Very nice atmosphere. First impression upon entering- confusion over the table. We had to reserve on yelp as the restaurant didn't answer. This may be just the way they do it; that's okay. Food quality- the birthday girl loved her short rib stroganoff. Skirt steak was good. Fried chicken dry with no flavor, placed around tasteless rice topped with some awful cold cabbage business. Menu said it comes with swiss chard(yay, something green) but the server(Shannon) insisted it did not. Lastly, Delmonico steak was very thin, cooked perfectly though and had a delicious Au Poivre sauce (extra). When my husband ordered a bottle of the wine he likes, our server suggested a much more expensive one because, "if you are a Cabernet person", you will love this one. The ambience was very good. The wait staff was excellent, would rate at 5 stars. I had the French onion soup, and I thought it was exceptional. The crab cake, fried oysters, and asparagus were very good. But they're signature is steak. I, as well as my guest, thought it was good. Nothing more. Being from the midwest maybe our expectations were heightened. But the dry aged ribeye didnt have the flavor profile that even chain steak houses in the midwest have. My girlfriends and I are celebrating a bachelorette at Lake Keowee over the Fourth of July weekend and searched for a fine dining restaurant for a nice night out. We made a reservation at Rick Erwin's Clemson and we are so pleased with our choice! One of our girls had to cancel last minute but called the restaurant to order a bottle of champagne for us. When we arrived, they had the bottle chilled and waiting for us at our table. From the moment we sat down, we knew we were in for a treat! Every dish we ordered was amazing and perfectly cooked. But what made our experience even better was the service! We had Luke as our server and he was just an absolute doll. He made excellent food and drink suggestions and took such great care of us the entire evening. There was a wedding going on in another part of the restaurant while we were there and we would not have known if we hadn't seen them going in because it didn't affect the quality of the food or service at all. This was the best dinner experience we could have asked for to celebrate our bride. We even got to have a quick chat with Rick Erwin! I actually went back a few months ago with my new fiancé as an engagement celebration, but this night really has stayed with me as both delicious and a favorite of our time together. We arrived on a very busy night, but was pleased that there was little wait, and we were able to get an excellent table overlooking the restaurant. It was great that the restaurant was so accommodating to our special occasion and made every effort to make it feel that way. My fiancé and I split an appetizer and then she had the filet while I had the bone-in ribeye. The filet was cooked a perfect medium-rare, and was excellent. The rib-eye edged on the side of being more rare than medium-rare, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and will order it that way in the future. As for sides, she got the macaroni and cheese and I got the Brussels sprouts, which we of course had to share, as I was not about to pass up the chance to eat some of the mac-and-cheese (again, excellent). Finally, the wine we had came at the suggestion of the manager, Jeremy, who took a special interest in our evening. The Cabernet we shared was the best we have had in the year since our engagement, and he was as knowledgable as we have seen together (outside of some of the Chicago restaurants!). It was a very memorable night, and much about it was due to the service and attention that the Rick Erwin's Clemson paid us. We were here for our anniversary tonight and it was fantastic. Started with oysters on half shell(very fresh) and some steaming hot bread. We both had the surf and turf with lobster tail- I had the black and blue topping, it was delicious and my husband had his topped Oscar style, it was also very delicious. We ended dinner with creme brûlée and a "3dot dash" drink which was very surprising--great story behind the drink which the bartender told us.
