First time visiting this noodle shop, the restaurant is clean and comfortable. Service was prompt. Foods are great, full of flavour, presentation is nice, full of toppings for the noodles. There's a balance of flavour and ingredients. Taste is just right with good portion. I consider this better than many other chain noodle shops. I will visit again.

If you're looking for comfort food that warms your soul in the middle of a blizzard, you've found it here! The decor is quaint, neutral and cozy (especially if you're seated in one of those booths with a "cover." I preferred looking at the online menu with more images than their paper version. We've been twice now and tried wagyu beef crossing-the-bridge rice noodle (過橋米線 which is just a literal translation), original low sodium crossing-the-bridge rice noodle, shredded chicken rice noodle soup, and braised pork rice noodle soup topped with black garlic. The wagyu was a hit. The broth was flavourful and if you put your own toppings in (first time they did it for us), you have control over the cooking time for more tender beef. The shredded chicken and braised pork broths are a bit more bland and so I added the chilli oil in. There's an herb or spice that is used giving the broth an interesting flavour. There's garlic chicken wings were pretty good as well.

Was in the area and came here to try their noodles for a dinner! They do a crossing the bridge style yunnan noodles which is kind of like your own hotpot! I went with the original ($19.99) which came with the toppings below, your choice of egg or rice noodles and a tasty broth! Overall, I found the food to be pretty good. The broth was very rich and delicious, the noodles were easy to eat, and there was a lot of different toppings that came with it! Everything was pretty tasty. However, this place is a bit pricier for what you get. There are some other crossing the bridge style noodles which come a bit cheaper and also offer refills on their noodles. I would probably visit one of those locations instead.

This was my fist time trying Yunan crossing bridge noodle, and I was by myself for the experience. And it absolutely was an experience. I randomly stopped at this plaza and chose the restaurant on a bit of a whim. I was hungry, it was raining, and as someone who doesn't eat gluten, I was intrigued by a noodle spot specialized in rice noodles. I walked in at lunch time on a Tuesday and had no trouble finding a spot. There were quite a few there for lunch already. I checked their website and learned that Crossing the Bridge is the important dish, so I tried that out. The servers were not very talkative, but they were pleasant and extremely fast. When the spread of beautiful little dishes and boiling broth arrived I had a moment of uncertainty given the ingredients were raw (including meat and quail egg). Thankfully, there is a guide with photos on their website on how to cook and eat the dish. This may seem obvious to some, but being alone and confronted with a task other than just eating can often be an intimidating experience. I really appreciated the step by step instructions. I found the broth and vegetables to be extremely flavourful and pleasant. I devoured the entire thing, which was a lot of food. Not having anything to compare it too, I thought it was excellent. The only thing I didn't love was the slightly eggy aftertaste that lingered. Overall a memorable and pleasant experience. I would absolutely return, and look forward to trying out another restaurant serving the same cuisine.

Was too hungry during lunch time that I forgot to do the signature noodle shot I was told that crossing-the-bridge-noodles was one of the intangible cultural heritage in Yunan, it was quite an experience to put each mini plates of topping into the hot broth. I especially like the interior of @riceysilo 's Markham location, minimal and bright For more, check Instagram @japjap.toronto

Not my first time here and I do enjoy their food but their service really needs improvement. Please do not take away my dishes or bowls super early. Unless there is a desperate need for those dishes in the back it is really uncalled for. We always feel so rushed when eating here and to be honest the restaurant is never full. This most recent time we were the only table for our entire meal except near the end when one more table came in. My friend and I got the original crossing the bridge noodles and were in the midst of putting the toppings in when the staff keep coming in to take away the topping dishes. Also, the chicken cartilage is no longer on the menu (replaced by pork ribs). Please bring it back!!

Nice decor. Heavily air conned which is nice for a hot summer day. Good service but hard to order when not given a menu sheet per person. We had 7 ppl and had to pass the order sheet around. Service was attentive and excellent. The pork belly appetizer was excellent. Very flavorful and beautifully presented with a thin slide of cucumber between each piece. The cold sesame noodle was excellent as well. Nice blend of flavor and spice. The pork intestine, duck blood noodle was also very flavorful. Would recommend The wagyu noodle set was mediocre. For 26$, I expected a little more than tiny slices of beef. The noodle had nice bounce and texture. The soup base needed a lot more sour cabbage to compare closer to traditional Yunnan noodles. Being from nyc, i can't believe I have to say that the nyc Chinatown version is better than the one in Richmond Hill.

