ZERO stars!! they LOST my chloe designer item worth $1000. terrible customer service - they never followed up with me. i had to call 8 times over a month for resolution. their compensation resolution for losing my $1000 blouse is to give me just $30 check or give me $50 worth of future dry cleaning services. this is extremely frustrating and unacceptable compensation from rick's management. This business clearly does not care about the negative reviews - but if you chose to bring your clothes here, BEWARE. The reviews are spot on. The staff is incredibly rude. They ruined a nice linen shirt that came back with a brown stain on the shoulder. They refused to help, saying we waited too long - even though my husband just picked up the cleaning less than a week ago. They ruined a Tom Ford sweater and just said, "sorry." They didn't even reverse the dry clean charge as a minimum. It was an expensive article of clothing and they did not take any responsibility. Furthermore, the employee who works during the day is not friendly at all. She rarely smiles and is quite rude to customers. I only came here out of convenience but I'll happily go elsewhere. Workers here are rude. Had never heard of this place but stopped by and tried it out and quickly found that everyone had a terrible attitude. Didn't argue with anyone or have any major issue but I definitely won't be back. This Rick's Cleaners would get a 10 star review from me if it was possible. This past weekend, they totally saved my life, and I cannot thank them enough. I had recently gotten a bridesmaid dress altered, and when I picked it up from the alteration place, I discovered it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. This was unfortunately only 3 days before the wedding, so not a lot of time to fix the problem. When I called Rick's, Peggy (I hope I remembered this lovely woman's name correctly, but please forgive me if I didn't) told me to bring it right in to see if they could get it done in time for me. When I got there, she took one sniff of the dress, validated how bad it smelled, and reassured me it would ready before the wedding. Oh, and when she told me how much it was going to cost, I was shocked at how low the price was, particularly for a last minute request! I could have cried from relief. The dress ended up looking - and smelling - great, and I didn't have to empty my wallet to do it. You have gained an incredibly appreciative new customer. We have used Rick's for some years and always appreciated the service and the prices for quality cleaning. Recently we took in six silk curtain panels for which we were charged $20 each. Sadly only four were returned and apparently two were destroyed. Following a long conversation with Lucinda about the loss of these curtains from Pottery Barn, we were told it was our risk and we got no compensation or acknowledgement of the problem. We did not even receive the $40 back for the cleaning fee for $300 worth of lost curtains. We were assured that this was an award winning family business but it certainly did not seem that way on this occasion. The non-response was a real surprise to us. In fact, it is a disappointing way to do business, especially in Austin. Sadly, they lost a longtime customer for no real reason. read more

They clean your stuff about as well as any other place for probably less money. However, the people aren't real friendly and the check in process is slow especially when there is a line. They are also kind of finicky about what they will take and what they won't. Shirts that I get laundered at other places and even wash myself they won't take (Patagonia). They do ok but I don't feel real good about it when I go in there. read more

Ricks is a welcome change from most dry cleaners in the Westlake area. A typical cleaner experience for me is overpriced, broken buttons, stains not removed, overpriced, and when they loose something they act like they have never met you before, and they are overpriced. The service is similar to that of a refreshment stand at a kids baseball game with volunteer help. They charge 2.39 per item no matter what it is. It is prepaid so I dare them to loose something and tell me they never got it. I will have a receipt that says they did. So far my two experiences there have been great. I like this place because I am cheap. It's not far from my home and it's on my way to and from work. There is no drive thru and nothing fancy about it, but the price is right and they do a good job. Most of my items are not extremely expensive or fragile, so I am comfortable taking them here. They have coupons online and in the Austin Chronicle that reduce the price to $2.59 per item. They will send you coupons if you join their mailing list too. You really can't beat that, especially in Westlake. 4 stars. read more

I gave Rick's on Bee Caves Rd a try because their prices are less expensive than my usual cleaners. They cleaned my items ok however I just went to drop off another load and after standing in line for a while and observing the staff, I decided not to leave my items. They are extremely unfriendly and take forever to assist customers. I will not go back. There was a sweet older woman in line in front of me who was trying to explain particular issues with her garments and the staff completely ignored her and didn't even make eye contact. I believe customer service is important and I will choose to give business to places who strive to be friendly in my community. I would encourage others to live in the Westlake area to not patron this business. I will gladly pay a few dollars more to return to my extremely friendly and competent dry cleaners... Rick's certainly is not the best cleaners in town, but you get what you pay for. I use them for simple stuff like sweaters, simple blouses, skirts, pants, etc. and they do a good if not great job on that. However, anything tricky with fancy buttons or intricate pleating or details I will take someplace else (they have ruined buttons in the past - lesson learned - move on). They also have coupons on their website that make Rick's an even better value. So for simple stuff, they are good...fancier stuff, not so much. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Has your clothing been damaged and the owner given you the "I'm going to do rigorous testing to find out the cause of this unfortunate event." speech? Seems I am not the only one who has been given this RUN AROUND. I have a friend who's expensive blouse was damaged and the owner told her he would WAIVER the testing CHARGE. Really. I was never told there was a charge, only that all damaged clothing received this testing protocol. Believe me, he went into great detail about how he would personally take the time to solve this mystery. Welll.....after RIGOROUSLY testing my damaged shirt, he informed me that unfortunately, this was not his cleaners fault. It would appear that something on the back of MY SHIRT reacted with his cleaning chemicals to cause the burn marks and therefore he would not be responsible for the reimbursement. What?? He then told me he went online and my $80 shirt was indeed ON SALE and marked down to $50. What a bargain! A bargain for YOU I explained. After many words, he finally balked and came back with an offer.... he would give me a cleaning credit for the SALE price of the shirt. A cleaning credit. Seriously, Ian could have just been a good guy and reimbursed me the sale price of the shirt and I would have been fine. Now he has lost my business, my husbands business, and all my friends with whom I share this terrible experience. read more

