We have been taking our pup to Dr. Gaines for several years. Recently our dog, Mac-a-Doodle, was limping around. We were able to get a prompt appointment. Thank goodness, all he had was a broken toenail. You would NOT believe the crazy that was going through my head in the way to the vet. But Dr. Gaines takes excellent care of pet parents too. Been going to Ridgeview for 7 years, and 3 dogs. Ridgeview has the most loving vets in Omaha. We used to go to VCA, and everything was an "emergency" - at Ridgeview they take everything very seriously, but don't make you think your pet is "dying" at every visit - they take the time to explain everything and give you every option. They can handle almost everything but have relationships with specialists and will refer you as needed. Most importantly, you can tell they actually love animals, they think about your pet like their own and never make you feel like your over or under reacting. We've gone here off and on for several years and I have never been thrilled. First, hard to get an appointment. Second, i feel like they are always pushing meds. Always. We've been to several vets (due to traveling for work) and nobody has ever recommended multiple anxiety medications. It's a cat, of course they hate the vet, they don't like to leave home! Then, I feel like they make blanket statements with no educational information to follow (ie, "your cat is overweight, I'm worried about that".... Then nothing. Like what's overweight? What's a goal? How much sound you feed?). Last, we had a medical emergency and they couldn't shoo us out the door fast enough to an emergency clinic because it was too late on a Friday (they were still open for several hours). They told us they couldn't do something that I would think a "hospital" would (straight cath). Then later, on the check up, when I made a legit recommendation/observation, I was ignored/dismissed. We've found a different vet since. read more

Ridgeview treats our dogs like family! They get us in and work around our schedule. They follow up and check on our fur babies. They always have suggestions and alternative treatments for all the situations. I highly recommend Ridgeview for your fur babies too! read more

I made an appointment with Ridgeview Animal Hospital to give my cat a lion's cut I was quoted $42 for a first-time exam and $48 for the lion cut I went back to get my cat and my bill was $122 I told them I did not want her to have anesthesia if at all possible they told me they did not give her anesthesia but my bill was still a $122. When I got home I examined my bill as it was late and I needed to get home when I examined the bill I saw I was charged $42 for the exam as quoted $55 for the lion cut which the tail was not cut at all it looked like she had Christmas tree branches at the base of her tail and her tail wasn't shaved. and then additional $25 an hour which was never spoken of on the phone or in the office for the butcher job they did on my cat she looks so horrific I was willing to take her to another vet to have them clean her up she looks like the goat chewed on her. read more

Dr. Gaines is the best. Over the last 15 years, we've had two cats and a dog as patients there. Dr. Gaines listens attentively. She's smart, hard working and CARES about her patients. She has a great bedside manner with her patients and their owners. In fact, everyone at Ridgeview Animal Hospital CARES. Two of our pets lived out their lives and had to be put down in the end. In both cases we received a sympathy card signed by the doctor and her entire staff. Nice touch. Great people--and our dog loves it there. That's all we need. read more

Arrived for my dogs grooming appointment at 7:30 am and was told the groomer couldn't make it in so needed to reschedule. I understand not being able to come in due to road conditions but do not understand not calling the customers expected to arrive first thing in the morning to drop off their pet. I was on my way to work so had to turn around and take my dog home. Very rude of them not to call. Will not be coming back. read more

I was taking my golden retriever there for a little over a year after we moved here from Chicago. The vet had probably only met Husker a few times when he recently got sick and I had to take him to urgent care during after hours where we learned he had fluid around his heart. I took him in to the vet the next morning and they did everything they go to remove it but Husker's heart gave up in the process and we lost him. There was nothing anyone could do. Honestly, as heartbreaking and difficult as this unexpected passing was; the entire staff blew my mind with their patience and kindness. They donated to the Arbor Tree foundation and a tree was planted in his honor and they even sent a personalized card to me and my family. I'm honestly so touched by the people that work at Ridgeview. They were always so kind and great with him over the last few visits leading up to this. I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat. They are all amazing people and I am so fortunate to have had them when Husker needed them most. read more

Desk staff are very friendly. But Doctors are sales people for the pharmaceutical companies. Doctors office is riddled with over dramatic posters from the pharmacy companies, and the doctors are always pushing and selling prescriptions, treatments, and services. Our dog is a rescue Pug. She is 13 years old, blind, deaf, and only goes out for walks, but is always getting the $500 treatment. And this visit, we were told that she is now obese. Because she is 4 pounds over weight. There is a prescription that they can provide that will help with her appetite. Of course, surgery is an option. She has dry eyes (although she is blind) and should get a prescription for her eye moisture. "Try keeping your eyes open for 5 minutes without blinking - that what she is feeling" says the doctor. There's a new test for a new disease (forgot name) that dogs should be immunized from (similar to heart-worm, but more devastating!). She needs a prescription for her sinuses (Have you ever owned a pug... they all snort). She needs (and we buy) prescription Diet food, only available by prescription at $95 a bag. She needed to have her teeth cleaned, and I was told that I need to brush her teeth 2x a day, with a prescription tooth paste (free sample lasts 4 days). Plus a prescription mouth rinse. Plus prescription shampoo, and prescription ear drops for her ears. I love my dog, and she has had a good life with us, but I feel the pharma-fear mongers have taken over the clinic! read more

