I think about Richie's at least once a week since I graduated. The cafe is such a great spot to work from and just hang out. The service is fast even when they are slammed and they make it so easy to order, hang out, and grab your food/drinks down at the end. The students who work there run that place like the navy, they are playing no games. The food is so good and the prices have def gone up since post-pandemic, but it's still reasonable. Great spot to bring your parents when they visit campus, it's casual but gives a good impression of Temple and campus as a whole. And like, who doesn't love Richie? That's my king. read more

Richie's is conveniently located by the Temple Station on the corner. There's outdoor steel seating and some inside tables and counter seating. However, it is very busy inside and difficult to find seats to sit down and eat because of the sheer number of people here studying and eating/drinking. There's a few outlets on the wall. I got the chicken shawarma panini, an iced cookie butter latte, the Richie's favorite waffle, and an iced gingerbread latte. I think the variety of the menu was good, with the sandwiches, paninis, holiday special drinks, and breakfast foods. I think the cookie butter latte was bland, didn't really have a concrete flavor. The gingerbread latte was better because it had a nicer, spiced aftertaste. The waffle had a good mix of everything- banana, strawberry, chocolate, and whipped cream. Not too overly sweet. It had four big waffles packed into the cardboard to go container. The panini was quite crunchy with the toasted bread, but I think it was a lot of bread to filling ratio. I really love Richie's Cafe. It's cheap and consistently good. In my opinion, it's WAY better than the location on the wall. There never seems to be tables inside available which isn't a dig as much as everyone loves it there. They also have a water fill station incase you get thirsty. Richies Cafe has the best grilled cheeses and coffee on campus. The food is always so fresh and yummy. Its a great place to grab a bite and get some work done. The only thing that sometimes keeps me from going is one of the workers who usually is at register. He's sometimes just a bit rude to me, but everyone else there is a sweetheart. I usually just visit his lunch box which is ran by his mother in the corner of 12th & Norris. The veggie burger is every vegetarians dream come true. Ok I get it, just about everyone on campus loves Richie's. But to be HONEST, this isn't the best taste, quality, or value at temple and here's why. Breakfast is definitely the most ordered thing at Richie's. Since this is the big money maker, it should be done well. Ive ordered a pork roll egg and cheese hash brown in the middle on an everything bagel quite a few times before this review. This breakfast sandwich costs $6. $2 for the hash brown which is unbelievably expensive for what it is. The egg is very very thin compared to other food trucks around campus and it should be the star of the sandwich. Not to mentioned, it's not seasoned with salt or pepper! The pork roll, also super thin. You can see through it and he gives you no more than 2 slices. The bagel, not toasted which is disappointing. I'll admit, the sandwich is tasty, but it's so overpriced for what you get and you'll be waiting for at least 20 min on a weekday morning. You can get a huge breakfast sandwich with way more substance (nice fluffy egg with salt and pepper, thick pieces of pork roll, and a toasted roll at Chicken Heaven by alter hall. And it'll only cost you 4.50. Richie's is simply overrated. read more

Definitely my favorite dining spot on campus for two reasons: the incredible food and the man, the myth, the legend, Richie himself. My go to is his bacon egg and cheese. The egg is never over cooked (pet peeve of mine) and there's a perfect ratio of cheese to egg. Choosing between a croissant and an everything bagel is a struggle. Aside from that his breakfast burger is a must try and huge. I also love his chicken finger wrap and his mozzarella stick grilled cheese for very special occasions. He added iced coffee this year which is a huge plus since it's not overly sweet like Dunkin's and fairly priced unlike Starbucks. My first experience with Richies was phenomenal. I got the bacon hash brown croissant. It was crispy, flavorful, and very filling. It was very very oily though. My second visit, I got the iced coffee and a side of hash browns. The coffee was overly sweet, very pale and the hash browns was nothing expected at the price they charged. The only negative thing about Richies is that he takes the weekends off usually. I would say that I'd be there almost every day, but I usually am. Whether it's the bacon-longroll-hotsauce, hot pastrami, Richie wrap, or just a cup of coffee, Richie hooks it up. Come through more than once and order the same thing, he's going to know your name your face and your order. Richie is just a great guy and makes you want to go visit him just to see how he's doing. He's one of those people that after you order there twice he knows your face and generally remembers what you order. I used to get a grilled ham and cheese with tomato on wheat about 17 times a week, but then he changed the kind of ham and I wasn't partial to it so I started switching up meal choices. Chicken parm sandwich is awesome, as is the chicken salad. My friend always gets the grilled chicken honey mustard sammie and swears by it. They've got pretty decent cheesesteaks as well! read more

Where do I begin? Richies first of all is one of the friendliest, most happening places on Temple University's campus. I ate there nearly every day I attended and when I worked for the university, I ate there often as well. The food is reasonably priced, which to anyone (college students and employees alike) is wonderful. No corners cut at Richie's whatsoever. He ensures that all food is fresh and prepared to order. Nobody ever leaves unhappy is Richie's motto. Richie became more than my deli guy. He became one of my great friends when I as in college and is one for life.
