    Bug in my dipping sauce

I would never order from here again! I ordered drunken noodles, which were incredibly greasy and not well seasoned. Furthermore, I got egg rolls, and as you can see there was a bug in my dipping sauce. Absolutely disgusting.

Don't be fooled by my 4 star review...Ricky's Thai was excellent, but I reserve 5 stars for truly exceptional dining experiences. We had never been to any of the Ricky's Thai locations but have heard great things so we went to the Newly opened Bernardsville location last night. The staff warmly welcomed us and everyone was very friendly. The decor was bright and comforting and not overly ornate which we really liked. We had 4 dishes and each one was very good. 2 of the dishes are Chef Ricky's Signature dishes. The appetizer called Honey Puffs (signature dish) were tender and buttery Puff Pastry filled with Crab and Mushrooms and beautifully pleated served over a delicious Lobster based Curry sauce. We also tried the Nom Tok Beef Salad that really hit the mark. An item of note on this dish is one of the key ingredients is Toasted Rice. I'm used to the toasted rice being more of a powder but here it was a bit more coarse and my girlfriend opted out of trying it when she heard me crunching down on it to protect some recent dental work she had done. I must say I very much prefer the powder form. Next we had 2 entrees: A very well balanced Pad See Ew with Tender beef. The noodles were intact and not broken into little pieces. The second signature dish we had was the Tamarind Duck. Perfectly symmetrical thick slices of boneless Duck breast coated in (I'm assuming) Rice flour and individually fried to a wonderful crisp. They were served on a bed of Crispy Rice noodles (same noodles used in a Mee Krob) with a sweet and tangy Tamarind sauce. This was a delicious, well thought out dish! We are so happy that there are 2 locations within 15-20 minutes in either direction from where we live in Warren and we will be back to try more dishes!

    Drunken Noodle (Pad Kee Mao)

Loved the food at Ricky's Thai. The Drunken noodles ( pad kee mao) was great, w chicken and shrimp and a bit spicy. I love flat wide rice noodles and these were cooked perfectly. We also had Tamarind (crispy boneless) duck with rice. Both dishes were delicious and we even had leftovers since big portions. I think this is my fave Thai in the area. Very friendly service and BYOB.

We tried about 5-6 places within 45 min, and these are hands down the best. For us having less fat & more pork is a big deal. The sauce is so sweet & delicious! We like the ramen bowls so much. I also LOVE the Oyako rice bowls - I think they make it with a piece of heaven & it is blessed by an angel. As if that isn't enough, their wide assortment of bubble teas is good for a restaurant (as opposed to a bubble tea store). Their Thai ice tea is my fav, but my kids get all different kinds & with boba or lychee. They folks who work here seem to love & enjoy what they do. They are pragmatic & don't expect extremely doting waiters or anything. Do yourself a favor & enjoy this piece of relaxing delicious heaven.

We usually dine in, and we see a steady influx of to-go orders being picked up. There are plenty of tables on a week night. We love their spring rolls, perfectly crisp and warm. My typical order is the Queen ramen because of how tender and flavorful the pork is, but recently I've been loving the Chicken Coconut Green Curry ramen- perfectly spicy! My boyfriend's standard order is the Spicy Miso ramen, but he asks for pork instead of chicken. The pork is just too good! Their brown sugar milk tea is just sweet enough, and we look forward to having it after every meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Let me get one thing straight. Shan Shan Noodles doesn't care about this review. They don't care if…read moreyou come. Why? Because they are busy AF. They are buzzing. We went for the first time Sunday at like 3pm? Full. Take out orders flying out the door. It's a cute place. Standard strip mall aesthetic. But they do have a window where you can see them hand pulling the noodles. That's right, hand pulling the noodles which is the main attraction. The food is from the North Western part of China near Pakistan so there are some Indian influences like their Cumin lamb and pulled noodles one of their most popular dishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. With my vegetarian wife who as usual ruins everything by insisting we order vegetarian appetizers. Scallion pancakes were delicious. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. They also own the bakery a few doors down. Very light chiffon style cakes. Not too sweet. Chocolate Oreo cake. I asked if that was very traditional. Oh how we laughed at my hilarious joke.

Chinese lamb burger sounded really crunchy but after bitting into it, it's not as crunchy as I was expecting. The bread soaked up the flavor and sauce which did make the bread soggy. Overall, the flavor and spices of the lamb is much stronger than other places I've tried. The cumin lamb noodles has a very nice chewy to it. The flavor is similar to the burger. The house special hand-pulled noodles has a simple and tasty beef broth.

It died down a little bit after 730 but still it gets quite good business. The chips you get when you sit down were a little stale. I don't really eat that stuff anyway. On the bright side, the sweet and sour sauce it came with was very good and the wasabi mustard had a huge kick. The soup dumplings were legit. As good as you will find in Edison. $12.25 for 6. A little bit pricier than Edison but you pay for the fact that you can have it in this area. The filet mignon with spicy pepper sauce was pretty good. Portion size is in the middle. Not too generous nor skimpy. It wasn't spicy. It came with delicious mushrooms and baby bok choy. The black pepper sauce was delicious. Similarly the pepper steak with onions was also mid on portion size and amount of meat they give you. It came with delicious chopped peppers and onions as well. Good flavor. Both of these steak dishes came with a complimentary bowl of rice. The pot of tea was also complimentary. It was pretty good tea. The service was great. Very friendly staff and they changed our plates after the soup dumpling appetizer. Sprite was only $2 and a bottle of san pelligrino $3. Good place with a strong loyal customer base.
