I ordered the chicken Pad Thai and a Thai iced tea, and the next day, I got the beef Pad See Ew and the Thai iced coffee. The Pad Thai was my favorite! The noodles had a good texture, and the flavor was great. The Pad See Ew noodles were a little overcooked, so they started sticking together. The flavor was good, but the texture was a little off. While I haven't been to this location in a while it seems perhaps there are different owners? The food was okay but not a French Thai as I had last time in Somerville. Things had a distinctly different flavor. While tasty it was not Thai (ine of my favorite cuisines). In addition, they need to spend a bit of time and money to make small renovations to the space. Little holes in the faux finished walls, bathrooms had a lot of rough issues that needed repair & even entry way walls needed spackle & paint. It's fried soft shell crab topped with mango (had a bit of a ginger flavor in the mango), bell peppers, pineapple, some greens, and Thai vinaigrette. I can no longer recommend this restaurant, and honestly, I'd suggest saving your hundred dollars and dining elsewhere. We've been loyal customers for several years, but ever since the previous manager left, the quality has gone steadily downhill. The food now tastes noticeably different--and unfortunately, not in a good way--each time we've given it another chance. To make matters worse, the new manager has not been accommodating to the requests we've always had honored before. It's disappointing to see such a decline. read more

I've lived in the area my whole life and had no idea Origin has been around for so many years. We really enjoyed sitting in the outdoor space on a summer night; the indoors looked nicely decorated but much darker. Appetizers: curry puffs were disappointing - the pastry was great but the filling was light and did not have much curry flavor at all. The Vietnamese jumperial rolls were super fresh and delicious. Entrees: pad Thai with shrimp was delicious and a very generous portion. The green curry (with fried tofu) was one of the best I've had in a long time. There were tons of veggies - and they weren't just the random frozen mixed vegetables, either! The service was great. They were very attentive and friendly. The food came out fairly quickly for our large party. Everyone from the owners to the waitresses were awesome. We had a fixed menu for our large party that included soup, salad, entree and dessert. The salad was delicious and fresh. We had a choice of 3 different soups, I had gone for a coconut chicken soup that was refreshing and slightly citrusy. My entree was the garlic salmon which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was also covered in chopped shrimp and served with a side of white rice. Everything was superb. The menu had Thai dishes with a French influence. The service was appreciated. I had the sautéed monkfish ($25). It was prepared with porcini mushroom sauce, braised pearl onions, greens and mashed potatoes. I thought there was a lack of fish present. The dish as a whole was somewhat plain. The fish was also inconsistent in reference to the texture. Some parts were hard while others were tender and soft. The mashed potatoes were probably the best component of the meal. Will I go back? Came here recently for lunch with a friend and it was OK. The chicken dish was a very small portion and it was underwhelming. An hour and a half later I was hungry. I'm going to say that dinner may be a better option but I haven't gone there for dinner yet. I would also try the noodle dishes for lunch because those dishes looked way better from what I saw at other tables. But if you're trying to stay more low-carb, than be prepared to be hungry.
