The ambiance, the greeting, the service the cocktails, and the food were all stellar! We chose Lobster bisque (did not care for the celery in it)? However... the rib eye and the market fish, these entrees were absolutely cooked to perfection and so scrumptious! The creme brulee and the brown sugar cheese cake were divine! Their lavatory needs some work, one stall out if order, holes in the walls and a very nauseating odor. So glad I went at the end of the meal or I might have list my appetite. 8 days on the road with meals in SC, GA, AL and MS, and our dinner at Blue Heron was the best of the trip. This is a very attractive, comfortable space in a neat little town. 7 of us had sushi, Mahi Oscar (nightly special), steaks, and seared tuna. Everyone raved about their food, but I would not have traded my tuna for anything! Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented on a bed of spinach ringed by sliced carrots and balsamic. Truly an exceptional dish. We had a bottle of Cotes du Rhone that worked nicely with all entrees. Our server, Hudson, was a total delight: personable, fun, efficient, attentive. Prices are moderate. We get to S. Carolina once a year and this was our third visit to Blue Heron; it has been a meaningful tradition as we join our family who live in Easley and our friends who live in Clemson. Amazing first experience!!! My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here with our toddler and we were so impressed! Everything was outstanding from the moment we were greeted with warmth when we walked in to the well wishes for our anniversary as we walked out. I had the blackened salmon and my husband had the filet mignon - both were phenomenal. Our server, Josiah, was also highly attentive and kind. Parking is difficult but after 3 times around, I got lucky. I have heard so much about this place and went when it was burger night which was a good deal. Well, apparently it states a beer and burger but you can only get the most basic domestic ones like bud. I asked if they could credit and I pay more for a different domestic or wine and was told no so I didn't get the burger. I ended up ordering the tuna tartar and a speciality salad. The waitress was really nice, very attentive. I did notice she told the table next to me specials but not the burger one (which i had read about and brought up). Back to the food, the tuna tartar was just not good. The salad was ok and not satisfying after the tuna. They do provide bread and a mix of butters so that is the (only) highlight. I called a week ahead to plan a watch party for the Artemis splashdown to see if they could put it on one of their many TVs. The manager on the phone said sure, they could do it. When my party got there different manager said they would look in to it. She then proceeded to disappear and never return. Eventually I asked again and the owner came out after a long delay and said 'No, we only show golf' or some crap like that. Basically, if you ask for something special they will promise it to you and then not deliver, even though it was easy. Its a slimy way to get people in the door. Food was excellent though and we had a great bartender. The owner seems like the problem. read more

The service is terrible and you should expect to be there for a while. It took me 35 minutes sitting at a table before I met my waitress. last night was our second time at the blue heron, and we will not return due to the service, plus the food was terrible. I asked for lemon for my water- never received. We ordered a garden salad with our meal and asked what dressings were available-our answer: "balsamic, blue cheese, ranch, those are the ones on the top of my mind, but I know we're out of Italian." She never found out what the other dressings were. We ordered the pork chop dinner and the pasta seafood-both very disapointing. The pork was dry and overcooked, the seafood was missing items that we're included on the menu-one of the two clams were closed-can't eat those! After a hour of waiting, we had to ask if we could have our salads! We had to ask another waitress if we could get another drink! We had to ask for bread, isn't that something that should be offered? The place was basically empty and we rarely saw our waitress. Oh, and be careful what drinks you order from the bar - they seem to run out and chuckle about it. Ambiance-how do people go to a restaurant at 8-9pm with new born babies and young children, making it difficult to maneuver around. We only returned to the blue heron because we had a great waitress the first time, and told her we would be back to see her! The service was excellent. We were on the informal Side of the restaurant and they have a reservation only side of the restaurant. Rustic ambiance with sports tv on the wall in side of restaurant. A large wine, beer and drink menu! I had the seafood pasta which you can choose white or red sauce. I chose traditional red sauce which was very flavorful and had mild spices. It had clams mussels, scallops and shrimp with angel hair pasta. It was amazing. All the shellfish was cooked perfectly. The plus was NO SAND in the shellfish!!! Topped with fresh Parmesan. My husband had the stroganoff made with premium ground beef and fettuccini type noodles in a brown sauce. He loved the flavors. The stroganoff was topped with feta cheese which gave the meal just enough saltiness! Dessert was crème brûlée that was served at room temperature which I prefer with a nice crisp top and a strawberry. I had the brown sugar bourbon pecan cheesecake that was enough for two. Large slice! The food is high end, prices are above average but the food is worth every dollar! They also serve sushi rolls as a