I called the dealership at 9 AM in the morning and specifically arranged to test drive a used classic car. I told them I was driving 100 miles in one direction to get to them. I had 10 text messages with the salesman during my travels to the dealership. Upon arrival I found out that the car would not start and could not be worked on and so I could not test drive the car even though I have been told I would be able to test drive the car. I drove 200 miles total and wasted five hours of my day to not be able to test drive a car even though the dealership knew six hours in advance that I was coming and exactly which car I wanted to test drive. It was incredibly disappointing and no one seem to care. Very surprising way to treat a customer they where trying to get to spend $50,000 on a 40 year old car. read more

I'm disappointed with this dealership. This was only my third time that I brought my car in. The first was for plugs, brakes etc. in which I was charged almost 40% of the service price for labor. Way too high! The second was for an alignment. I brought it back for the third time because I said my car was still pulling. Instead of taking it out on the road to see or feel it, they started saying oh it's the roads. I'm like I've been driving my car on the same roads for over 5 yrs, WHAT did the roads change! They said they don't take it out to see what the customer is feeling that's not how we do alignments. They put it back on the alignment machine and said it was slightly off. I get back on the road again still pulling. I called back and was told oh it's probably a wear in the tire or suspension breakdown, which was bull because they checked it on the first visit a few months prior and everything looked good. They told me to bring it back to check when if they checked it when I was already there they would have known it wasn't the alignment. Now I have to go back and burn gas and time to check it again. HOW RIDICULOUS! but still i dropped my car off at the dealer on JUNE 16th,2017 , and steve called on a SATURDAY 17th and said that " there's a puncture on my right front tire and they have to pluck it and it will be ready by monday." the monday came, steve called me and said that "i can't pick my car up because HE LOST MY KEYS, and that he wouldn't be able to give me a LOANER CAR UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING AT 7:30am and he can't do anything else, which i told him that i wouldn't have any car to drive because i have to work at 7:30am" and same thing happened! I didn't reveived any APOLOGY and he specifically said " HE DOESN'T OWE ME ANY APOLOGY!" I DIDN'T GET MY CAR UNTIL JUNE 20, 2017! THEY GAVE ME A REPORT AT THE END OF THE SERVICE STATING WHAT HAS DONE IN MY CAR AND IT SPECIFICALLY SAYS THAT MY BREAKS WAS ON GREEN! which means, there's now problem after 10 DAYS , i heard that something is wrong with my breaks and made a schedule for another service which is JULY 8,2017 , my breaks were worn off!! They asked me to pay $600+ to replace my rotor plus my break pads! I tried to speak with the co-owner of the company which is NEIL , and apparently the all have the same TRAINING ON CUSTOMER SERVICE!! . AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I've given them so many chances to redeem themselves but they haven't so I feel forced to post this review in an effort to educate prospective customers and get them to clean up their act. Bought: 6 September 2015 Salesman: Ryan Wiegand At the time of purchase, I noticed a few problems. The steering wheel would shudder at speeds of greater than 65 mph and the TPMS light was on. The dealership exhibited a pattern of dishonesty during this whole process. They told me there was a "reconditioning fee" of ~$1200. They said that this was because they had put on brand new tires, done an oil change and topped off all of the fluids, detailed the car, and done a 161 point inspection on it. I would find out later on that they had not put on new tires or done an oil change. I had reservations about buying the car because of the issues with it, and the only reason I bought the car was because Ryan made all of these promises to fix the car, and he literally said, "We won't hang you out to dry." They signed a 'we owe' for the steering wheel shudder and the TPMS thing, saying they would fix it. An hour after I bought the car, it started overheating on the highway, to the point where it wouldn't even drive. I managed to limp the car over to my friend's house after taking several breaks along the way and in the morning I called the dealership. They agreed to tow it back to the dealership and take care of it. I asked for my money back several times at the dealership, to which Ryan just said, "I can't do that." I was sick and tired of arguing with them, so I finally agreed to keep the car if they fixed it. While the vehicle was being repaired, I asked them to fix the steering wheel shudder like they said they would. At this point, I started dealing with Neal, the General Manager. He claimed that the shudder was due to the tires being off-road tires. However, these are actually 'Highway All-Season' tires. I kind of just let the point slide because I was sick of dealing with them at this point and it wasn't that big of a deal to me. I told Neal that my concern was that this could be indicative of a larger issue and asked him for something in writing stating that if this led to a larger issue, I would be covered. After all, I would not have bought the car if not for the promise that they would fix the things they said they would. I hinted at legal action if they couldn't fix it or give me my money back. He said that he would get Ryan to write something up and send it to me. When I picked up the car, I decided to check the oil, and I found that it was dirty. It had most definitely not just been changed like they claimed. Then I decided to recheck the carfax on the car. There was a record of the tires being changed, but it was not by Rich Morton Mazda and more than a few thousand miles before it was sold at auction (They told me it was a local trade-in) I didn't hear from Ryan or Neal for a couple of weeks. Then I received an e-mail from Rich Morton Mazda asking me to rate my experience, and if it was less than a 5 star review, to contact them about it before leaving a bad review. So I e-mailed Ryan back about my concerns. He said "I will talk to Neal when he is available. Thanks for your patience." This was on the 28th of September. He never e-mailed me back. I e-mailed him again on October 7th, asking cordially for a status update. He never e-mailed me back. At this point, I gave up. I'm a college student. I don't have time for this. On October 24th, my car went into limp mode. The Service Engine Soon light went on and the 4WD indicator light went on. It wouldn't drive past 40-50 mph and the engine smelled burnt, even though the engine temperature gauge didn't show that the engine was overheating. I hoped against all odds that it might resolve itself. It didn't, however, so I called the dealer and brought it in. I have driven this car less than 800 miles in the two months that I've had it because I can only drive on weekends. They quoted me $6500 to fix the transmission, and then claimed that they would do it for $3500 to "help me out". It costs 3500 at other places. Jim Asimakes, the General Sales Manager, essentially told me that I was out of luck because I didn't buy an extended warranty. I didn't even list all of the problems because I'm out of space, but I am currently pursuing legal action. read more

