Ricotta is a Kosher Pizza and bakery. It's a small restaurant that sells pizza, bakery goods, Israeli breakfast, Israeli foods, Shakshuka, and other Israeli foods. On my way home out of New Haven I decided to stop by. The store was about to close in a hour so they didn't have as much pastries out but I will come back for another visit. The store was small and very clean. My daughter got a Chocolate Rugalach and she said it tasted pretty good. The staff were really welcoming and I would definitely have to come back to taste the Israeli food.

I was walking to my car when Ricotta caught my eye! I am so so glad that I stopped in. It smelled so yummy when I walked in. They offer a variety of pastries, garlic knots, pizza, and salad! Their onion rolls are sooo delicious!! Spicy!! I can't wait to go back. There are a few tables inside and there are a few tables outside!

This place is amazing!! The personal sized pizza pie is great, the crust was not burnt, the sauce was very good too! Really cute seating area too. And great service! The person that helped me was super sweet and answered all my questions. Definitely will be back soon!

Beautiful decor and display. Items were ok. Service was not friendly after we ordered. Pretty but lacks the impact I expected.

Ricotta is a kosher pizzeria and bakery that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in September 2022. It was founded by Israeli-born restaurateurs Yaakov Atia and Nadav Adad. After dropping out of high school at age 14, Adad began pursuing a career in the culinary arts and owned his own restaurant by the time he was 17. He now has over 20 years of cooking experience and opened several restaurants in the northeast including a pizza shop in Lakewood, NJ as well as the Brooklyn-based restaurants Ess & Bentch and Albany Bagel. Although Adad lived in NYC for quite some time, Atia has spent the last several years living in New Haven. The new venture between the two was named "Ricotta" after the Italian cheese byproduct. In keeping with Jewish dietary laws prohibiting the mixing of meat and dairy, the two decided to make the menu strictly vegetarian. In addition to offering Kosher food, the partners also had a goal to make the food healthy. I recently stopped at Ricotta just two weeks after they opened to the public. My son's daycare was having a picnic and I wanted to grab some food for takeout. Although I don't keep Kosher, I am Jewish and enjoy supporting local businesses and fellow Jews. After walking in, I was met by Atia who was manning the cash register. He later introduced me to Adad who was busy working in the kitchen. Both partners were very friendly and appreciative that I came down to check out their new venture. There were several delicious-looking baked goods on display including baguettes, frena bread, croissants, halva, rugelach, and different flavors of babka. After looking over the menu, I decided to order a Plain Cheese Pizza and an order of Falafel Balls served with Tahini. They also offer Bagels, Israeli Breakfast staples, Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan, Shakshuka, Salads, Wraps, Pitas, Hummus Plates, and appetizers. My son and I both enjoyed the food later at the picnic. The next time I stop in at Ricotta, I want to try some of their delicious-looking Garlic Knots!

The food is great but every time I order pickup (I order a few hours in advance) they never have it ready in time. Always ~15 min delay...

I picked spinach, arugula, mushrooms, and their house made queso blanco. It came with a few yummy French-fry-style roasted potatoes and one of their famous dinner rolls, which was multigrain and very hearty. Not cutting edge but all well-made and tasty. The bakery items looked amazing but I was full! So I got a piece of their carrot cake, which other customers were raving about, as well as a vegan gluten-free sunbutter cookie. I very much appreciate that they have outdoor seating! They happen to be very close to a smoke shop, so eating outside they just were a lot of people vaping or smoking as they passed. It's also a particularly hectic corner with people going to the theater or for music show. But I am planning to come back while I'm here and to try something else!

I swear that's why I've always loved tofu! And I'm mostly vegan now the past 28 years, and my mother the past 12. This place is a staple in New Haven and testament to their good food for staying open all these years. When Claire's first opened vegetarian restaurants weren't a thing, and over the years the menu has shifted.. but it's always good. For me it's home cooking style, comfort food.. they have their own style. This place was around before everyone was freaking out about carbs.. thank god! I never leave without a cookie and a muffin for later.. they're the best! I recently got hooked on the Sunbuttter cookie, and also enjoy the Lithuanian coffee cake muffin. Soups and salads come with the classic Claire mini loaf! A delicious buttery(is it vegan? don't know) mini loaf of bread, just as tasty as I remember it from my childhood. Their oat milk Matcha Lattes are creamy and they don't slack on the matcha. The service is always friendly and helpful. The menu accommodates vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free options as well. enjoy!

