Calamari, cauliflower, deviled eggs with truffles, the pork chop, the scallops, the tuna were all fantastic I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, friendly service, nice location! Our order was taken quickly and made fresh. The steaks are seasoned and cooked to perfection! Appetizer salads are delicious and crisp, and came nicely dressed (not too dry or drowned in dressing). Staff are attentive but not overbearing, so my glass was always full, the table was cleared as needed, but my conversation wasn't being interrupted every two minutes. I really appreciate this as it's nice to be able to have good conversations and focus on your guests without breaking the intimacy of the moment. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a beautiful upscale dining area, and a nice wine cellar. It's located in a newly developed area that is quaint and walkable. Hands down the best food and the best staff in Clemson. Let's start with the GM Meghan Wilbur, she is on point. Meghan is friendly, smart and she knows her stuff. Her staff is one of the best staff's I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Mrs. Donna, Mrs. Joe and Mrs. KC know there stuff, if there smile and good sense of humor don't win you over, there culinary IQ and professionalism will definitely having you asking for them next time you come back, and believe me there will be a next time. Let's move on to the best server is the bizz, Marty. He had a few tables when we were there and he did not miss a beat. His sense of humor sets you at ease and he knows his stuff. If you can't have a good time @ Rick Erwin's you don't deserve the food or the staff. Fried Green Tomatoes, and The house Cured Bacon are out of this word. I would give you a specific Entrée, but yuh really can't go wrong with any of them, and the creme Brûlée' is beyond sinful. Fine dining near my lake house. Similar to the best steak houses in Atlanta. This place is a cut above anything I have experienced in the area. Reminiscent of a warm country club atmosphere - lots of wood - not too formal - it conveys the expectation of perfection. ...and it approaches that expectation. We dined with some friends while engaging in non-stop conversation as we caught up on each other's lives. Our waitress walked a fine line, moving our dining experience along at a pleasant pace while somehow not intruding in our conversation. The experience was impressive. Great salads, an interesting stuffed mushroom appetizer, seafood bisque... For the main course my wife (Cary) and I both picked the crab cakes... served with an Orzo pasta with spinach and a remoulade sauce. The chunks of crab meat were huge. I don't ever remember finishing two crab cakes and feeling satisfied - until tonight. It's simply not possible to make a crab cake better than these. Easily the most impressive meal I have experienced in the state in recent memory, it comes at a price. About $300 for 4 of us after a reasonable 20% tip, undoubtedly worth every penny... This is perhaps the best restaurant, and is certainly the best steakhouse, that I've ever been to in my life. The main reason is of course first and foremost Rick Erwin, the owner, but it is also because of my man Jay Blithe! Jay was our waiter tonight, and he is just a seasoned professional that truly emanates the culture of this wonderful establishment. there's a reason that people that work there never leave and Jay is the epitome of that. Rick Erwin's is consistently so yummy! They're very accommodating to gluten free, with items marked on the menu that don't contain gluten. If you aren't starving, you can get a 4oz filet if you ask, and the large sides are great to share. You MUST try the beet salad- it's my absolute favorite dish. read more

First off the food was quite good, no complaints there. Things started out on the wrong foot in the Service and really did not get better. We had a reservation for 7 PM. We arrived at 6:48 gave the young lady at the deck our name and instead of saying your table will be ready shortly, she said how about checking back with me when you are closer to your reservation time. My wife and I went and sat down to wait for the 7 PM hour while multiple other groups entered. Some were sat immediately and some were also asked to wait. When we were seated (finally) the service was slow, and the wait staff un-attentive. We had to wait for 20 minutes to have our order taken, remind them that we did not receive any bread and also ran out of drink and ask for a refill. I think our staff could use some additional training or maybe its a milllenial thing. I'm not sure. The Ambiance was a little like Buffalo Wild wings. Very noisy and difficult to have a conversation. We will probably go back (this was our first visit and our anniversary) but that decision is souly due to the food. Not the service. We were pretty much exhausted when finished instead of relaxed and happily satisfied. read more

Our grandson plays football for Clemson. Our family went to Rick Erwin's expecting a wonderful dinner. I must admit the food was very good But the service was Awful It took forever to get our drinks and the somewhat expensive wine took way too long. We had one waiter trying to bring 3 glasses of tea, twice which we didn't order. Then when we are finished eating, the waitress came and refilled 2 water glasses out of 7. After spending $1,100.00 it was a disappointment. Will probably return next year during football season and try again. Atmosphere was good as well as the food but the service was quite a bummer. They just weren't attentive. We own a restaurant and other businesses and our goal is to treat every customer like it was our last! read more

Last night we celebrated two birthdays at Rick Erwins. Although there was a wine tasting in another part of the restaurant, we were able to eat from the regular menu, which suited us to a T! The staff was attentive and experienced. a nice touch was the Happy Birthday card signed by the staff members. We had many dishes between the five of us and all were delicious; I ordered the three choice menu selection: the Caesar salad was good and generous and the small filet was perfectly cooked, From oysters to special side dishes like the Brussels sprouts, nothing disappointed...and the crème brûlée!! the Manager was active and engaging checking on all the diners which made for a special experience. read more

My husband and I ate here on a Monday night. We tried calling multiple times but no one would answer the phone. We did finally get a call back from, we are guessing, the hostess who saw our missed number on their phone. We brought nice wine for the evening. The som was very nice...opened the bottle of wine, brought nicer glasses to the table, and decanted our bottle. He did his job well. Then things kinda fell apart. We ordered the porterhouse for two with onion rings side, the foie gras app, and the gourmet greens salad. Salad - very fresh but had feta cheese instead of blue. Foie gras - good, well prepared but very small. Porterhouse - When we ordered it, the server asked if how it was to be prepared, and we stated Medium Rare. He then stated that it came with shrimp in sauce and mashed potatoes. We stated that we didn't need that (my husband is allergic to shrimp), and he repeated that it came with it. We asked for all that on the side. The porterhouse arrived, overcooked, and a lot thinnner than any porterhouse we have ever ordered. That was confirmed by the manager who stopped by to state that our onion rings were running 10 minutes behind the rest of our meal, and we had him look at the steak and tell us how it was prepared and he stated "medium." The shrimp was okay but really wasn't eaten because the steak and onion rings were enough. Onion rings ended up being free, steak ended up being 1/2 price. However, we were charged the extra fee for shrimp scampi that we didn't order but were told it accompanied our meal. All in all, not a great experience. In a nice restaurant, servers shouldn't mislead diners into ordering things they don't want and should put in the entire order and not omit things. Steak restaurants should be able to prepare steaks to order with no exceptions. read more

Worst meal for $300 ever! Took my daughter for her birthday dinner and food was mediocre at best. Calimari was soggy and undercooked. My crab cake entree was not even hit and came with a side of discolored and old lettuce. I think they took an old salad snd just put the crab cakes on the side of it! Food took forever to come and in the mi of my meal a German cockroach fell from the ceiling snd landed on the table! We grabbed it with a napkin a server took it away. The management apologized but this comlete ruined the meal. We paid our bill and promptly left! Never going back there! read more
