They used to be great. I recommended them to everybody. But over the last couple years I've had to take my RV back because it wasn't fixed right. You used to work directly with the owner but it seems he has given the responsibility to others. There is a person there named James who has very poor people skills. I find him rude and and not helpful. They used to be so good that I drove over 60 miles one way to get there because I knew that my RV would be fixed right the first time and I would be treated respectfully. Such a great bunch of folks here. I always have a particular liking for family owned businesses. When you first walk in it's a bit deceiving how much there is to this place. The facility itself is large with multiple bays to accommodate a variety of RV needs. I went there to buy a portable braking unit and ended up having them install an electrical brake wiring harness for my Jeep. The job was well done - a nice clean install as they say! I write reviews for work, and I don't have the ambition to spend my personal time on them. However, my experience at Rick's Trailer Supply compels me to do just that. I wanted to give this a one-star rating, but usually those ratings come from people angry with a single issue, and are easily discredited and/or lacking foundation. That's the ONLY reason for the second star. On to my experience: When I got there, I immediately liked the location: everything looked well kept, modern, and professional. Open the front door: from the first time I spoke with either Tom or Brian, I never got the feedback of 'how do we best tackle your project', but more of 'how much are you going to generate for the business'. Since the shop was recommended, I went against my gut instinct, and gave them the job to install an LP tank including LP plumbing to a stove and portable heater, and to correct a problem with a previously installed compressed air system. I expected to talk to their mechanic to bounce off ideas, but they are very protective of their service personnel (reasons unknown), and since I am new to the RV world, I thought they simply knew their stuff and my Sprinter was in good hands. After a 2 day delay with no proactive updates (I had to chase them for info, with several phone calls not being returned, to finally find out that a mechanic 'had doctor appointments' and that's why my project got delayed) - 2 days in a row. Let's pretend I believe that story. Job completed: the first thing I noticed was the gas line inside the living compartment. I had marked a spot on the wall where I wanted my 2 quick-connects, and it never crossed my mind that the line would not be installed inside the wall. But the hose came in through the floor and right up the wall to the spot I marked. - A little bit of a ghetto look I had not anticipated. Positive: the LP tank installation and air tank installation are solid. Moving on: Tested the stove the day after picking up my van: one of the quick-connects didn't work. A damaged fitting, with the replacement already next to it in a box, - apparently someone dropped the ball, and nobody had performed a function test. Back to the shop, repaired. More time spent on the freeway... A couple of days later I noticed that my compressed air tank had gone flat. After a few minutes under the van, I found a cracked T-connector. Rather than spending another 3 hours for the round trip to, and waiting time at the shop, I replaced it myself. Since I had a leaking system to begin with, and it was their task to overhaul the installation, this is not acceptable. I still hadn't learned my lesson, and had a few more projects on my to-do list: mainly an inverter, shore power, water heater, outside shower, etc... - I requested an estimate. This is where it gets hilarious: after I suggested that I would supply a couple of my own parts (water heater, inverter), I was told that they would have to charge me an extra $130 each for the installation, because they needed to maintain a certain profit margin with their location in South Orange County. Say what?!? By this logic you'd have to pay extra if you just have a repair that doesn't require any parts. Imagine going to a car wash and you get charged extra because you already have an air freshener... - after that, I gladly spent over 4k in conversion work (labor alone) somewhere else. Comedic footnote: after I suggested that he must have been joking with the $260 add-on (naturally I was already done with Rick's at this point), owner Tom suggested I might be better served elsewhere: - he was right. This could be a potentially good service center, but be prepared to pay top rate mechanic rates and get apprentice workmanship, and be treated as a number, not as a client. read more

Made appt to have dish installed and add 4 6v batteries along with adding a solar panel. They did a few other minor things as well. Brian was easy to talk too, polite and answered all my questions. They kept in constant contact with me while my 5th wheel was there etc. Little pricey and could have saved a few hundred bucks but I'd rather pay a little more for great service and quick turn around. read more