That's ridiculous then we decided to test drive you know get the family experience to see if we all loved it . The sales rep finally comes out by this time we're already about to pull off the lot so we decided to park and rep said he had to ride along with us because of the caliber of the vehicle and that was house policy. I really can't recommend this place. The only reason I bought a car here is because they had the exact car I wanted on the lot and gave me a good price. The problem is, they tried to use all the known dealer tricks to get more money. They wanted to use the difference figure to negotiate a price, to make it harder to understand the actual price I was paying. I refused to negotiate that way and the salesperson had to repeatedly go to the manager, finally just having the manager negotiate with me directly. The service is also incredibly slow. As part of the deal buying my car they were to give me a second key and fob. After waiting months to get the fob in, it has taken them an hour and a half to cut and program it. I was told repeatedly it would only take 20-25 minutes. I give Rich Mortons 2 stars because the staff was friendly throughout and did have a good deal on the car I wanted. read more

I have been car shopping lately (mainly via internet and requesting quotes) and since it's 10PM I thought I'd give the 'chat to a sales rep' button a try. The prices they were offering were still $1.5k higher than the quotes I have been offered. "Bret" was there to respond, however, he kept on insisting that I provide my full name over 3 times, even after I have noted that no other dealerships have insisted on getting my full name (perhaps he wanted to also do a background research on me)- and when I said other dealerships have never asked me for my full name on chat, he decided to ask the same thing but with "May I ask for your full name?" --like he didn't get the point. I did a quick online check of their sales department, and there was not a "bret" on the roster. Finally saying no one more time, he then asked what car I was looking at. After telling him the model I was interested in, and responding to his question on when I wanted it by (in the next few weeks) and that I have already talked to dealerships in the vicinity, he promptly ended the session. Why advertise the wrong price. Brought my daughter's BMW in for an oil change under the rich morton advantage plan, which we paid an 800 dollar premium. Free oil changed car wash lifetime power train warranty. Found a small oil leak. Told my daughter she had 30 days to let them fix it. This is nowhere in writing in the receipt for the advantage plan. Richard W. at Rich Morton Mazda was superb. Walked in to check out a Mazda 6, but couldn't decide between a lightly used one or a new one. Richard was patient and let me test drive both and explained all the options I had. I ended up leasing the vehicle and Richard was willing to work with me on the price to something I was comfortable with. After the process started and finance was working on my documents, Richard sat with me and we engaged in small talk unless the finance gal called me back. I've had sales reps at other dealerships simply stand off elsewhere and leave me sitting at their desk waiting for sometimes hours. The finance side of things went smoothly. I didn't catch her name, but she was friendly and explained things well. Overall, this was a great experience and I will definitely be returning to this location. read more

