Excellent options for gluten free peeps! My recent diagnosis made me have to sober up and find some good GF options nearby as soon as possible. Riganato was a place that we drove by all the time but never really tried due to whatever reason. However, after reading some reviews on here on how great they are for GF people, we had to try it. I am so sad I slept on this place for so long! Their GF are fantastic and everything is clearly labeled. They even have a separate HUGE GF menu which includes pretty much everything you can think of. We had a meat lovers pizza, marinated beets, and calamari. Everything was excellent but I am in LOVE with those beets. I could eat those every day for B/L/D. Fantastic service and cozy ambiance, as well. Do give them a try if you are GF or just a fan of tasty, light Italian food. read more

Food was great, but our large group was pretty much ignored. Reservation was at 6:00 dinner. It took 30 minutes after we were all seated for our dinner orders to be taken. 50 minutes later our food arrived. 45 minutes later we finally got our checks. The place was pretty crowded so I understand that - but we were pretty much held hostage in the back room. Our host treated us to dessert, which arrived without forks to eat it. The waitress came 5 minutes later and literally threw them on the table for us to pass around. Not classy. My lasagne was fabulous though so kudos to the chef - but did not make up for the poor service. I will consider returning off hours with the hope of better service. read more

The wife and I took the mother in law here for her birthday because it has a gluten free menu. While we all enjoyed our food, the PEI Mussels were the strongest dish. The mussels are surprisingly fresh for Northern Illinois where the only local (sort of) variety are zebra mussels. Also, the bread (served hot) is delicious and goes perfectly with the broth, which appeared to be garlic, onions, white wine and whatever delicious spices the cook uses. The wife announced that she would return just to have beer and mussels. The rest of the food was good, but not excellent. The wife's pepperoni and green pepper pizza was okay. I had Moroccan spicy kabobs, which were dry, but okay with the tzatziki. The best entree was the branzino which was properly cooked and seasoned. read more

We wanted to try some place different tonight so we went to Riganato based on the reviews. We started the evening with calamari which was pretty good. For dinner we had chicken tortellini and lobster ravioli (the special). The food was okay. The chicken with the tortellini was more room temperature than hot. The ravioli was good. Our waitress was attentive and very good. We appreciated how she asked if we needed drink refills before refilling them. There were a lot of tables, but many were filled. Overall the meal was decent, but we both thought it was overpriced and not worth what we paid compared to competitors. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

I ordered take out from here, kudos for offering grubhub to deliver for you to my area, deliveries near my home are limited. I ordered pizza & pasta. If you catch alot of my reviews you know I like my pizza extra sauce, easy cheese, baked well done. Review the pics of the pie I received and you'll see the pizza is not what I'm into at all. It tasted ok, but had they followed my bake well done/easy cheese instructions they probably could've made the perfect pie. *INSERT A VERY SAD FACE HERE* On to the pasta *INSERT A HUGE SIGH HERE* Review the pic, it's DRY... Idk if it was tomato based sauce or the oil sauce used/supposed to be used, but I didn't enjoy it. The italian sausage was tasty and cooked well done. But the dish was dry. I just couldn't enjoy it. This was our first visit. When we arrived I was a little concerned as there were only two other tables full of people. Turned out we were just early for dinner. Buy the time we left the place was almost entirely full. It was also apparent they received a lot of return business as the host knew several of the patrons by first name. We started with calamari. My wife and I were surprised at how quickly it arrived at our table. It was perfectly cooked and several of the pieces were very large. In fact it was probably the largest calamari I have ever seen in an appetizer. For our main courses, my wife order the butternut squash gnocchi, and I had the lasagna. Both were large portions and perfectly cooked. It is understandable why this place has 4 1/2 stars. We will definitely be back. read more

Walked into this restaurant 15 minutes into opening and we sit down order our food and drinks. The bread was great and warm and the service was great. The workers are very nice and I could talk for ten hours with them. In this environment everyone was a hard worker and very like able. What a fantastic cozy restaurant! My family and I went here after a hockey game. It didn't disappoint! Great warm feee bread! Calamari was really good but small portions. The mushroom soup was too garlicky but they exchanged for lemon chicken soup with no issues and that was excellent. Everyone loved their entrees and good portions. I drove 7 miles to this place so I can be very disappointed by the reheated lasagna that they served me, and the spaghetti. They took less than 10 minutes to bring out my lasagna. I've never had lasagna served to me that fast, and I was very surprised. I usually have to wait like 20+ minutes. That's how you know that it is reheated. We could only take about 3 bites of each plate. We paid the full amount and left the plates almost full. Never coming back here. read more

What a spectacular restaurant! I ordered DoorDash for my children and I today as a treat (and because we moved here on Wednesday and have not unpacked the kitchen), and were blown away by the food! Coming from Napa, San Francisco, and a family full of northern Italians, this place tastes like home. The many gluten free options are a major plus, as my son is very intolerant. It is the best gluten free penne we have had to date. I also had to fight (not really) my son for the Chicken Riganato sauce, because we wanted to drink it like soup. It is based in an old 2 story house and is a bit of a mix of Italian fare with some Greek thrown in. The service is always good and it is a fun place to go. The food varies from very good to great. The meatballs are a bit different, giant and stuffed with cheese. The tortellini is a go to and the pizzas are all very good. They also generally have some fresh fish selections. We chose Riganato carry-out for a January small family celebration. Ordered 6 various entrees ranging from chicken, shrimp, rack of lamb, branzino and pasta and every one of the entrees was fabulous. Each side item chosen for the entrees were great. We also ordered appetizers of both calamari options along with the jalapeño pesto gnocchi. Each of these apps were delicious. Finished the meal with a couple shared homemade baklava which had wonderful flavor.
