My parents live in North Durham and for years we have struggled to get good pizza. The Domino's by their house is the worst ever, and we don't like other places we've tried. When visiting them a few months ago, we suggested trying "that place right around the corner" and everyone loved it! I can't believe it took us this long to find. Pretty poor first experience. The guy at the counter wasn't very nice. So I thought maybe it was a NY pizza experience instead of the down south hospitality I'm accustomed to. But after telling me I couldn't order pizza slices because everything is made fresh to order I received a chicken parmigiana that was so small, fried too hard and extremely dry. Me and my family just moved to the area, and was hoping to make this our pizza spot. Definitely not the case. The guy that took my order was very nice, and pleasant and so was the delivery man and that's THE ONLY reason why they r getting two stars. Let me begin with my Alfredo chicken pasta, the noodles were over cooked, next to no sauce, charged 4 bucks for to add black olives and mushrooms, which there was barely any of those. The mushrooms tasted very bad had to pick the few I had out of the dish, then finally the chicken was over cooked and hard. The garlic knots, were burnt. The sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste. The salad, about half had brown lettuce, and croutons were soggy. The fries I got for my daughter were absolutely discusting, they were over cooked and soggy. NOT a good place to spend 37.00 plus a 5.00 tip. read more

Rude workers. Being located in a demographically diverse city, you'd think restaurants would have some respect. The workers, very obviously, made fun of my family's ethnic accent. Ordered a Roma pizza, wings and drink. Delivery took about 45 minutes and I live quite close. I got a different pizza than the one I ordered (spinach, tomato, onion and mushroom instead of the Roma. It was good but not what I ordered. read more

The pizza is pretty good but I find the sauce to be bland. I'm not a fan of their spaghetti dishes because the pasta is always WAY over cooked. There house salad is good but their grilled chicken salad is like minced chicken salad. Not bad but not what you expect for grilled chicken salad. I appreciate all kinds of 'pizzas' from Chicago style, to NY style, St. Louis style, New Haven clam pies to the so called artisan styles from brick wood fired ovens. This is a classic New York pizzeria, and of the NY style Pizzas in the Triangle it's the best i've found. If you like crust that's thin enough that you fold in half to devour its greatness while not being so thin that is breaks like a cracker, this is the place for you. Want an oil soaked deep dish or doughy crust topped with a thick layer of 'cheese?' Well this probably won't be your spot... The owner/operator, Ricky, is a stickler for his stuff. We've been trying to find good pizza around north of Durham and it seems like we finally did it. I split one with my husband so we had half pepperoni and half hawaiian and it was delicious. Ok first I understand that ordering food at 9:48pm when a place closes at 10 (in all fairness I didn't realize they closed then) is not so cool but you're open until 10! My husband called for some food, after being asked his number and address confirmed the next thing said was "man why you calling so late". My husband said "I'm sorry I thought you were still open and the guy on the line said "yeah we're hoping to shut down". Ok I get it, Friday night, you want to go but still you're open until 10pm and I don't think it's your call to deny business and money. Based on his reaction we said "no thank you, based on that greeting we're all set" and the guy had the nerve to say "what do you mean, what greeting". Sorry we bothered you with our order. Poor service by the owner himself. He was rude to my children and we will never return. The ceasar's salad and dressing were horrible and the Stromboli was burned. The atmosphere was dark and dirty. Order delivery at 6:18. Called at 7:30 was told "it's coming". Waited another 20 minutes - I live less than 10 minutes away and was treated to a burnt Stromboli, and a warm cold Italian sub, cold fries all to the tune of $40. I used to like this place but the quality of the food and customer service has gone way downhill. Save your money. read more

Ricky's is the best italian fast food with delivery in N Durham. Given the unfortunate fact that N Durham has very little great restaurants - this helps to make Ricky's stand out. Their pizza is excellent but even better is their subs, Stromboli, pasta dishes (we've had lasagne and spaghetti with meatballs) and salads. Plus they deliver!! The marinara sauces are loaded with garlic and spices with lots of flavor. The veggie Stromboli had lots of mozzarella cheese, spinach, artichoke, and feta. It wasn't all bread. read more

This is the second pizza I've gotten from Ricky's (in 3 years, so that should give you an idea of how fantastic it is). The first was a Primaveria and the second was a Roma Spinach pizza. Both times, the pizza was not seasoned well - it needed a lot more salt. And I don't go overboard with the salt. The second pizza, two large slices were badly burned, where you couldn't eat them. We were starving, so we ate the rest and did not return the pizza. You'd think they would check this before they put it in the box - oh wait, maybe they did! And when my wife went to pick up the pizza, the person at the register hit on her! For 17 dollars, the size of the pizza is not the best value. The pizza iis pretty good, much better than 'fast food' pizze. But Ricky's needs to clean up their act before they advance to any sort of excellence., I would recommend Randy's pizza over Ricky's pizza any day. And at Randy's, for 22 dollars you can get a supreme pizza that is absolutely outstanding. I;'ll admit, that is pricey, but it probably feeds six people and its a special treat when you want the top of the line. read more

Love Rickys Pizza! A thousand times better than any chain TRUE NY PIZZA. We order it for our office frequently and it is everyone's favorite. I cant even order chain pizza anymore because they get mad at me for not getting Rickys. Salads are also very good! We have had the subs once and liked those too. read more

The pizza is good but overpriced. we always get delivery and 95% of the time they screw the order up or forget several items. once we saw the delivery driver pull up and toss a lit cigarette out of his car into a pile of dry leaves in our yard! I don't order delivery from there anymore because of the price and screw ups but my roommate still does. I would imagine the pizza would be better for dine in since it take so long for delivery it's never warm. We live 10 minutes away but typically it takes an hour to get the pizza!