While the fine print says to bring the confirmation code to determine if you have won, no place does it indicate elsewhere that there are matching symbol tickets that are not winners. I was told that instead I would get a scratch-off for the $25,000 prize, which I declined to take, because that is not in the fine print. It also says to see dealer for complete contest rules. I asked for a copy of those and was told that the fine print is the complete contest rules. No place in that fine print does it talk about a consolation prize of a scratch off for non-winners of the $5,000 prize. As far as I am concerned they owe me the $5,000. At the very least, this is fraudulent misleading advertising on their part and shows them to be dishonest. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't bother buying one of their classic or used or even new!! My father purchased a 1969 GTO from the dealership last month. Many pictures were sent along with many conversations on how perfect was this vehicle. When the vehicle was delivered it wouldn't start and had to be towed to the local mechanic. Timing, transmission issues, and other problems. Morton Mazda said get it fixed. The mechanic said the car was faulty leaving the dealership, but yet an additional car inspection was done no paperwork regarding that. Also if that was done most likely the inspection wasn't done or it was fraud. Once the vehicle was delivered there was some minor paint defects along with interior defects. That wasn't disclosed. My opinion go elsewhere. LIES and more Lies. I wish they were local to my area i would have this conversation in person. read more

I bought a Dodge journey from this place. Buying the vehicle was normal...same as any other dealership. However, the vehicle I bought needed a few things done. David Fields (not sure if that spelling is correct) went above and beyond to make sure everything was right with my vehicle. It was a lot to do over a few weeks but David stayed in contact and made sure I wasn't inconvenienced in any way. I can't recommend David enough. If I could give negative stars I would ... We found a car we wanted to buy at this dealership. We live in Los Angeles and were going to have the car shipped. Our salesman Bill asked for a $3,000 deposit to hold the car for 5 days, which we paid, and then sent a check to pay for the car which arrived on the 5th day. We didn't hear anything back from Bill regarding receipt of the check so WE phoned HIM to ask about it - only to find out they had sold the car to someone else. How long were we going to be waiting with nobody phoning us? How can they take a deposit to hold a car and not hold the car? Horrible way to do business. RUN away!!! read more

