We are pretty impressed with this place. Only gripe is that of a couple of others in that's it's just slightly over-priced for some of the things you can order there. Now that's out of the way... We have been to Rick's 4 times now. As I've said in a few other reviews, we have 3 kids. The staff here have always been understanding of that. they get their drinks out quick with lids on them and has brought over coloring pads with crayons every visit. The staff has always been great and attentive. Plenty of parking with a cabin style atmosphere. The food has always been really good, especially the seafood dishes. They also have a decent selection of brews (Andygator being one of them for $4) compared to other restaurants in the area. Added bonus: We had some friends come in for New Years and I was able to make a reservation via their Facebook page messenger. So, if I could, I'd put them in the 4 to 4.5 star review category. If they adjust a couple of the prices down just a little, it's a 5 star review from me all day every day. read more

The food, the service, etc. Grilled & Fried crab claws a 1/2 pound total for $20 is a little high BUT so good. I will order quarter pound to share next time though. I ordered the Cajun chicken Alfredo and was pleasantly surprised - more than that, my taste buds were happy!! I would definitely irder that again. My neighbor ordered a half catfish po boy. He said it was crispy, salty, and whatever the green stuff used for seasoning that's what he tasted. He said it isn't something he would order again. It came with French fries. We had just left the Talladega track looking for a place to eat. We found this on yelp and saw the good reviews so we felt good about stopping in. I've been in the restaurant business for 39 years and from start to finish the staff here made us feel welcome and appreciated. Harley was our main waitress and was awesome! And we were also checked on by 2-3 other folks through our stay. I would go back just for that, but now the food. The owners are from Louisiana and the flavors on the menu showed that. This was my second trip to Rick's Crossroads Grille. We tried the boudin balls, cheese curds and pickles as appetizers in our large group. Most everyone enjoyed the boudin balls, I enjoyed the cheese curds which were new for me from Ricks. The service was kind and fast. I picked a lunch portion of the Cajun chicken Alfredo. While the sauce impressed, the chicken was fairly dry/unseasoned, or possibly not as great of quality. I was expecting slices or a breast, and the meat was actually in tiny chunks, not the most appetizing. However, just eating the pasta and the Cajun cream sauce was enough for a really pleasant dish. This restaurant is indeed and asset to their community. The prime rib was very good especially for the price. I was disappointed though that the gumbo was quite bland. It seemed the sausage in it was the only component that had seasoning. And it had no okra. The service was exceptional...obviously eager to please. It was our first time there and we drove by it twice. The building is on a a corner and on a hill but still difficult to spot in the dark. My wife and I had an early dinner at Rick's this evening. I had the surf and turf (prime rib and fried shrimp) and my wife had the rib eye steak. Both were absolutely wonderful! Our service could not have been better. If you go on Thursday, Friday or Saturday when the prime rib is served, arrive early because the secret is out.