Without a doubt the best RV shop in SoCal. I've experienced them all! I took my 45' Entegra Cornerstone there 3.21.17 for some water heater work that needed to be done as a result of a Technical Service Bulletin. Ricks was the only authorized service dealer in SoCal for Aqua Hot Systems. So for me, it was a stroke of luck I found these guys. A great bunch of people who basically met me at front door, immediately took coach into their service yard and began the work. They called me with updates and by noon the same day, they were finished. Ricks is much much more than a "trailer supply" business. They are a Class A service shop for RV's. They have a fantastic supply store on-site with everything you could possibly need. Their service bays are so clean you could eat off the floors. The owners and their people couldn't have been nicer. Their shop is tucked away on the top of a hill in San Clemente, not the easiest place to get to from Huntington Beach. It's in a newer building with plenty of area and parking to maneuver my 45' RV. I'm paranoid about the trailer because every summer we drive all over the Western USA and into Canada too. I always bring the trailer into Rick's for a check up around this time each year. They have a nice store and large workshop, I brought my pop up trailer in to get the lift system fixed, and also for general service/minor fixes. They sourced a difficult to find part for my trailer which had to be shipped from the mid west. They fixed my problem without any trouble, and were up front early about the cost of the part and labor charges, which seemed very reasonable. Rick's Trailer Supply serviced my Class A diesel pusher. They serviced the engine and on-board generator and so much more, including adding air (120psi) to the 22.5 size tires mounted on the rig. They were quick to get it done, and to get it done right! I live in North San Diego County and found this location to be convenient. Found the price to competitively fair. And the staff to be honest and trustworthy. And to conclude, they have a retail area of their office for new and up-to-date RV parts and fixtures such as LED bulbs, and other miscellaneous camping/ RV'g items. read more

We just purchased a new travel trailer and I went to this business to purchase a good deal of supplies to outfit the trailer. When I walked in the place was empty and an employee walked out from the back. He was not wearing a mask and I had to ask him to keep some distance. I wasn't looking to get into a mask debate. I let him know that my wife is a cancer patient and immune compromised and asked him if he could please wear a mask. He replied that he didn't even have one. He went on to say that they are anti mask and that most of their customers thank them for not wearing a mask. I left and will never return. read more

She absolutely disrespected me as a customer and honestly I found it a little racist the way she would not talk to me or even look at me. Not to mention her terrible attitude towards customer service. I would rather drive to another place than ever give them my business. I'm appalled by the way I was treated there today. In the interest of full disclosure this review dates back to 2011. I brought my Lance camper to Ricks for a regular maintenance on the roof, at which it was brought to my attention that a bracket which suspends my Fantastic Fan had broken. I had them repair the bracket and I thought all was well. When I got home I took a look at the fan and tested it, only to realize the fan is, now, not working at all. My camper was 2 years old, and had been regularly maintained, by myself and by Rick's. I immediately called them back, spoke with Tom personally, and notified them of the problem. Tom instantly became confrontational, rude, and insisted he'd fix the problem, but never to bring anything back to him. I was floored by his lack of customer service, and his unwillingness to, at very least, consider the idea that his staff might have something to do with the fan not working. Especially, given the fact that it worked before I delivered the camper, and didn't work when I received it back. Having owned a local business in San Clemente for 18 years, I couldn't believe anyone in business would treat their customer in this manner. It was especially shocking considering this was my second RV I had his shop work on, I had never had a problem before, and the fact I bought several other items from his showroom. In short, I was hugely disappointed. Fast forward 5 years. I thought I'd try Rick's out again, hoping that was an isolated event. I brought my RV in for furnace maintenance and repair. I had disassembled the furnace because I had to replace some hoses, so it was already accessible and ready for servicing. Long story short, when i got the RV back, they didn't even bother to reassemble the furnace. I suppose I never emphatically stated i'd like it done, but I'll admit, I assumed they'd automatically reassemble, or at very least ask me if I'd like it done. Again, I called them, and again, I received hostility and an unwillingness to understand the position of their paying customer. I'll never go back, and I'd never recommend them to anyone. read more

Their attitude has always been pleasant, informative and their schedules realistic. One weekend on a return trip from Borrego Springs, we had a blow out on a trailer tire that tore up the side of the rig before we got it stopped. After getting it moveable, Tom waited for us to arrive at their office well after closing time on a Friday evening so we could have our rig repaired without having to come all the way home and then back on Monday.