buyer beware...we were working with this dealership for two weeks trying to close a car deal, first they advertised the price lower online and then when we arrived at the dealership the price was $1,000 higher. We were upset that they were willing to sell the car at one price and it increased. We left the dealer, where i emailed the dealership expressing my dissatisfaction The GM called us back and was apologetic and wanted to work with us. Over the next few days we had several conversations about price, vehicle operations etc... to ensure everything balanced out. We said we wanted the vehicle and were willing to put the deposit down, we even secured the financing. They wouldn't let us and its difficult to get there being out of state, but Don also assured us he would hold the vehicle for us. I should have known better. This was THE vehicle for my husband but we just had to get everything together before we made the trip to the dealer, we made that abundantly clear to Don. Several times, we would call Don and he would promise to call back and we had to follow up or call him. Don on a few occasions assured us he wanted to ensure our satisfaction given the miscommunication with his sales reps and us and that they wanted us to have the vehicle "his words." We called to let the dealer know we are coming tomorrow only to find out the car sold! There was not even the courtesy of a phone call to let us know after ALL the time we spent. Definitely not a satisfactory experience. We are 32 weeks pregnant, needed this vehicle as our second vehicle (because we only have one vehicle at the moment that can fit a car seat) and thought we could trust the word of the General Manager. I guess I was naive to think that this dealer was actually working in our favor, i should have been more cautious. In addition, my dad has purchased three other cars from here which seemed to make a difference from the first call i made with the GM and gradually declined. The GM said we are out of state, so we arent even going to get you here for service, you are paying cash, so there isn't really any benefit to us in selling you the vehicle, the price we are giving you for this vehicle isn't making me happy. In my opinion, you never know where a sale is going to end up, we may need another vehicle in the future and to limit yourself from a sales perspective isn't great business practice, a one time sale could end up being a great thing or i could refer people being that i was raised in Millersville. It's funny that this place has such bad reviews on Yelp, but such good reviews everywhere else. I came in with a TrueCar quote through Tower Federal Credit Union which made everything much simpler. My last car-buying experience lasted about nine hours, most of which was spent haggling over price. At Rich Morton Mazda, my fiance and I walked into the dealership at about 9:15-9:30, test drove the car, filled out all of the paperwork, got in contact with the insurance agency, and then were able to leave for lunch around 11:15 while the car was being detailed (included in the price). At noon, we picked up the car and left. There was no arguing over price--once we were back from the test drive, we were provided a cost breakdown, which included the TrueCar price and the TFCU member discount. The dealer fees here are high, I won't sugar coat it. But with all of the taxes and fees the car still came in under my budget. It definitely helps to have a certain car in mind when you come here, and to call ahead to the dealership. I called and spoke with Bill Readling and told him when we'd be coming in, so when we arrived the next morning, he was there waiting for us. I will also admit that a large part of what probably made this process so easy was that I didn't finance the car. I couldn't tell you how the dealership handles that process. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could, I don't understand how they are still in business. Every experience I've had has been horrible from being lied to when I 1st purchased the car: sale price was higher than internet price bc disgruntled employee hacked their system. To checkups which showed all Systems green for months then suddenly red, no yellow or orange warnings. When I asked how that could be I was told the employee that I had previously interacted with had been fired so those green items should have been red prob for some time. Now I'm being told they don't give out loaners as part of service agreements. I remember this being part of my contract and when I asked them to look it up, it was... another lie! Shan Marfani was awesome! He was attentive to me and my fiancé, helped me solidify my decision to getting a Mazda CX-5, and made the process quick! I really appreciate Shan and Neal for taking such good care of me and helping me get into the car of my dreams. This is the second vehicle I've purchased through Rich Morton and I will keep coming back. I also use the service department for my free oil changes and service check ups. Sometimes you have to wait a bit but their sky lounge waiting area is very comfortable and they always check in with you and update you about the status of your car. Bought a 2017 Ford Raptor from this dealership, truck was thousands over internet price. Bought the truck on a Tuesday afternoon, they told me the truck was not able to take home that night after the truck was already purchased. The next day the truck was available for pick up, picked up the truck to the back driver side wheel wobbling and the navigation screen completely not working. Ended up not receiving the truck until 11 days after purchased ( wheel wobbling was never fixed), the dealership wouldn't even give me a full tank of gas for the troubles. Seems to me like they buy at auction and do not check over the vehicles. I spent over 60k for this kind of trouble, I'd buy at your own risk and wouldn't advise purchasing anything from this dealership. read more