This animal hospital is incredible. I just moved to the area and needed my dog to be seen for a second opinion. Dr. Bell was wonderful and I was close to tears over her sensitivity, understanding, and general patience with all of my questions. I have a shiba inu and they're known to be jumpy and timid, and she took the time to warm up to him and make sure he was comfortable the whole duration of our visit. Not to mention, the office staff is just amazing. They all made me feel welcome, helped me with paperwork, and even called my previous vet to get all of my dog's paperwork, so I didn't have to. They also emailed me my invoice and explained all charges thoroughly even before my appointment. Their pricing is also wonderful and I feel so confident in this animal hospital and its wonderful staff. Thank you so much for taking a weight off of my shoulders and helping my dog feel much better. Ridgeview has great quality and reasonable prices. The staff is great and efficient. Rarely is there a wait. They have 4 veterinarians, so it usually isn't difficult to get in for appointments. Highly recommend this clinic in West Omaha! read more

This hospital is very close to my house what motivated me to try, after my dog spent the whole night at Animal Emergency Clinic - unfortunately, the ONLY NIGHT VET HOSPITAL IN OMAHA. Dr. Gains was very skillful and attentive. She prescribed all the medications and we both thought the dog was health enough to go home, so he would stress less. As the antibiotic took long to make effect, I called 300 times and the staff was just great - kind and helpful. By the end of the day, the dog was screaming, more because of his bottom than because of the diarrhea, so I returned there. Dr. Bell atended me and made me less concerned, yet I felt it was better to take him back to the ONLY NIGHT VET HOSPITAL IN OMAHA ( have I stressed that enough?!), for another expensive overnight. The other day, I came back to Ridgeview and asked to leave the dog for the day on intravenous serum, so I would not have to return to the AEC again at the night and pay a fortune. Dr. Bell took the dog in, watched him through the day, and all for much less I was charged at night. When I got him back, he was much better, attending to her, what is just not like him - she must have really given him some attention. So, I'd really recommend. read more

I took my puppy there when I got him from PetLand. They were super nice and at a good price. They helped me out with him for a year. I then got a Boxer. When I took her there to get her vaccinations I went to a different doc than I had been at that clinic. She seemed very aftraid of my dog, which was odd. my dog likes to lick, and she tried to lick her face and jump up a little and the made the vet scared. She proceded to muzzle my dog which I did NOT like, then took her in the back for her shots which I could hear my dog freaking out. I would recommend Dr. Gains because I had a great experience with her for my puppy. I would not recommend Dr. Bell.. But Dr. Gains is very helpful! read more

We took our cat in to get groomed and they were very bad! We give them very specific info that he has been cut in the past, so BE CAREFUL! He is put to sleep as he is hard to work with, so it isn't like he is a squirming or anything. However, he has 3 cuts on him and we weren't informed of any of them. He had his annual exam, shots, and grooming and with all of that we didn't even see the vet once - very poor service and will be taking him someplace else. The last time he got a cut he got very sick and we made the vet pay for the medication as it was their error - he isn't sick yet, but if he does they can expect a call! read more

My cat had surgery on her eyes and had stitches. They said just bring her in and we'll snip they out, quick and no problem. Of course there was a problem! She had to be sedated and kept for several hours and I was charged much more than expected. Much more than expected and I was scolded because they didn't have enough time to monitor her as the sedation wore off. I had to take a still sedated kitty home, and they were very anxious that I could get her out of there so they could close on time. Needless to say I did not go back. read more

Ridgeivew Animal Hospital is the absolute best!! From the moment I walked in I was greeted and taken care of by the friendly front staff. I had virtually no wait time, and was in a room within (what seemed like) seconds. The technician was quick to enter and get started on questions about my dogs life in the past year. She was very smart and even educated me on why my dog definitely needs heart worm and flea/tick preventative year round, not just in the summer months. We've seen all of the doctors at this clinic and have never had a bad experience. They have treated my Penny like their own each and every time. They also are quick to get in the room, which I'm sure as most of us know, is NOT how it is at most places. The doctors are very knowledgable and help to answer any questions or ease any worries I may have. I could not imagine taking my fur baby anywhere else. How could I forget to mention their prices!?!!? They seriously have the most fair prices around AND are still a high quality clinic. Literally every single person we have ever come across, whether it was in the front lobby or the exam room, genuinely cares about Penny and her well-being. If you haven't been happy with your current clinic and are thinking about switching, you should really give Ridgeview a try.
