Rice's charges a 20% restocking fee if you are not satisfied with the appliances you purchase, even if the appliances don't work properly when their delivery staff installs them. The dryer I purchased was not heating AT ALL when it arrived. The staff member at the store said he could send a technician to fix it. Not what I want to hear when I am purchasing a BRAND NEW appliance! The washer is so loud I can hear it on the other side of the house! I asked if they would waive the 20% restocking fee if I purchase a different set. Nope! I sent these two appliances back to Rice's and had to actually go to the store again to get my refund. Very poor policy and very poor customer service. I always try to support local small business owners in our area. This was a terrible experience. read more

After long wait at Sears where the salesmen were too busy engrossed with other customers to even say Hi I can help you in 10-15 minutes...My patience ran out after 20 minutes and we headed over to Rice's where we where greeted by Patrick he was very nice price matched our range AND set up a 6 month no intrest plan and we were out of there in 30 minutes.We decided to further upgrade our kitchen and will be back to purchase the new fridge this week!Very nice customer service. read more

Terrible experience. The sales went fine. But the follow-up service is horrible. A nightmare actually. Since the microwave went "down" it has been a losing battle. Four service calls and a month and a half later, we are still without. It has been left to our initiative to resolve the matter with GE (which came out one time without the proper part, and came out a second time, and found the part was damaged in transit). No offer of help from Rice's and, worse, my wife has had to stay home instead of going to work in order to be there for the four-hour window - four times! Don't buy from Rice's! There will be virtually no follow-up and you will feel like you are alone (something we thought could never happen since we decided to purchase locally) read more

Walked in and told the sales person we needed a new washer. We found one we liked. She said online it didn't say when it would he available because it was out of stock. I said Ill take the one on the floor. She said she had to check with the manager. The manager said they couldn't sell the floor model. They were having the Chamber of Commerce come in and they didn't want to have any holes on the floor. I'm really sure the people from the Chamber of Commerce were going to buy appliances. I was also very interested in a $1600 grill. Being in sales I know you never let a customer leave the store if they tell you they're going to buy an appliance. I went to their competitors store and bought a new washer and now I'm purchasing a new grill. Great job and losing out on $2,500. read more

I purchased an $850.00 Samsung dishwasher from Rice's Appliance store. Within the first weeks of having this dishwasher, it was not getting dishes clean. Rice's sent an "outside" company repair man, who's attitude was not pleasant. He said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher, that we just needed to run hot water at the kitchen sink before starting the machine. The dishwasher continued to underperform, we asked Rice to allow us to exchange it for a different brand, they said we would have to pay an $80.00 re-stocking fee in order to do this. I felt this was poor customer service, and unreasonable. Soon thereafter the dishwasher began to deposit small black pieces of rubber on our "supposedly clean" dishes. Again Rice sent an outside company repairman, the same unpleasant one again actually, he stated the black rubber pieces "were just part of the insulation that wasn't properly placed in the machine". Again, Rice would not make good on this defective machine, without my paying additional money. We now wash our dishes by hand before placing them in our $850.00 Dish"rinser" I will never shop at Rice again, and recommend the same to anyone. Horrible customer service would be better than what they offer - NO customer service. read more

Why would anyone go anywhere else? They offer impeccable service, stand by their products and are competitive, if not better, in pricing than the bigger guys. We purchased a Kitchenaid Refrigerator from Rices Appliances in Bradenton, Florida. We have always purchased Subzero but were told that the $2500.00 Kitchenaid Refrigerator would be as good as the Subzero. We have never had any problems with the Subzero we have in South Carolina at our summer home. Within the first 60 days the ice maker broke down. We had it repaired but still had problems with the ice maker freezing over. Every 2 weeks my husband has had to dump the ice and use a hair dryer to unfreeze the ice collecting on the coils. Now the refrigerator is 22 months old and the ice maker has stopped dispensing ice. I called Rices and they said because we didn't purchase the extended warranty that we would have to pay for it to be serviced this time. I can't believe that we are having all these problems with a brand new refrigerator. We will never buy another Kitchenaid Appliance. We will stick with Subzero from now on out. The warranty on the Subzero is 5 years versus the one year warranty on the Kitchenaid Refrigerator. read more

We purchased these appliances new back in June of 2012. I originally went to them because I am a local small business owner myself therefore I tend to lean towards other small businesses when possible. Their pricing is good, but when it comes to appliances everyone will match everyone. It's kind of like buying a car , you may save $100 or so but there is a reason for that. Their 5 year extended warranty price is second to none, but the service and execution of that warranty is absolutely the worst in the industry. We originally called 5/2015 because of an issue we were having with our ice maker. The appointment was set up for a few days later with a 3 hour window. We were told the service tech would call us when he was leaving his previous appointment to give us a little time which we needed as we were in a meeting down the street and my wife was prepared to leave when necessary. The tech did not call us prior but called to tell us he was there and we were not so he was leaving. We had to call and reschedule for a few days later. The tech then came out and the ice maker decided to work for him as he tried it once and said it was fine. The next day it stopped dispensing ice out of the door again. He came back a few days later to find that it wasn't working then he literally opened the freezer door and said ok we will order a whole new door. It seemed very odd to me that you would come to that conclusion literally by opening a door and not even looking at the ice maker. He told us they would call when it arrived. 4 weeks past without hearing anything so we decided to call to check the status when they told us it can take up to 18 weeks to arrive! I spoke to Rice's directly and they said they would try to speed up the process and let me know when we can expect it, but they never called me back. It has been 18 weeks and the repair company has been extremely rude and now will not return our calls. So I may be forced to take legal action to have my fridge fixed. It's not just about your prices, but your staff and the subs you choose can make or break your business. read more

If I could give a lower (or NO) star, I would. Rice's scheduled multiple deliveries on our calendar having cancelled on us four times (we purchased three appliances on 11/19/16; final appliance was delivered 12/27/16--over a month!). One of those times the truck came all the way out to Parrish, but the installer rang my doorbell only to tell me they "forgot" to put the dishwasher on the truck! FINALLY, we got the last appliance delivered--a dishwasher, on 12/27/16. BUT, it is currently sitting in our garage. Why? Because the very young, obviously inexperienced, professional "installers" didn't know how to unscrew and lower the legs of the old dishwasher to move it out of the kitchen. After a phone call to Rice's, our "professional salesperson" TOLD US WHAT the kids SHOULD have done; Rick did not offer a solution to us (for example, to send an "experienced" installer to get the job done), but instead, was quick to get the credit card number again to refund the $139.99 installation fee. We had to call a RELIABLE PLUMBER to come and get the job done for us and remove the old dishwasher. Yes, Rice's has trained professional "sales" people, but the company receives a grade of "F" on promised delivery, installation, and FOLLOW-UP with their customers. I suggest they train their installers with youtube.com videos if they are too busy to train them in-house; and train their salespeople with "follow-up/how to" problem-solving skills. I will NEVER go back to Rice's Appliances for our future appliance needs. read more