I have gone there quite a few times since and been much happier with the quality and service. They have really stepped it up here and the prices are still great. Not only does this place have the best pricing around they also do an excellent job with my clothes, usually within a day of drop off. On top of that they always remember my name and ask me about my day. I've tried many other cleaners in the area and no one else can compete with this Rick's. I guess Rick's Cleaners is able to offer low prices because they hire the most unmotivated staff possible. I have gamely ignored the disinterested and downright rude service I have received over the last three years because of said prices, but I am no longer going to do that. I brought back a sweater that still had the dry cleaner numbers pinned to it. I had opened up the bag to discover that there was some sort of dirt smudged all over the entire sweater. I hadn't brought it in to the cleaners that way and it's safe to say that it wasn't cleaned while it was there. I took it in to be redone. Now let me be clear that I didn't take it in for a reimbursement. Nor to try and pay for the sweater which very well could be ruined. I took it in to see if they could TRY and do the job I had originally paid them to do. Alas, Rick's does not find it worth the $2.59 to fix what they had done to retain my loyalty because I didn't have my original receipt. "Could you look in your computer under my account?" I ask. "No. Our new system doesn't save that kind of information..." Really? You are telling me your brand new computer system, with built in RFID scanning capabilities, doesn't have the ability to pull up an invoice from less than 2 weeks ago? If that's the truth, well then let me be the first to welcome you to 2012, Rick. Your tech choices are certainly unfortunate, but if you don't find it worth eating $2.59 to retain my loyalty - a customer who visits twice monthly and spends at minimum $30 per trip and someone I KNOW your manager recognizes - then that's the truly unfortunate part to me. There is a dry cleaner on every corner in Austin, so if Rick doesn't have the wherewithal to trust a customer that they recognize as being loyal, than I don't have the patience to continue to ignore their rude staff and utilize them. read more

I'm not a big Yelp! reviewer. As you can see, I've only provide a few reviews over the years. I typically review when I receive outstanding or poor service. Unfortunately, this is the latter. Honestly, when I decided to use this location I thought it was a Reid's Cleaners location. But since I was there, I dropped off several shirts and pants for dry cleaning. When I opened the bag with my dry cleaned pants - it was obvious that the stains I had were still there. Three to be exact - and each could be seen with a glance. I took a claim check with the pants back to the store. I showed the manager the stains and her first response was "we don't guarantee any stains." Secondly she said I had the wrong ticket. I had taken the Laundry ticket - not the Dry Clean receipt. "You're kidding me." was my response. She merely pointed to the sign above. "But you have in your computer what I brought in." Grudgingly she agreed to send them back. OK...here's the rub. ATTITUDE. Not an apology. Not those are hard stains. Not an explanation. Just "we don't guarantee to remove stains." OK...maybe other cleaners have the same caveat. But come on Rick - get someone who at least pretends to care about your customers. And do you REALLY need the receipt? I picked them up last week. I was off yesterday and came in the following work day. They're still on the original hanger. It's obvious they're still pressed. Rick you need to work on customer service. read more

Awful cleavers. You get what you pay for. They could not clean a simple olive oil stain from blouse. No notification after I picked up blouse. When I returned to notify, attendant said not all spots are guaranteed to come out. No refund either. Their policy is to charge customers for at least trying to clean. Wow! read more

The reason I stopped going before was because I had a coupon for 20 items, and brought in 40 (2 sets of 20 at the discounted price). On pickup, I was delivered 39 items and told I had to pay the difference in price between 39 and 40 since the discount no longer applied (and I couldn't have ANY of my prepaid dry cleaning until I paid the extra). When I argued that Rick's staff had counted the clothes and the number was 40 at drop off, why would Rick's staff now blame me for the missing item/miscount and demand extra payment? This went on for at least 30 minutes while every staff member in the store stood their ground (and this includes calling on the phone to an outside manager) to confirm that I could not have my prepaid dry cleaning until I paid this fee. After paying the fee, I returned home to find that a garment was missing (thus the change in the garment count) - your staff lost it. I went back to track it down, it was never found. So that's a novel strategy - lost my stuff AND charge me extra for the privelege! Nice! And by the way this is the story of why I stopped going to Rick's the first time - the lost favorite sweaters is the most recent time. So no, Ian, you can't fix this. This is not a one time event. This is how you do business! Just not with me. read more

