Rick Erwins serves the highest quality meats and entrees and cooks to perfection. The service is top-notch. Every meal I have had at Rick's as been a pleasurable and memorable experience. It is not a bar and grille with ten big screens showing the hockey game and peanut shells on the floor. No screaming kids. Not a place to go with rowdy buddies to get drunk. I went in for my birthday Thursday night, and was blown away by the excellent service from our server Bradley. Another server, Liam, would assist us as well, we appreciated their teamwork. Another city, another college tour! During our visit to Clemson we had a late dinner here. We sat in the bar, which was really nice, and they brought us some homemade chips which were very good. For dinner we ordered the mac & cheese (SO GOOD!), asparagus (very well done and a huge portion!), a burger (really good!) & truffle fries (good, but we were so full already!). I had a cocktail made with mezcal and it was really good. I can't remember the name of it it but it was served like an old fashioned, simple with a single large ice cube. We reserved the private dining room for a midweek business dinner and received excellent service from 2 servers. We ordered a ton of sides to share for the table and everything was excellent. I have to say that our experience was poor from the moment we walked in. We were in town celebrating my daughters birthday; she is a student at Clemson. We called ahead and said we were running 10-15 minutes late, but in fact we showed up closer to on time. When we walked in the front desk folks told us to sit and wait for our "updated" reservation time even though we could see our empty table with the Happy Birthday sign on it. And they said they would text us when the table was ready even though we were seated 5 feet from the entryway. Our server was also not pleasant, even going as far as correcting our pronunciation of a particularly expensive champagne we purchased - I thought it was a rule to never embarrass your customer. My food was undercooked and the night was basically ruined from the start. We will be coming to Clemson a lot but never returning to this restaurant. read more

The food was very good with a nice upscale restaurant setting. However, it is not personable with the wait staff as you have many different people coming to your table giving your various things. Regardless the service was excellent and we didn't have to wait on anything. It's on the pricey side but very well worth it, especially in the clemson area. I will say though that our server, Jessica, treated each table completely different and it's hard not to notice when every table is sitting right next to each other - even with reservations. She offered one table all of the specials and drink menu but failed to offer it to our table even though we arrived first and it was not busy. read more

My husband and I went to this restaurant last Monday night since we were in the area. It was our very first visit. Since we didn't have the reservation we were told to go in the bar and find a table as it's first come first served. We sat in the back of the bar. It was loud and noisy so the server came but it was hard for us to hear what she was saying. It took a long time for them to bring the bread they said that was coming. Food was good but the service was very slow. My husband ordered "blackened salmon" and it was way over cooked. Not only that, the server asked if my husband would like to order a drink from the bar. He ordered Mai Tai which is a tropical drink. The server came back and said they are unable to make it. He was shown what's on the drink menu but he couldn't find anything he likes and he said to the server he'd "skip it". Then she asked if he likes fruity flavor, then he described what should be in the drink for mixture. When the drink was brought to table, he immediately noticed they used coconut rum which he doesn't like. Anyway, the point I wanted to make is that he said "skip it" yet she insisted to bring something. Yes, he could have said no to the drink that was served, but he was hoping they would make it as he described the mixture. read more

Ate at Rick Irwin's-Clemson last night. We've eaten at Rick Irwin restaurants over 15 times. It was by far the worst experience we've had at a Rick Irwin restaurant. No salt or pepper on table and after requesting, didn't arrive until end of second course. Requested bread, didn't arrive until the entree was served. Meal was less than average at best. There was a big wedding reception at the restaurant last evening and the staff blamed their less than stellar service and food on this event. Also, my wife's birthday was yesterday and I notified the restaurant of this well in advance and at the time I arrived (which was a few minutes before my wife). Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgement whatsoever. Be "hard pressed" to go again. This is not a cheap dinner event and it sure wasn't worth the money last night. Too bad because Ive always loved this higher-end chain. read more

