If any of those apply to you, then Sam's Fresh Spot is NOT for you. As a student pressed for cash, my initial drive to get lunch at Sams Fresh Spot was driven by their extremely AFFORDABLE prices. Although the fact that I can get a HUGE delicious Italian hoagie for $10.50 kept me interested, it was the following that has kept me coming back day after day, for years: 1. The food is just ridiculously TASTY. 2. The fact that I can get a bacon egg and cheese (cooked in front of you with fresh eggs and the highest quality meats) on an everything bagel FOR 4 DOLLARS is just insane in 2025. 3. This is a FAMILY institution. The husband and wife (who now greet me by name when I walk through the door) poor their hearts and souls into this business. 4. They CARE about you and this community. Open early at 5:30 am, they serve the hospital staff who work tirelessly to literally keep this city alive. 5. They love their customers and appreciate loyalty. I am consistently given a few pieces of candy, or some extra fruit because they APPRECIATE their patrons. 6. The food is just ridiculously TASTY (again) I'm gonna sum this up so you can stop reading this and start walking towards Sam's Fresh Spot. Your money is SO MUCH BETTER (literally gets you more food for less money) spent here than the other big business competitors such as Wawa or Primos. Your money goes into these people's business, into their family, into OUR COMMUNITY. Sam's Fresh Spot is the ONLY place to go in this neighborhood for great service, great food, great prices, and even better people behind it. read more

New Owners at one of the last non- chain hoagie and sandwich shops in the area. I should have known when there was no one in line. Usually there is a long "U" shaped line all the way to the front of the store . They are in for a challenge. For anyone that knows this spot knows hard and how fast the previous owners worked. The last owners knew your regular order and didn't need to write an order slip. The husband and wife team worked in tandem. She made sandwiches at lightning speed and the husband did salads and cash register, pitching in to make sandwiches as needed. Now they have 4 people doing what 2 people did and are still not able to keep up. There learning curve will be steep . I had to walk them through the hoagie after they forgot the oregano (a philly must that makes it a hoagie otherwize its a sub or a hero) Ohh , Their prices also went up . Excellent spot on Jefferson campus for a quick breakfast. I get the egg/cheese or bacon/egg/cheese on a Kaiser roll. Eggs are freshly prepared. Their turkey sandwich on multigrain bread is good, too. Large assortment of chips, drinks, and snacks for on the go. Pricing is fair. read more

My husband and his coworkers bought hoagies there yesterday ,and as they shared with one another the hoagies were all horrible!! The bread was stale, the tuna salad didn't have any flavor at all. I stop here every morning before work and get my energy drink for the day. The owners are unbelievably nice and friendly, greeting me with a warm smile every morning. The breakfast sandwiches they make are incredibly good. Fresh breads (bagels, kaiser rolls, or long sub rolls), fresh ingredients, all cooked up right when you order it. No warming trays here. Considering how busy Sam's is with Jefferson staff, students, etc. at lunchtime during the week, I'm really, really surprised I'm the first to give it a review. Putting that aside, Sam's is fantastic. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, hoagies, and salads all for *very* reasonable prices. And, maybe surprisingly, their hoagies are probably the best you can get in the immediate Jefferson area at a reasonable price. Besides sandwiches, they usually have a nice selection of soups as well, most of which are fabulous. Unfortunately, if you get there at the tail end of the lunch hour and/or on a really cold day, they run out of soups really quickly. And lines here get really long at peak lunch hours during the week so you should expect a wait, but it's always worth it. Plus, the shop is owned by a really sweet, friendly husband and wife so by supporting them, you're supporting a small business and getting really great service. How has this sub shop eluded me for so long? I work a block away and go the sandwich route about every other day for lunch. Thank goodness I finally stepped foot in here. It was a ~10 person queue (a good sign) and I actually recognized someone else from Jefferson waiting it out. I went with their Italian hoagie which was made to order. They dolled it up real nice, perfect balance of meat cheese mayo and toppings of my choice. Once it was wrapped up and handed over I knew it was a winner based on sheer density. I come here at least twice a week to get a sub during lunch. It costs only 5-6 dollars for about a foot long sub. They cut the meats in front of you. I always switch off between the turkey and roast beef which are so delicious. The bread is also pretty good and they have all the typical toppings. The service is also speedy, however the place is cash only. I have heard the breakfast items here are also good though I have not made it there early enough to try them. read more

Sam's is a great small business and local secret. They use quality ingredients like Boar's Head deli meats and cheeses, and make everything fresh to your order. Highly recommended over local breakfast places such as McDonald's and Wawa, and the same goes for lunch over Wawa and Subway. I adore little hole-one-the-walls that deliver quality food! From the outside, you'd never notice this place but it's one of the most packed joints in the Washington square area. My coworkers and I always order their breakfast burrito--and it's sublime and involves very few ingredients: wrap, eggs, sausage, bacon, green peppers, and onions. That's it. And it's a glorious, delicious, gigantic piece of heaven. $5 and this thing will keep you fully satisfied for hours! Tip: call in to order ahead of time and it's usually ready within 10 minutes and, bonus, you don't have to deal with the line. This place is run by a very adorable mom, pop, and daughter trio. One day my friend forgot that it was cash only and they let her off and said the burrito was on the house. Very nice folks!
