What an unassuming but amazing place - who knew you could find a Korean restaurant/American diner just a block away from Wrigley Field? Who even knew you could combine those two into one spot? We've been a couple times, and while it can be a little tight inside we were able to come with our little baby as well. I haven't actually tried the American diner side of things other than the fries just because the Korean side has so many enticing options. The spicy buldak chicken brings the heat. The galbi makes for a delicious brunch and the soondubu tofu soup comes out lava hot like you'd hope. The service is great and they really loved our baby which was super fun for him. If only they were open on Sundays! I get they need a break, but some soondubu would have really helped my dads night out hangover. Still, will come back when they are open! read more

Went here for lunch and tried and few apps and split the beef bulgogi. The beef bulgogi was so good! We definitely ran out of rice towards the end, but it was so saucy and tasty. The crispy mandoo was also super good - would get the 8 pcs if we went back. The crispy tofu was decent. We ordered from Rice'N Bread last night after looking for something new to try. We read the amazing reviews on Yelp and ordered right through the app. The food came in about 30ish minutes which we were pleasantly surprised about. It was piping hot and traveled well! I went with the chicken bulgogi and my partner tried the chicken over rice. We also got a side order of the buldak. The buldak was hands down my favorite item we ordered. The chicken was flavorful, cripy, and perfectly cooked. It was spicy, but not to the point where you can't eat it. The chicken bulgogi wasn't my favorite unfortunately. It was very soupy and everything in it kind of moshed together. I also didn't love the flavor. I've only ever had beef bulgogi, so it could just be that chicken isn't for me! We ended up swapping meals halfway through because my partners was too spicy for even (even though I ordered mild) and I really liked the chicken over rice. It was flavorful, I only wish that there was a little more chicken in the dish since the rice really dominated the meal. I think Rice'N Bread was a great choice and we enjoyed our first experience. Since we're new to the menu we didn't really know what to order. I hope to visit in person to get the full experience and suggestions from the servers (my favorite way to order). Came here for breakfast with a few friends on a Friday morning. It's a little family-owned (?) diner that I can tell is run with love and passion! I got the akutagawa after hearing that this was one of the only places to serve this dish. It comes on a HUGE dish with sprouts, eggs, peppers, onions, and protein (and option to add gravy - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). The portion is GIGANTIC but the dish was so delicious that I finished it all (even though it was quite a lot for breakfast LOL). For only $7 it was way worth it. The eggs and onions and gravy just gave the akutagawa so much flavor I couldn't stop eating it. The owner (?)/server was SO sweet and friendly - we loved talking to her during our meal. She was so happy to hear that we absolutely LOVED the food. We tried to go again another day but they were closed for the day Overall - you MUST come to Rice n' Bread for breakfast/brunch. Not only is the food incredible and comes with huge portions for the price, the owners are super sweet and friendly. Probably the best start to my day of my entire trip! Obsessed with the pajeon here. I ordered to go and immediately scarfed it down so I don't have a photo but it's so worth it. Basically, it's a Korean seafood pancake if you haven't had it before, and comes with a sweet soy sauce for dipping. I also got the Korean fried chicken which was delicious too. Rice 'N Bread is pretty terrible. The name is suitable, though, since the food is so bland that it might as well be (flavorless) rice and bread. There's nothing particularly interesting about the decor of the restaurant. Feels like a small little 'hole in the wall' kind of place, and the service is exactly what you would expect from that kind of place. We meandered into the restaurante at around 8:00 pm. We were not greeted by the staff and no one seemed care that someone had entered the establishment. After we were seated, the waitress did not ask for our drink order. She was not friendly. She did not explain the menu. Nothing. You can get better service from a fast food joint. We placed our order, and it is certainly a moment that I regret in hindsight. First, the dumplings. Bland. Tastes like they were in the freezer, then flash fried. They have that strange aftertaste that frozen food has. Weirdly pungent, but in the worst possible way. Texturally, the dumplings were also a disaster. The middle is like a golf ball. Have you ever had frozen meatballs? Texturally, that is exactly what these dumplings resembled and, unfortunately, they tasted just as bad. Next, the egg rolls. Again, there's a very unpleasant, pungent taste. I'm not sure what ingredient that is, but it's certainly not found in Korea. When you freeze an egg roll like that, it's going to be very dry. When you then overcook the egg roll, it's going to get even dryer. It was like eating sandpaper. Next, the Bibimbap. These are supposed to be bursting with flavor. Unfortunately, this might have been the worst bibimbap I've ever had. Bland. The egg was overcooked. The rice was overcooked (mushy) and under-seasoned. The beef was also under-seasoned. No pop of flavor. No excitement. It was like eating baby food. Finally, the Korean fried chicken. Disgraceful. Overcooked, dry, crunchy, and under-seasoned. It was quite literally like eating cardboard. Mcdonald's has better chicken than this place. I absolutely detest what they serve at this restaurant. read more

Excellent Korean spot with all the staples plus some inventive fusion dishes! We tried the yet ca mien noodles which was a savory broth with boiled egg, fresh green onion, your choice of protein (we did pork), and delicious flat rice noodles. Also got the spicy don galbi (pork ribs) served sizzling in a hot stone plate that cooks down the raw onion underneath into browned goodness within a few minutes! The only problem I had with this place is that I couldn't stop eating my dish until every bite was gone! The food was absolutely delicious, but what stood out even more was the incredibly exceptional service by Je-am. When we thanked her for being so wonderful (we assumed she was the owner), she shared that she just loved working here and customers and that she had been on the team for 13 years. She radiated pure joy. We will definitely be coming back for the food and the positive energy coming from this place. Don't be scared off by this local business with sticky notes pinned around on the back wall from years of great food and service. Local lowkey eatery that I like to frequent because of several reasons. For one, it's a BYOB establishment, so please feel free to bring your drinks of choice! Love Chicago for this concept! Secondly, the Thai lady that works here is extremely friendly! I'm hoping one day my photo will end up on that wall (I know she's super busy! LOL). Lastly, the food is bomb and affordable here!