dinner. Great for a special occasion or date night! I'm between a 3 and a 5 - 5 for the food and 3 for everything else. I would have felt like maybe the restaurant was just having an off day before I read other reviews and realized it seems like there are lots of days when something is off here ... We had a reservation for 5 with my 96 YO Grandfather. He is in generally good health and utilizes a cane but I'm not so sure they utilized good service or judgment placing us on the second floor of the restaurant - especially since there were LOTS of tables on the first floor that were never occupied during the entirety of our visit. There is no elevator - he wobbled/hobbled up the narrow stairs while the rest of us stressed this would be what did him in. I believe the power had went out at some point before our visit - whether it permanently affected the AC, no idea - we might as well have eaten in hell it was SO HOT (especially on that second floor) - it was at least 77 degrees (in our fancy attire) with NO air and no hint that the air was actually working. I felt most for our server who had on long black pants and long sleeves and had to go up and down the stairs so many times. She was delightful - probably the only saving grace for this review. The food was good. For the price point, the lack of "extra" is definitely noticeable ... the front house of staff is just off - no extra welcome greeting (in fact when I checked in for our reservation, the man was annoyed - our reservation was for 5 and he asked me with a slight tone, "So you need a 5-top?" ... I said, "I'm sorry I don't know what you mean with a 5-top, is it an elevated table top because my Grandpa can't sit on that." With his annoyed face and tone he replied, "No it means a table for 5.") ... the server and good food are what saved this review. Anything less and I would have left a 2 or 3 star. This is the same name but the Blue Heron I reviewed was in a completely different space in Clemson and I've found, in this new space, that's Blue Heron is good, but not amazing. The space is louder and more chaotic and I found the food to good enough to enjoy while there, but not good enough to go out of my way to go there. Since every meal I have when I am SC is a bit of an effort to get out for, I will likely not be back. That said, they so have a lively bar atmosphere and service is pretty good. read more

My family who lives nearby frequents the Blue Heron and has tried most of the menu and enjoys everything. Unfortunately my husband was not impressed by his cut of meat. The service was a quite slow and everyone was incredibly nice. Our server was young and overpoured our wine which was sweet but worked out since only three of us were having wine anyways. It was quite loud and couldn't hear much of the conversations from across the table. Overall, the food I had was great, but was hard to enjoy a meal at dinner time. Food was very good but small portion size for $26 grouper. Service was very slow. It did not have an elegant relaxing feel like a fine dining restaurant should. Instead it was loud and chaotic. Half-price wine on Wednesdays. We thought it was half off the price on the menu-but it was misleading. The half price they advertise on Wednesdays is the price you see on the menu already marked half price. After we ordered and ate soup as our appetizer, waitress mentioned how good the soup was with bread. I looked around and other tables all had bread. I asked about ours- she had forgotten to bring it. After bread brought, eaten and removed, there were bread crumbs on the table which waitress just left there when she placed the main course dishes. For this high caliber restaurant with the price point where it is, waitress should have been more attentive. Wiping away bread crumbs covering table before main course, not forgetting to serve bread and not making us wait one full hour before meal was served. It can be a bit loud so asking for a table upstairs on the dining side cuts that down. But it is and has been consistently one of the better restaurants on the Clemson area. If you want quiet and intimate- probably not the spot for you. But if you don't mind a social atmosphere and want well priced food that is delicious- you'll love it! We sat at the bar due to not having a reservation and the bartender that took our order was extremely grumpy towards customers and very rude to his coworkers. He clearly did not want to be there. It was embarrassing to watch how he talked to his coworkers and I felt very bad for them that they had to put up with that. Next time I will make sure to have a reservation to hopefully have a nice, normal server. People have talked highly of this restaurant so I was excited to give it a try. I went to the Blue Huron in Pendleton SC last evening, New Year's Eve. This is another "date night" place for people who do not know any better. This is one of the worst places that I have paid money to eat at, and I have lived in major cities in the US and Europe and eat out often. My Caesar salad was limp and appeared to have been prepared much before my arrival, my seafood pasta was advertised to come with penne pasta and arrived with spaghetti pasta instead, the proper sauce is a white sauce but mine came with a marinara sauce, my lady friend ordered the ribeye which had so much gristle that she asked the waiter to try to cut it. The young man waiter tried his best and I tipped him well and directly. The restaurant got a zero tip. The influencers can say what they are paid to say, but this place should be avoided. I hear that I really good restaurant is moving to the Pendleton Square and maybe it will run the Blue Huron out of business. read more
