We have seen the Cafe many times, but usually late in the day after they are closed. We were in the neighborhood today and decided to stop by. We barely squeaked by before they closed at 2pm. Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Man oh man, what a hidden gem. Not only was the food excellent but they have great service. On our way to Riverside from Palmdale we decided to check out Rick's. We have driven past it hundreds of times and never stopped (kicking myself) Ugh! I've been missing out. The pancakes are fluffy and melt in your mouth. The bacon was extra crispy just like I like it. We also had the bread pudding French toast which was a real treat. They serve farmer bros coffee which is one of my favorites and flavored creamer. My husband has the cream of wheat which he really enjoyed. The best part had to be the excellent service. Driving all morning to and from Lancaster from San Berdoo. Found this place on a lark. Stopped in, and I quickly found out I was glad I did. My breakfasrt burger on Easter was the crapest of the large family group gathering. I took this order because I noticed It was servesly short coming. This was as if the cook was lazy! We ordered our fries to be exatra crispy. Well the short coming of my buger order had hardly any fries, and not the declared meat weight, so extra tomatoes was used to fill in on my burger. The onion was scimpy. Shame, Shame When one's dad is 90 years old and one does not want to complain to much because one's dad is 90 years old. They have the best service. I would give higher stars but I ordered a dinner salad, and it was starting to turn brown. So I picked the brown parts out. Everything else was great. This review is based on a few visits. We visited a few times on weekends and service and portions were exceptional. The specials like eggs benny are on point though they skimp a bit on Hollandaise and usually say it is because they are busy. (It is your special, OWN IT) Hats off to the servers, they rawk. I either get the standard size and tasting breakfast burrito with the delicious fresh and hot pico or a skillet. They keep your coffee filled and don't seem insincere. However, the last visit was on a Monday and we did not see the owners and the food quality and portion suffered immensely. I ordered the skillet this time with over easy eggs as did my son and our eggs were OVER HARD. We actually got rumbly tummies after eating there that day. There was such a stark difference in the food taste and quality when the owners were there that we have considered never returning as we paid the usual $45 for breakfast plus a $15 tip. We like supporting small business but we spend a lot to do that and expect getting our money worth. All it takes is one day. Gotta have your peeps on point when you're gone. read more

This is a review primarily for the staff. My little brother and I ended up stranded in the snow last week and I wandered over there the next morning to grab coffee and use their bathroom. I only remember two girls working the spot but they were so sweet and let me fill up my nalgene bottles with a ton of hot water and only charged me the price of one cup of tea. Their cinnamon rolls were so good too! Not sure if they'll ever read this but thank you guys! read more

Rick has been serving up the Americana with precision for years. The customer service is off the charts and Rick pays attention to EVERY detail. His restaurant is clean, friendly, and Rick makes an effort to remember every customer by first name when returning for a second round of excellent cafe style food. As a bar and restaurant consultant, I find Rick's to be operating at near perfection (nobody is perfect, right?). Rick scores in the high 90's with an A+ for EXCEEDING CUSTOMERS EXPECTATIONS!!!! A friend of mine treated me to breakfast at Rick's a few weeks ago.. The service and the food were great! The waitresses at Rick's are cute and friendly and do a great job of greeting you as soon as you walk in the door. Rick runs this place like a well oiled machine. I enjoyed watching his interaction with the staff, as well as customers (many of which he knows by name). The food was great and you get plenty of it.. She recommended the jalapeno ranch which ended up being really good. Rick was up behind the register when we were there, which is good to see given his name is on the building.