During a family meetup uptown, they wanted to try a newish Rice Noodle spot instead of the usual Dim Sum. My family love crossing bridge noodles, so this caught their interest. As we entered in the morning, it was easy to grab a spot, and shortly filled up early afternoon. I love the welcoming decor. I recommend this for a family meal or a date. The book gives you instructions on how to enjoy crossing bridge noodles... I've been doing it wrong! First, dump in the quail egg yolk. To intensify the flavour, use the egg white to swirl your raw meat and tenderize it before dipping it in the soup. Then drop the other ingredients in. What we ordered (* for what we recommend.) Tomato beef stew rice noodle Original low-sodium crossing-the-bridge noodle *Mixed seafood Crossing-the-bridge noodle with edible flowers *Shredded chicken noodle soup I enjoyed the seafood noodle soup. The soup broth was flavourful, delicate and slightly sweet, not too salty. We all finished and drank up our soup at the end. The staff told me that Europe was still on holiday (New Year's) and that they gave me an extra slice of fish instead of the edible flowers, it should've came with. I'm surprised they have sourced their ingredients so far! No wonder the premium price point. My partner also enjoyed his chicken noodle soup. I didn't get to try their tomato or original noodle soup, though my inlaws said it was just okay. The price point is a bit higher, and there is no unlimited rice noodle like in some other comparable spots. However, we were all full and satisfied. Overall enjoyed my meal and the broth I had is really good, especially if you enjoy delicate broths. I would skip the desserts and try a side instead. The dessert has lychee or watermelon with some layered toppings on ice. The rice balls in it are good, but the rest seem like something you can get from a can. Washrooms could be serviced better as there wasn't a working hand soap spout (like the spout was sitting on the side) and you have to scrape off soap from the hole. It had a lasting impression before I left.

I visited this Yunnan noodle house with a friend, and we both had a great time. The service was quick and the portion sizes were more than satisfying, making it a great spot for a filling meal. The noodle soup was flavorful and had a rich broth. They serve ingredients in small dishes and you add them to your soup. It's a hands-on experience like the traditional way in Yunnan. We were having late lunch on a weekend and the restaurant was not very crowded. The seats were separated too so we can chat comfortably as well.

My mom and I love this place. The service is fast, ambience is slightly more upscale than a hole-in-the-wall, and quality is reliable. You can get a membership which acts as a gift card and it comes with a discount on each bill. We've rotated through most of the menu items now. Still love the cross bridge series the most (worth it to splurge and get the waygu beef) but I do like there's also basic noodle dishes at a more affordable price. Overall a good spot for a hearty meal with ample seating and quick service!

Was actually headed next door to Kinton but came here on a whim. This place is reminiscent of Dagu Rice Noodle that used to occupy the same location. They've spruced up the decor a bit, changed up all the branded cutlery and have launched pretty much an updated version of the same restaurant. Pretty much, if you liked Dagu, you'll like Ricey Silo. Ricey Silo has a few more higher end sides, doesn't have the unlimited noodles that Dagu had, but in the end it makes a good meal.

    Angela L.

I love cross the bridge noodles so knew i had to give this new place a try when I saw it. However it was pretty disappointing as the soup is very much just bland. Most rice noodle places offer unlimited rice noodle, but this place doesn't. Which is honestly fine for me as I never get extra anyways. But other than that service is quick and friendly but I would much rather have other rice noodle place instead.

Traditional Yunnan Original Rice Noodle ($18.99)
    The Yum Report ..

Whether you call it crossing the bridge noodle or Yunnan rice noodle, this classic Yunnan dish will certainly warm up the belly. Newly opened in the Commerce Gate plaza, Ricey Silo offers 8 variety of noodles - either in traditional style which serves the ingredients on the side or classic style with everything mixed in. The traditional Yunnan original rice noodle was served in 3 parts - the broth in a hot bowl, noodles on the side and a board with 9 side ingredients. The sides included chicken, ham, pork, fish, quail egg and many items all thrown in the boiling broth to cook. Although the dish was heartwarming, the broth tasted fairly bland. The side ingredients were so so, nothing really stood out. The classic pork stew rice noodle which was served with the ingredients mixed in was much more flavourful. The okra salad was quite spicy and the rose ice porridge dessert was unique - included watermelon, rice, tapioca and shaved ice. The use of traditional elements, paper-cut window designs, red Spring Festival couplets, old-style newspaper wall coverings, and exposed brick adds a strong sense of nostalgia. It feels immersive and intentional, almost like stepping into a countryside home in Dongbei rather than a typical restaurant. The décor isn't fancy, but it's rich in cultural detail and warmth, perfectly matching the hearty, comforting style of Northeast Chinese cuisine. The space is unique and perfect for taking photos. The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. Prices are reasonable for the generous portion sizes and the unique restaurant décor.

I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
