While planning to have the patio replaced, we had to decide whether to remove & reset 34 y/o a/c unit or replace. The existing unit took up a lot of space on the patio, was very loud and not energy efficient. We called Steve to price out a new one. Steve is Sensational. So we have a 3 level townhouse and the AC had to be placed on the roof oh yes, crazy. We first got a quote from a "big" corporate company and the price was astronomical for a new furnace and AC and they were charging more because they'd have to get a laddervator or crane to get the unit on the roof. Plus they seemed weird about working with an HOA when being a "big" company you would think they would be used to doing business with all sorts of HOAs. So blessed we were to get a referral and second quote from Steve. He owns his own business and WHAT A PROFESSIONAL! I love working with a small business because when I call I talk to Steve. I believe his wife works on the paperwork side, but Steve and crew were the ones who installed our AC unit with a crane. He told me that the unit the other company wanted to use was massive for our space and recommended something that fit us perfectly. Not just in price but in usage. Plus the HOA process of approval was a breeze since he gave me all the documentation I needed promptly without any fuss so I could get the approval done. So that was in January and everything has been working wonderfully well. He saved us money on our Sdge bill since the units we have are more energy efficient than the old one that came with the house. But now it's 95 degrees out and our AC went out. Not blowing cold air. I email him at 2am (oh yes, I'm that girl) and vent about how the house is 82. He calls me first thing, 645am and after doing another install at a different location came right over. He was at my place by 1 pm. There was no scheduling appointment or wait. No extra fee to come out right away. He just came over, climbed on our roof, and replaced 2 fuses. Now the AC is working perfectly again. And since his labor was warrantied for a year, there was no cost at all for the repairs. I'm just so thankful that I've gone away from using big corporate services and started working with hard working small business owners when it comes to maintaining my home. It's that personal service that you can't get anywhere else. They know your name, they know your kids names, and they reply to text messages and calls just as if they were your buddy across the street. Now if only I can get this kind of service with Cox cable. Lol. Now those guys are a hot mess. But that's for another review! Do not hesitate! If you need a new AC/furnace or just maintenance on what you already have, please call Steve. You will not regret it. And do not wait until your system breaks down. Just call him and have him do an inspection to see what you have going on. When the temperature reached 100 recently, I noticed that my a/c system was not producing enough cold air. Based on local Next Door and Yelp reviews, I called Steve Riddle hoping that it was just a repair I was looking at. (HVAC system is 18 years old) Steve came the next day, turned on my air and after a quick listen to the outside motor "hum" and the air that was blowing up, he diagnosed that it probably was low in Freon. After he set up his monitoring gear, it confirmed his audio/visual diagnoses. The system needed 1 lb of Freon and within 15 minutes, the inside vent air was blowing 6 degrees cooler. A service call from an honest man and a reasonable service charge (plus the cost of Freon) was all that was needed to get my cooling up to speed. He checked all functions in the attic, filter, etc and everything was 100%. Definitely recommend Steve. read more

He needed to locate an HVAC unit on the roof of a condo complex. Unfortunately, the unit was seized and it was very hard to find. What I remember most from that experience was his REFUND AFTER HE WAS ALREADY PAID. Steve was going back through his notes and realized that he had overcharged on accident.
