Bar program is strong. The short rib pot pie was a straight up winner. Rich, comforting, and not trying to be anything other than good food done right. The bone marrow lost me. Cooked well, but buried under too many microgreens and then oddly topped with tortilla chip strips. No smokiness either. It felt more confused than cohesive. Where it really started to miss was the overall approach. A lot of "the chef intends this..." type explanations. It ends up feeling like the food insists upon itself instead of just letting you enjoy it. That's the bigger issue. This place exists in a space where I don't think most people want to meet it. Not casual enough to relax, not refined enough to justify the performance. Bottom line: good drinks, great pot pie, but the experience tries a little too hard.

And the store was not busy at all! I had planned to buy the items on my long list while the paint was being mixed. I doubt if I'll go back. This used to be one of my favorite stores. It seemed like there were always friendly, usually older, men ready to assist or answer any questions. It's changed. And not for the better.

He has some really interesting opinions, and I can agree that Traeger makes some great stuff! Anyway, the friendly staff, politely directed me to Jacob, whom helped me install some license plate hardware. My new license plate hardware looks fantastic, and things are neat and tidy in there. The Ace in Mchenry, IL still has blooming flowering plants on sale for $1! Wow! So, I stocked up, and I might return to get my Christmas tree. It looks as if they receive their 3s from a larger 3. It is either some really nice trim, or a shame they cut the roots, but I think I'll try rooting one this season, or if all else fails I can use the wonderful evergreen chips in the garden this spring; maybe, the new Traeger smoker could be the answer. Definitely was satisfied with my purchase, and thank you Alice for setting up my new Ace account. I'm so pleased I found a good price on the plants and hardware. All the local Chicagoland lumber yards charged an arm and a leg for wood slabs and they weren't helpful at all. I made several calls and was directed towards Creative log and lumber up in Twin Lakes, WI. From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a positive experience. The owner Bob was incredibly friendly and passionate about his work. Jim and Scott helped me with all my questions and concerns. They were incredibly patient and knowledgeable. They guided me through every step of the way. The wood pricing was outstanding compared to other lumber yards. The guys found a walnut log big enough for my bar top (it happened to be a 175 year old tree that someone had taken down in their yard in Delavan Wisconsin and was repurposed for a bar top! talk about a conversation piece!) As the slab dried they helped me find additional wood for the face of the bar and quickly cut it to the exact dimensions needed. Lastly, they made a home delivery with the countertop and did an outstanding job with the install! I couldn't be happier with my experience and would rate 10 stars if I could!

We discussed ad nauseam…read morethat it would be a comfortable soft sofa and that the velvet would not attract as much dust and lint as it does. You said it was specifically a better product. I had another chair recovered in velvet at Calico Corners in Wilmette and it does not attract dust and lint at all so it is not necessarily a function of all velvets. You were not nearly as helpful as you sound here on yelp when I had these complaints after the sofa was done. You' were completely unresponsive and refused to assist any further. At minimum, the sofa should've been comfortable and you definitely did mislead me on your product.
