    Slop with fresh sausage gravy

NOTE: NOT TOURIST FRIENDLY! What a shame! Changes are a foot at Sheri's Eastside Diner! The once happy and smiling service driven fluffy egg magicians have sadly soured. Where to start? Tasteless food, watery sausage gravy, waitresses that give you eye contact WHILE SIGNALING FOR HELP just to confirm that they are ignoring your pleas for attention, gossipy chatter behind the counter with alternating stares. Ugh! I couldn't have hated my breakfast anymore. Sorry tourists, but Craylee's right up the road will quench your sausage gravy thirsts.

I was taught the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Well... we all need to amend that definition. The new definition of insanity is trying to finish a breakfast at the east side. I ordered the giambotta - no surprise there, I've tried them all around Utica. The plate came out and I knew I was in big trouble. This thing was Mammoth! Now I'll admit most of it was made up of potatoes but in my book - potatoes are a food group (my favorite one). There were plenty of sausage, greens and a ton of cheese melted on top too. If you haven't checked this place out - please do so - the prices are decent, the portions huge, decor very nice and the coffee is great.

Fantastic place! Our waitress, Sheri, was wonderful. Christine worked the room keeping everybody's coffee topped off. The food was excellent and the prices very reasonable.

Service was very good but loud, the TV is pretty high in volume. The giambrotte is very big but lacks a little bit of flavor and the majority of it is home fries. Reasonably priced.

    The hot chocolate (incredible)

The Syracuse University chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha stopped at Sheri's Eastside Diner for breakfast on the way back from our bi-annual weekend retreat, unaware that our lives were about to be changed forever. When we called ahead, we were surprised that they were willing to seat a hungry group of 25+ college students, but--to our surprise--we were all seated with no wait time. Upon entering, we were charmed by the quaint, kitschy decor. As an organization primarily consisting of film students, the interior reminded us of a film set, almost like one of the small-town diners featured on ABC's "What Would You Do?" with John Quiñones. In fact, we kept peeking back at the security camera to make sure there wasn't a camera guy on the other side of the wall. I'll be honest, we were A LOT to handle. I think we may have scarred the regulars for life. But Sheri and the rest of the staff were extremely accommodating and joked around with us. We kept them on their feet with lots of requests and substitutions, but they met our every need, bringing us sauces and to-go boxes at record speeds and constantly offering refills on drinks. Our group ordered a variety of breakfast/lunch dishes (probably half the menu), and I did not hear a single complaint. We really got a kick out of the dish names, our favorite being, "Slop." Although the prices are low, the portions are huge. In fact, many of us had leftovers for DAYS. Queen Sheri, probably aware of how many leftovers people take home, blesses her patrons with sturdy plastic to-go boxes (the GOOD ones), not the flimsy styrofoam ones you would normally get at any other small-town diner. And the food was still great days later! Overall, dining at Sheri's Eastside Diner was an experience that DKA will be talking about for years to come. I rarely tip above my usual 20%, but I gave Sheri a 30% tip that day (which wasn't even that much considering how well-priced the food was). Delta Kappa Alpha bestows its highest honor upon our Empress, Sheri, the embodiment of our 10 jewels of character, and we hope to one day make a pilgrimage back to her divine kingdom for another feast.

3rd try's the charm ! Tried to go to 2 other restaurants first that were closed!

Very slow service. 40 minutes for a to go order, over 30 minutes wait from ordering to eat. Food was nothing special. Hashbrowns bland and not crispy. Strawberries were frozen and defrosted. First was drenched in butter. Coffee was so- so and served with 50/50 pods, not fresh cream or milk. Staff was friendly, restaurant was clean. Much bigger inside than expected. High chairs available. No changing table in restroom.

So much food! Good stuff and so affordable. I wish we had a place like this back home

My belly and soul were so happy after visiting Sheri's that I had to share my thoughts with the rest of the Yelp world. Great taste, awesome price and value and a welcoming staff. What else do you need from a small but mighty place that doesn't advertise bells and whistles but only good comforting food. I'll def. stop by next time we go visit the in-laws in central NY. Enjoy!

    The BIG Three

Thanks to the Utica Restaurant Review page on FB, & numerous positive reviews, we went to Sheri's East Side Diner for breakfast. Sheri was very busy, however, extremely pleasant and had a smile on her face. Food was plentiful and excellent! We ordered The BIG Three. And, it's big. We could not finish it. Everything was served hot and pardon the pun, but Sheri kept all the plates 'spinning'. Highly recommend. We will be back!

Best pancakes and omlettes in Utica area. Friendly staff, and always seating even if the parking area looks full.

I said hi and then all I asked was why they painted the place to look like Denny's. Needless to say, Richie decided to flip out because I was insulting and what not even though I kept a very calm voice I wasn't being rude. I was voicing my opinion that it looks like Denny's, I was not being nasty or anything. I was talking in a calm voice and a quiet voice because there are customers in there, Richie on the other hand was extremely rude. Loud and obnoxious and ended up making my five-year-old grandson cry. He also barked at me because I don't like the color of the place and proceeded to tell me that he could say some awful things about me... He doesn't even know me to say anything about me but that's besides the point. I proceeded to stand up, let him know he was being ridiculous all over a color then told him he has lost my business. Four elderly people were coming in and he just kept going on and on and on. I let him know He has lost my business for life. One you don't make my daughter cry, which he told me he had just got done chewing her out in front of people because she doesn't like the color and was joking about it with him and she was in the bathroom crying, two you don't make my grandson cry and three you do not talk to me the way he was and in front of people also. I used to go there once sometime to to 3 times a week and would also stop in and buy a box of goodies for my vet... NEVER AGAIN! Richie you need to do better than to treat customers and employees the way you do, it's a disgrace. I took my grandson and we went to Olive Garden and were treated the way a customer should be treated and yes I let them know why my grandson was upset.

He said did you tell them you wanted to be seated together? So finally after telling us it would be a fire hazard they put three tables together after acting like it was our fault. So we get seated about 10 minutes later waitress came got the drinks, another 15 minutes goes by she came back to take our order. About 15 minutes after that they brought out bread which was very good. So when the order came two of us got corn and when i looked at it it looked brown and old and tasted horrible, almost everyone on the table tried it and said it was bad. So I asked for something else told her it was horrible so broccoli it was. That finally came out like mush it was also horrible and couldnt eat that. The waitress never came back asking if we wanted another drink. Besides how bad the vegetables were everyone said their food was okay, I had Pot Roast and that was good. The other food was good, nothing special. We noticed that all the staff was all younger where the ones at the old place were middle aged and seemed to care more. We are not a needy party we are actually pretty easy but this was not good and will not be going back any time soon.
