Best pastelitos ever!!! I live in Kendall but when I'm craving pastelitos fresh out of the oven I drive to Rico bakery even though is an hour away. My favorite is the cheese and meat pastelitos once I eat one I want more... Desserts are also delicious. Chocolate mousse, tiramisu, flan are great!!! Besides pastelitos and desserts they have great platters for bdays or special occasions. I went there for Christmas I took home a pork and ham made there with pastelitos party platters and my family was delightful to have such amazing food coming from a bakery. I recommend Rico bakery to everyone... I never get bored because like I can have their traditional pastelitos and desserts... I have lunch here at least once or twice a week. Their pan con bistec is really good! Also their breakfast and pastries. Really great bakery with employees that go above and beyond. They are super quick attending customers, prices are great and I've never had any type of inconvenience. read more

Friendly, helpful staff. Dulce de leche birthday cake was pretty but very, very dry. Very disappointing :(. Tray of mixed pastries hard as a rock. Bocaditos were very good. Probably ok for breakfast type items but pass for special occasions. read more

I feel terrible about writing this to the place I called almost home. I used to have breakfast here every day!!! I would call and they will have it ready for me in no time. What happened? They recently changed owners and the quality has decreased while prices went up considerably. No good egg cheese and ham sandwiches anymore. They gave me a sad looking sandwich that I had to eat to avoid trashing it. Also, in a separate day I quickly stopped to get a Pastelito de queso and the worst one, the guy serving there, served it to me. If you want to continue having customers coming in, the loyal ones, you better improve some quality and pricing issues in your business. I am so disgusted I will doubt to stop by again. :/ They even doubled prices for most of the stuff. I will be very specific about recommending it, I don't want people to think they are blindly good as they were in the past. UPDATE: After I wrote this review. I gave the bakery another chance and to my surprise. The owner told an employee to not serve me because I wrote such review. Or that I could get my food, if I changed my review. Haven't ever being exposed to this much amount of pettiness. It was sad that instead of recognizing that they could do something better and win a customer again, they'd rather push it to leave for good. This little bakery is an absolute gem stone! The prices are great and the quality and quantity of the pastries and breads are outstanding. My only little issue is that one of the ladies who serves behind the counter does not speak English (Spanish only) and she tends to be a little rude to those who are unable to communicate with her in Spanish... she refuses to even attempt to take your order if you try (at least that's been the experience of myself as well as a few of my friends) That minor issue aside, the items served here are phenomenal! My favorite has to be the chocolate chip cake. It's so rich and decadent. Their pastries are perfect for breakfast, lunch or even just as a snack and their breads seem to be baked fresh everyday. It's also a nice place to get a little cup of Cuban coffee and a pressed sandwich. Everything there is always fresh, delicious and so pretty to look at. The place is always kept clean and they accept cash as well as card. I try to go at least once a week to get my fix of Cuban delights and sweet stuff and I highly recommend you give this place a chance. I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

If you go, expect delays and lack of common sense, so be patient with the employees and other clients there. I finally had the chance to stop in and wow, what a treat! I picked up a couple of small chocolate cakes, empanadas, and a cafecito. It cost me less than $10! The empanadas were huge! They chicken was moist and well seasoned. The cakes were delicious and the cafecito rocked my world. They now have a lifetime customer. This is a great neighborhood gem. read more

I got the Groupon and tried there pastelillos de guava, carne, coconut. They are friendly and give great service. The also have empanadas, fresh breads and cakes. The Cuban coffee and fresh OJ. Definitely have the best bakery in the neighborhood!! Must try. read more

3.5 cuban bakeries are quite competitive, and this place does well. only problem with the tres leches cake here is that the slightly torched whipped cream on top really was at least half the cake. so you had to really dig down and the ratio was off. also the sugar level was really high, also as evidenced by the creme brulee with so much sugar on top. read more

First time going to this bakery for Cuban pastries. I knew about it from Groupon after seeing a half-off deal from there. It's in a plaza with a small parking lot in front. The first time I went there the lot was full and a car was leaving so I got a space luckily. The atmosphere here feels shady and ghetto though because there's always these Hispanic old men hanging around the front of the plaza near the bakery. I'm keen to think they're peddling drugs there or something, seeing how they're just standing around not really socializing much. The bakery itself felt really clean. I went to the bakery around 10:30am and it wasn't crowded at all, just one customer was inside and two ladies behind the counter helping out. The lady that helped me out spoke good English which I worry about when shopping at Cuban bakeries. I was leaving on a trip to Canada later that day and wanted to bring some local Cuban pastries for my hosts as a present. I took $30 worth of pastries home and had my dad split some for the family to try out. My dad was kind of complaining that there's a pastry place around the corner and why I had to drive so far (15-20 min drive) to that particular pastry place and waste gas, etc. Later that night when I got to Canada and called home to tell him I got there safely, he told me the pastries tasted SO GOOD and went on to further detail why he thinks the pastry was good (my dad's a chef). Something about using milk to make the flaky layer or something like that. After a three hour flight and one hour of baggage claim and drive to the house, I presented the pastries to my friend host. I felt full but decided to sit down and eat the pastries with her. The aroma was still there after so many hours (I think it was 4 or 5pm by then). We shared half a piece of each type of pastry; the more I ate my appetite seem to open up to want to try more. At the time, I didn't feel like I ate anything spectacularly good but the pastries were definitely not bad. They were well made and tasted pretty palatable. But the next morning, we heated up the leftover pastries in the oven for breakfast and they tasted SO GOOD! I don't know if I was just hungry or what but I wanted to eat more of it. My friend host was gobbling the pastries up too. I brought a huge box of 4 to 5 different pastries with 4 pieces of each type and we finished it up in 2 days. I had another Groupon for the party package which feeds about 25 people. You need to order this party package in advance because they need time to make the cake and pastries. I was a newbie so I didn't know this and went there expecting to get it the same day but I was told to pick it up the next day. The cake didn't taste that good; my mom said it tasted like it was made with nail polish as one of the main ingredients which I later can attest to, but I have a feeling this is how Cuban cakes must taste like. The pastries were miniature/bite-size versions of their full-size counterparts. The pastries tasted good as usual. And to further rave the pastries, I consider my older sister to be the "pastry expert" of the house because she's the first one to introduce us to Cuban pastries and she's usually the one buying it home to eat. My mom brought some pastries over for her to try and she later asked me where I bought the pastries because they tasted so good. She said something about how it retains its crispness even after leaving it out for a few days. With all these people raving, it's hard not to give this place five stars. read more

Service is the WORST at this place. They make promises they can't keep. Ordered a soccer themed cake they said they could make. Charged me an exaggeration and in the end it ended up being a printed stick on. Not what I ordered. I gave them a chance. Placed an order for a regular chocolate cake the day before. They promised a certain time it would be ready. We get them and had to wait 40 minutes for it. And they gave a cake we didn't even order! Rushed horrible cake for same price read more
