Came in to get a quote for roof rack. Too many choices online and it's not very straightforward when it comes to the adapter kits. Orion was really nice and helped me find the right product for my budget. He patiently answered all my dumb questions (price matching, why they don't carry other brands like Amazon cheapies, how long it would take if I built the crossbars myself and did the install, etc). Then I went online to find their price match policy. Tried to call the store but nobody picked up. (Understandable since they're always so busy. I was surprised how many people were in the store on Tuesday at 2pm.) Had the bright idea to text to the phone number that sent me the quote. Voilà! Marty responded and I proceeded to send links of where I saw the items for less. He got back to me a few hours later and I got my discount! A week later got the text my product arrived. I texted them back for appointment time since I figured they might be busy with a customer. Jon replied a short bit later. When I came in for the install they had already pre-built my crossbars so actual installation took less than half hour. Jon was there that day and helped me check in, give me the run down on how to remove / reinstall the rack, lifetime warranty and lifetime tune up. So quick update to my review. About 6 weeks ago I came into RnR a few minutes before they were closing and looked to price out a complex project for my Ford Bronco and spoke to John. He did a great job helping me figure out two solutions for storage and for a hitch bike rack. On a Bronco, similar to a Wrangler, the spare tire is mounted to the back door and it protrudes. So if you have a hitch you need some sort of extender in order for it to fit with the spare tire on the rear door. Furthermore, if you want access to the trunk then you need a system that swivels out of the way. John helped me pick and price out: - pivot vtwo swinging hitch mount - Thule transporter box - kuat sherpa bike rack And some other locking accessories We had to order a few pieces because they were on back order. The pieces came in this week and I was scheduled for an install tomorrow. I admittedly made a mistake buying from another competing store today. I was walking by heading to a different store, popped in and talked to a salesperson and we got to talking and he offered to beat RnRs price. When I called RnR they price matched but I got greedy, impatient, foolish and made a mistake and bought from the other store. I would rate myself 1 star for wasting Johns time at RnR. He was a helpful dude who deserved my business - my bad. I want to commend their team for going above and beyond. I also want to apologize for not buying from them on this project. I will patronize them going forward as I have in the past in previous projects. The customer isn't always right- sorry fellas. This one is definitely on me. Still highly recommend Rack n Road for exceptional service, competitive prices and great selection. Even though I chose a different shop for this project, you earned my business for life. I called a little over 2 months ago and asked how much it would cost to remove the RackNRoad bike hitch from my car. The person I spoke to said nothing and that I don't need an appointment. So this morning I drove there. The guy behind the counter said he was new and had to check with the mechanic. The mechanic came out, said those are hard to take off and he estimated it would take him 3 hours to do so $199. I said forget it. I called a body shop I've had work on my car before and asked if they could remove it. They said bring it down and we'll see. They looked at it and said one hour and $180. I said ok. I called everywhere to get these so called "Mighty Mounts" to mount my Yakima Snowboard Mounts onto my cars roof racks. REI doesnt have it, Dicks Sporting doesn't have it, (2) Snowboard Rental shops doesnt have it, and even on the Yakima website was oit of stock too! Fyi, im leaving for Mammoth in 3 days! Luckily, i was referred to Rack N Road, and this place is a life saver. They are also extremely helpful and customer service is paramount here too. Shaun and Jason are the best in the business! I had an old Yakima rack/towers from 2015 that was out dated and just overall old. I came here to see if I can get new parts for it but turned out they don't make the parts i needed anymore, which made sense because it's a rack from 2015. My crossbars were so old that the black vinyl was tearing and they recommended I get new ones with new towers. Mind you that I'm heading out to Big Bear the next morning, so I needed this rack desperately to put 4 snowboards on my car. I asked Shuan if I can get something that wasn't gonna break my bank account , so luckily they had used parts in stock. They saved me a couple hundred dollars and super cool dudes to talk to. PROS: - The customer service here is excellent. - The two guys working Sundays did an install of a tow hitch on my RAV4. It came out fantastic. - Also purchased a Yakima bike rack. Compared the price on Amazon and it was the same. So they don't upcharge their products. - They explained how to use and install the bike rack - There was no creaking or squeaking so far coming from the tow hitch. CONS: - I do wish there was a seating area or someplace to sit down while you wait for your install. FINAL THOUGHTS: - If you need a professionally installed tow hitch, this is the place to get it done. PRO-TIP: - Just keep in mind, which came as a surprise to me, this place is in a semi ghetto area of Costa Mesa. Stumbled upon Rack n Road looking for a hitch for my Mini. Yes, Mini. Reached out to them as a recommended installer for the hitch and Jon responded right away. Probably best selection of racks that I have seen. Way better than REI. Knowledgeable staff, friendly service both in store and installation. Made installation appointment and started on time and finished early. Car put back together nicely and install was perfect. Boy have I been waiting to write this review! I contacted Rack & Road first thing on Monday morning when they opened and was assisted by a very attentive customer rep, Marty. I contacted for a replacement piece to my base rack. He was initially very helpful, he even let me send a photo of the piece I needed to his personal number. He said he would give me a call at the end of the day, never heard back so I called before they closed. No record of my conversation in the AM. I call back in the morning on Tuesday, Marty said he emailed the distributor and would call today to get an answer. It is now Friday and I have received a call back, asking for my proof of purchase. Then saying I can just send everything to the distributor and they will take it from here. If I knew I would be contacting the distributor's customer service myself to get my answer, I would've really appreciated this answer on MONDAY. Thanks for the help! read more

Went in looking for a bike rack and after quite a bit of trial and error with a few back and forth trips, I finally got one that worked. Not too sure why I wasn't recommended the one that worked in the first place since I have large and heavy e bikes. I wonder if there was more of a commission incentive to push the others on me. I will never know. I am happy with my bike rack but the process that I had to go through really didn't sit well with me. I bought and returned two racks before getting the right one and they had the make and model of my vehicle and ebikes so I feel there should not have been so much room for error. read more