I've thought long and hard about this review. I didn't want to just jump on here and yelp and everywhere else bashing these people without giving them a chance to make things right. They failed at any attempt to make things right. What I wanted was not something that was out outrageous. I was promised a few things when I bought my car from them, and after I left I was basically ignored and lied to. There are 2 people involved in from this dealership that are complete scum(the General Manager (Neal) and my salesman (Todd McIntyre). Given that I work for a dealership in Virginia, I know how things should work and I know what true customer service means and how people should be treated. These people are what give all car sales people a bad name. Here's my story and every word of it is true: I bought a used car from these people back in July of 2014. This was my dream car. I'd searched everywhere for this car and they happened to have one that I could afford. When I drove all the way up there to have a look at it, I was told that EVERYTHING worked EXCEPT one of the gauges. Not a big deal to me. I can handle one gauge not working. Upon taking delivery of the car, on my way home I noticed that the fuel gauge wasn't moving, the radio didn't work, the temperature gauge wasn't working, the speedometer gauge wasn't working, the car shook like crazy at highway speeds and it was leaking water through the T-tops. And when I got home and tried to put on the car cover he included for me, it didn't even fit my car. Needless to say, I wasn't pleased. But I wanted to give the dealership an opportunity to make things right. I called Neal the next day and let him know what was going on. At first, he seemed concerned and was willing to fix the things that were broken. After getting multiple estimates for the fixes, I called Neal back. He didn't answer. So I left him a voicemail. Over 12 Voicemails I left him before I got fed up and called a different manager. I was able to get Neal's cell phone number from another manager. I called and texted Neal and got a response of "I'm not at work for the next couple days, please give me a call on Monday to have this sorted out." I didn't care for that response so I called the dealership back that same day and guess who was standing next to the manager when I called...NEAL! He was there at work and refused to talk to me about any of this. He was dodging my calls for weeks. After all was said and done with them, I all but gave up on getting anything fixed. The only thing I wanted at this point was the paperwork that went along with my car(restoration paperwork receipts for my insurance company). My insurance company wouldn't insure me for the full amount without these receipts. This is ALL that I needed at this point. Just give me my paperwork and I'll go away and I won't blast you on Facebook, dealerrater.com, yelp, etc. THEY WOULDNT EVEN DO THAT!!! THEY WOULDN'T ANSWER ANY OF MY CALLS OR ANYTHING!!! Yes...a lot of these issues with my car are because my car is a 1979 Trans Am. Yes, there are bound to be issues with an older car. But when the car is listed as fully restored with documentation to prove it, I'd expect the car to be pretty close to perfect...especially if the price is in the mid 20K range. I was lied to over and over again by these people. They made ZERO effort to help me. I'm a disabled Veteran of the Iraq war. This is how these people treat veterans!!!! I will never do business with them again and I hope you don't either. If you're really looking for a new Mazda, there are plenty of other places to buy one for the same price that they offer. If they have a used car that you're wanting, try ANY other website before settling with these people because you never know what they're hiding from you. You may also see me standing out front of their dealership with a sign in my hand in the future. I will NOT allow ANY active duty or prior military member to buy a car from them if I can help it. I've printed out multiple flyers and posted them on nearly every military base in Northern VA and MD. I'm not crazy. I'm not unrealistic. I'm just irritated and I refuse to let them get away with robbing people if I can help it at all. Ordinarily there are steps to resolve issues with a dealership in Maryland. Such as the Maryland dealer board. THESE PEOPLE ARENT EVEN MEMBERS OF THE DEALER BOARD! Check out their reviews on Dealerrater.com as well...they're scum bags. Getting ready to purchase another vehicle - not from Rich Morton's based on our experience with them. This will be the second car we have bought since Feb. 2014. Had they not been so unscrupulous, we certainly would have given them our loyalty and return business. The responsibility for our contempt lies squarely on the shoulders of their General Manager - Neal (see the review below by Noah). We purchased a used BMW M3 from Rich Morton Mazda in mid-February of 2014. After several attempts to address a recurring "check engine light" we were very concerned that there may be a significant engine problem which had not been correctly diagnosed. We were assured by the service manager as we approached the end of the 30-day warranty period that this was a "known" problem to them and we could rest assured that they would stand behind this car. After another attempt to correct the problem shortly after the 30 day warranty expired, we took the car to BMW of Annapolis. What was diagnosed very quickly was a $4,500 Vanos repair. Rich Mortons refused to repair the car. We were told by the General Manager that we were a bunch of "whiners" and that they were not going to fix the car because the warranty was no longer in place. They played price games when I got interested in buying a car and gladly I have finally given up on buying a car from them. Because of their false statements I went and got a loan from my credit union. The management was not ready to keep their word the next day regarding the price of the car. They will just waste your time, it's better you look else where for a car. read more

I was brought in with some decent sounding deals but mostly because of a "peel and win" flyer they sent out. The flyer had a clear explanation of a 5000 dollar prize for the card but within a minute of arriving a salesman clarified that there was no cash prize for the card and he instead tried to lure me in for a timeshare pitch. When asked why they had sent out a misleading flyer the salesman became defensive and angry. I assume he had that same conversation many times already since those flyers went out. Two stars for cautiously good sounding deals but big marks against for shady advertising practices and hostility when called out on it. Will not be visiting again. read more

I received a cash game card in the mail from this dealer. Of course it said that I won cash but I had to go to the dealership to claim it. I looked this game up online and it is a known scam. If a dealership resorts to this kind of cheating to get you in the door imagine what they will do when it comes to selling the car. read more

I got the flyer in the mail as well. I went to collect my prize. Of course I did not win, even though according to the flyer I should have. I have already made a complaint with the attorney general's office for their unfair and deceptive trade practices. Do not support such a place that is so dishonest in their advertising. read more
