to ourselves, shall we? Caipirinhas - can you say that correctly? It's small. Its bar is lovely. The food is unbelievable. No I'm serious. The empanadas were amazing. The cod croquettes were delicious. Feijoada is the star of the show. We got the small portion and we brought some home. Make a reservation. If you are lucky enough to score a bar seat- even better.

There were so many recipes I rarely have the opportunity to experience, yet here they were - all at the same bar. I particularly enjoyed the roasted zucchini, pickled tomato, greens with roasted pears, and persimmons. For those who require animal protein, smoked salmon and chicken salad were available, as well as pork at the Feijoda bar. Speaking of which, I wasn't a fan of that section. The Feijoda was too salty while the lentil soup was too bland. The ambiance was elegant and staff were professional. There were a few issues for me personally: none of the staff replenishing the food spoke English, they had to correct my bill twice, and the person who answered my call was scripted and mechanical - I might as well talk to a bot.