Luckily I went to their website and found out where their current location is (I also updated the business page so hopefully the new address shows) I had not been to the old location so I cannot speak to it but we were a bit confused when we arrived as there was no sign on the awing of the building. My friend had told me that new location was next to Ricotta Bakery so we went in to ask. We were told that we ordered there and the food would be brought to us next door. Of note you can also order from the Ricotta menu which has bakery and non sushi items We ordered and went to wait for our food which was sent out through a pass through for pick up. The space is large but the decor is very sparce . That being said the food was the star of the show. All of the rolls we order (and we ordered several) were fresh and tasty. We left with full bellies which we doesn't always happen when we go for sushi. So don't let the lack of signage and space decor deter you - it's a great place to visit.

The kani salad was amazing and I could have eaten it all day. The rolls were as delicious as they were beautiful. The chicken dishes were good, but the real star in my opinion was the sushi options. I will order more of that when I make a return trip. Definitely worth the visit!

Although both sandwiches were barely warm -- almost to the point where my husband was considering sending it back to the kitchen. He did not as he didn't want to wait for another sandwich to be brought out. The hand-cut French fries were very good. The coleslaw was okay -- certainly not the best I've had, but far from the worst. They also brought out two types of classic complimentary pickles for the table. Again, they were just okay -- I've definitely had better. One thing to note: the classic half sandwich & cup of soup combo comes with fries, but if you order just a classic sandwich, it does not come with fries, both priced at $17.99. My husband got the cup of lentil soup, which he enjoyed. I ordered the potato salad as a side dish, it was very vinegar-heavy and not really to my taste. I ended up bringing it home and doctoring it up, which made it much better. They had good deli mustard on the table, I asked for Russian dressing since I like that on my pastrami sandwich -- that was good. And of course, you've for to have a Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray or any one of the other Dr Brown flavors. All in all, we enjoyed our lunch. Between the food, the service, and the fact that the place is dated, I'd give it a 3 1/2 stars overall. Free on-site parking is a big parking lot as there are several other stores right in the plaza. I wanted to note that this Deli is dairy free. So no chocolate milk, but you can get a classic egg cream.

This isn't a fancy place--they close early, there are no white tablecloths, no wine list, and the décor leans toward gray veneer booths with red seats. But that's exactly the point. We both had pastrami on fresh, soft rye with great mustard, and it hit the spot completely. The fries were just right too--crispy overall with those smaller, extra-crunchy pieces mixed in. There's something really satisfying about a place like this. Simple, honest food done well. After a full day of work, it made for a relaxed and genuinely enjoyable date night. We'll definitely be back.

We came in before noon on a Sunday and had our choice of tables. Their deli offerings are pretty consistent between stores, with a large double-sided tabloid sized menu. But the service here is just that much better because Marjorie was our server and she treated us like we were her family. As at all Ben's Deli's, you always start with a deep bowl of pickles and a boat of tasty cole slaw (don't be shy if you want a refill). The soup of the day is Chicken a la Reine, which is basically cream of chicken and I love all creamy soups. It comes in a large, wide bowl, but I miss having saltine crackers in my soup. My wife orders the Rachel Panini with pastrami on rye and 2 Ultimate Paninis, one with pastrami & corned beef for me and pastrami & brisket for my son. All the sandwiches are toasted on the panini press and come with a choice of potatoes as a side and Russian dressing. My wife and son go with potato latkes and I go with the thick cut crinkle fries like the Nathan's fries down in Coney Island. Theirs come with apple sauce, which I like to slurp up as dessert. Gotta come back next time to try out the Ben's Deli Dog or maybe a nice Hot Open Brisket sandwich with plenty of gravy.

When my father-in-law spoke with a manager about the wait, the attitude of the service staff seemed to change. The food was later brought to the table in a manner that felt rushed and unprofessional, as if our concerns had become an inconvenience. To make matters worse, my order was incorrect. I ordered a turkey burger with salami, but was served a turkey burger with pastrami instead. I initially thought something looked different, and later confirmed on the receipt that the order had been entered incorrectly. No one checked back to ensure the order was correct, so the mistake went unnoticed until after the meal. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, and delays are understandable when a business is busy. What was most disappointing was the lack of communication, the apparent frustration shown by the staff after we raised a concern, and the overall feeling that customer service was not a priority. We have enjoyed Ben's in the past, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. We hope management will take this feedback constructively and use it as an opportunity to improve both service and communication.