I give them 2 stars ONLy because it is super affordable...BUT....sometimes my clothes come back dirtier than when I left them and wrinkled. I understand for the low price of $3 I can't expect much but I'm shocked that when I have brought these issues to the attention of the staff they offer no apologies or solution. I just get this look from them as if to say..."oh well, we don't really care". So you walk out with dirty clothes sometimes and get no apologies. I guess for half the price of their competitors I should only expect a good job half the time but still... an apology goes a long way. REVISION: To their credit the owner personally contacted me to offer his apology about my experiences. I credit them an extra star for that but the clothes do still seem a little wrinkly and sometimes not super clean. read more

I had three dress shirts cleaned. One came back with bleach like stains on the front and back. The clerk said it must have had starch splashed on it. They rewashed it and it was still stained and not wearable any longer. She said customer services would call me. Ian called me and in a speech like manner explained how that could not happen in the Plant. Maybe it was due to perspiration or cologne reacting with the fabric. I said this shirt has been washed here 15 times with the same perspiration and cologne..I asked to be reimbursed or credited $20. The cost of the shirt. This was my first time using Rick's Cleaners and I will not return. I dropped off two recently purchased dresses and a skirt, all had been worn once. Both dresses had removable straps with the straps attached at both ends when I dropped off. When I picked up, one dress had neither of the straps, one dress had just one strap along with two NEW linear, brown stains down the right side of the chest (it is a white dress with black polka dots). I sent the dress back for a redo clean. I was told by the woman behind the counter that she would call the plant on Monday and ask about the missing straps and then call me. She didn't. I picked up the dress yesterday and they did remove the stain free of charge. The second strap, however, was not returned. I explained that this rendered the garment unwearable for me. "Sorry" was all I got....this was a $200 dress worn once. There was no offer for compensation or recourse. I explained that this was the first time that I had used RIck's and that I was not impressed and would not return. "Sorry." Uh, not you're not. If you were, you'd do something about it, like offer a way to file a claim or compensate me in some way. I fully understand that that the women working the counter at Rick's are not doing the service - that is the plant's job. However, it is their job to manage customer relations and they're not doing a very good job of it. There was no advocating for the customer here, just an insincere apology for poor service. I'm going back to Jack Browns on Lake Austin Blvd. where they are friendly and always get it right. read more

By far the worst dry cleaners I have ever been to. I don't usually write reviews but people must know what a poor excuse for a business this place is. I am new to the area and thought I would give it a try. I didnt have anything extra special that needed cleaning. When I picked up my dry cleaning it had been a few days since i pulled out a pair of khaki pants I had them wash and iron. Well they had a red stain that appeared to have been caused by the iron. Like a red garment had been run through the iron prior to my pants and some of the color transfered to my pants. No big deal I thought I would just take them back and explain what they had done and all I wanted was for them to rec-clean my pants. The girl asked me if I had my receipt, which I didn't she then said she needed to ask her manager and out walked this rude Hispanic lady (I'm Hispanic by the way) saying I needed to pay for it if I didn't have my receipt. She was matter of fact and pretty much didn't care. I left and will not be back. You may be thinking your saving a little but its not worth it. read more

In the past I used Rick's because it was convenient (near my daughter's school). It was never a good experience going in there, and the dry cleaning was always margina. But it was something I could tolerate since I was always short of time. However, today, I made the mistake of thinking it would be easy enough to drop off a single item of dry-cleaning. I had the worst experience at Rick's cleaners. One time I took my new comforter to get it dry cleaned. I had only had it a couple of months. Rick's destroyed it. I spoke to 3 different people about it and no one would compensate me for it. They blamed me and wouldn't help. They said it wasnt their fault. I took it somewhere else and I was told that it had obviously been WASHED not dry cleaned like it was supposed to be. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. Do not give your business to Rick's Cleaners! Do not waste your time and especially do not waste your money! I took laundry and dry cleaning to Rick's for several months. I always thought the attendants were rude and lazy, but the price was right. After finally getting tired of the attitude, I made a change to a different dry cleaner with great customer service and quality, although a bit pricey. Last week, I decided I would save a little money and go back to Rick's since I was in the neighborhood. Huge mistake!! When I picked up the laundry, one of my husband's shirts was ripped. There was a note attached saying "due to age and wear, this garment could not withstand normal laundering procedures". When I brought this up to "Barbara", the rudest of the attendants and apparently the manager, and explained that this shirt was absolutely not ripped when I brought it in, she said the shirt must have been cleaned too many times and that this was not their fault. I wondered how she could have possibly known how many times this shirt had been laundered... Unfortunately, payment must be made when dropping cleaning off at this establishment. I asked if Rick's would at least refund or credit me for the amount I had paid for cleaning this shirt and was told "no" and again that this was not their fault. So I left with a ruined shirt, not so much as an apology AND paid them for it! BEWARE! read more