My wife and I had been looking forward to finally visiting Rick Erwin's in Clemson for my 65th birthday dinner; however, the experience last night left us both underwhelmed. We ate at the bar as we enjoy having a lively dinner. Nothing lively in this bar, including our bartender who acted as if he'd rather have been elsewhere. The other bartender with the hair bun appeared way more professional and into his job. We started with the fried calamari appetizer which nearly ruined our appetite. It was a strange combination of squid body strips in a smoky Nashville hot sauce covered with bread and butter pickle relish, over an onion aioli. Neither of us liked the dish. Next came the salads, The Wedge and the Gourmet Greens, both of which were good, not great. My wife ordered the 8oz Heart of Ribeye with fries and I had the Dry Aged 16oz Ribeye with onion rings. Both steaks were cooked perfectly; however, both lacked seasoning. Not one of the best dry aged steaks I've had. In fact, the Heart of Ribeye was much better than the dry aged ribeye. The fries and the onion rings were some of the best we've ever had, otherwise I'd probably have given them one star. Don't know about dessert, they never asked if we wanted any nor did they ever ask if we were enjoying our dinner. We don't mind paying $300.00 on dinner for two, but not for the food or atmosphere we experienced during this outing. In a word...disappointing! read more

Second visit...A review seems in order. Being the only fancy eats in a small town you are beholden to integrity in service, price and product. Service - it was good and friendly but not excellent Price- Quite pricey for food that is not THE freshest. Steaks are great though. Product- Spring Mix Salad..Really? I would expect way more local fresh, not boxed Supermarket type. Not a good fresh salad. The crab cake was 75% breading! Again, get a $40 steak if you go. The ambience is A+, menu well rounded and service is friendly. FOOD must be Of the highest and freshest to warrant the price tag. read more

wow, terrible dinner at Rick Erwin's Clemson bar last night. First off, 2 of the 6 bar card items were not available - leaving 3 slider items and something else. Three of us had a mix of Kobe and chicken sliders and they were underwhelming if I am generous. The Kobe burgers where the size and palatability of an overdone sausage patty and the chicken was tasteless (though the pimento cheese topping was pretty good) Two of us also had the giant donut-like onion rings that shattered everywhere and revealed a slimy onion thing inside. Feedback to the manager were met with indifference. Not the Rick's we know and love in Greenville. read more

I took my grandson to Rick Erwins and CLEMSON for his 12th birthday on November 19. He loves steak and I wanted to treat him because he is also my best friend. We had reservations for 6:30 PM and were promptly seated when we arrived. Our server for the evening was Jessica and she was delightful. She was very attentive, but not overbearing. We started our meal sharing the shrimp cocktail. It was delicious. The shrimp were large and flavorful and the cocktail sauce was very good. I'm certain it was made in the kitchen. My grandson and I both decided on the 11 ounce fillet mignon, medium rare. he chose the four cheese, macaroni and cheese as his side item and I chose the grilled asparagus. My grandson raved about the macaroni and cheese, and said it was the best that he had ever had. I tasted it, and I had to agree. It was delicious. My asparagus was cooked to perfection. But the star of the meal were certainly the fillets. The meat was cooked perfectly and came out hot. The steak was so tender. It basically melted in your mouth. It was one of the best steaks that I've ever had and my grandson said it was certainly the best steak he had ever had. He chose ice cream as his dessert, but could not decide on a flavor, so Jessica was kind enough to bring a sampling of each flavor. He was very happy with that and enjoyed the ice cream for his birthday dessert. Overall I rate this restaurant with five big positive stars. the prices are not cheap here but you do not expect them to be. With drinks our total was $220 and I tipped Jessica $60. She did an excellent job. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an outstanding meal in this area. I have lived in Pendleton for two years and this is certainly the best restaurant that I have found so far. Thank you for a wonderful outing for my grandson's 12th birthday. read more

Wonderful atmosphere, great food, and attentive staff made it a special evening. We had a great meal at Rick Erwin's Clemson restaurant tonight. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The food was very good but the best part of the meal was the service which was superb. Our server was Zoe S. and her service and knowledge of the menu and wines was the best I have seen anywhere in my travels including Europe. She is a young woman who has taken the time and energy to learn everything about food preparation and serving. She is also easy to talk with and skilled at discussing food selections and making recommendations. I had never met Zoe before, but in the future I will ask that she be our server. read more
