The person who took my order over the phone was great and helpful. I explained I would be there at 345 to pick up my order. No problem he said. I got there and waited. It would not be a concern at all if I didn't observe 2 people over by the meat cases standing there looking at me. No comment or welcome. No hello. Just kept ignoring me while they occasionally glanced over pretending not to see me. There were 3 other people on the meat area where they cut it up. 2 lounging against the door frames and one who appeared to be cleaning everything while the other 2 looked on. Teamwork at its finest. They also saw me and ignored me as well. After a while I asked if there was anyone not busy standing around who could just hand me my order. The guy who was pretending not to see me came over. No apology or thank you. Nothing. Not a word. The cashiers and front end staff are consistently great. Very welcoming and friendly. This was the first time I went in on a Saturday. Not typical of the service I get. I paid 346.00 for my order. Will never go back on a Saturday again. I think your cashiers should probably teach Customer Service skills to your back room. I left there totally irritated.

However, despite all those necessary adjustments, CPC dished up some terrific barbecue for us. We ordered a brisket plate ($15) and pulled pork plate ($13) to go. Each plate came with a slab of cornbread and your choice of 2 sides. We selected sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, Baked BBQ beans, and cheese grits. The meals were served with 2 containers of BBQ sauce -Sweet St. Louis and Tangy Memphis. We made up a few combination plates for dinner tonight, and both of us agreed that the food was very good. Let's start with the meat, because, after all, this is a BBQ place. I liked the brisket a lot, once you trimmed the slices, they were very lean, very meaty, very tasty and plain old excellent. The slices were on the thicker side, but I didn't mind that one bit. The pork was tender and juicy and full of flavor. I added some of that Sweet St. Louis sauce to my plate, and it was great, with tons of flavor and no heat. I sampled three of the sides and thought the Gold Medal Winner was the mac and cheese. It had a luxurious texture and was loaded with cheesy goodness. The grits were excellent too. My wife and I split opinions on the cornbread, I liked it more than she did, and I think that's because it wasn't as sweet or as moist as the cornbread we've had in the past at various BBQ joints.. We also picked up two pieces of smoked salmon we'll target for dinner this week. All of that ran us less than $40, so we think the value is pretty darned good. The location is gorgeous, you are right next to the North Pond Marina of Lake Congamond so you can watch the boats from their outdoor patio if you're in the mood to do some people and boat watching. I'm sure we will be back because the BBQ options around here are few and far between.

The collard greens did let me down as I am used to more hamhock or bacon flavor, however it was not a deal breaker for me. l am looking forward to my next visit here.
