Why did I go here? =\ I was at Starbucks across the way with a friend when we got hungry and decided to eat here. A convenient choice gone wrong......... I ordered the lunch special, Italian sausage pasta with their "special" garlic sauce. Blah. It tasted like they opened a can of cream sauce, dumped it on the fettucine and shoved it in the microwave! There was no Italian sausage... just pieces of unidentifiable chewy meat. As I ate the flavorless pasta, I thought to myself, "at least this place is clean" .... NOT. I saw tiny bits of leftover dried pasta stuck on my fork. :'( AND the small plates for the balsamic vinegar and evoo by the bread bar had oil residue.... ON EVERY SINGLE PLATE. We have ordered online many times before and have ordered spinach on our pasta for no extra charge. It's says 0.00 for adding spinach. They called us and said now they charge for it. Then they hardly add any to our meals. The lady on the phone was very rude. I do not recommend this rigatoni's . SO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!!! The manager is extremely rude and had no compassion for my daughter who was advised by there sever that there was no garlic in the sauce and there was garlic! She had a reaction immediately after tasting the sauce and the manager was no helpful when asked about other options. We had to end up ordering g only bitter and noodles and they charged a cost of $12 for friggin buttered noodles. When I approached the manager he said oh well. If you have a craving for great minestrone soup and ceaser salad- this is the place to go. Their pastas are good to eat too but everytime I go there i have a hard time thinking about the pastas because I am distracted by the awesome taste of the soup and salad. The bread bar is pretty cool too- always full of your favorites and they have extra oil and vinegar bottles to dip your bread into too. Only down side is be careful if you order take out- if you order more than 2 dishes their bound to put you on the bottom pile of take outs and make you wait for over an hour to get your food. Great place to bring kids - you order at the counter, then go to the all-you-can-eat bread bar (no charge) before you even sit down. If you have a squirmy toddler eating with you on a regular basis, you know how good it is to sit down and immediately offer them food. And, the food you ordered comes fast, fast, fast. This is also very good... I only wish the food were better... It's kind of hit-and-miss. The lasagna is good and the cajun chicken pasta, also good. But, the risotto? Ack - it was al dente rice with a cream sauce. Some items are pretty bland. But, we keep finding ourselves back there because when the kids are happy, everybody is happy. I do like this place a lot because of how it's different from regular restaurant. It gives more of a cozy vibe and it reminds me of a diner more than a restaurant. I like the service, but the Mac n cheese didn't please me as much as I thought it would. The pasta was a bit chewy for me. But I would come back, maybe try another dish. read more

Rigatoni's is really good for a fast pasta place. The place I work for has also ordered trays from here for company parties and everything is always good. If you want an authentic Italian restaurant though, this isn't it. They offer all the pasta staples. I really like the fettuccine alfredo with Italian sausage. They'll even put a dollop of alfredo sauce on your spaghetti if you ask. read more

Like this place but I usually only get the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine because it's almost as good as Strizzi's, Fremont. The rye bread is really good when it fresh and not sitting out in the basket all day. It usually really busy Monday-Friday with the lunch crowd so you can opt to go to the one on Hayward which has better service anyways. read more

Wow! I ordered macaroni and cheese and a side salad. The side salad was fine, but the Mac n cheese was Kraft style Mac n Cheese ( I think it was the sea shell Kraft pasta). I spent $10 on this little slice of childhood nostalgia, which is about $8 more than I should have spent. Having said that, I was delightfully stunned that anyone would actually serve Kraft Mac n Cheese in a restaurant. I'll never forget this incredible and weird experience. I'm giving this place one star due to the management ! What kinda idiots do they have running this place . As I sit here in the the restaurant I'm watching one server (young white guy with beard I believe his name is Ray) run around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to serve the whole restaurant ! The cooks are really backed up people sitting around over a hour waiting on food no clean forks bread baskets empty all because the owner and management don't know how to book shifts ! I use to run casual fine dining restaurants in sf and now how it is and I can tell u from experience whoever is running the show here is throwing his crew under the bus! I feel bad for this group and suggested they all leave this place and get new jobs . It's a shame because this place has a lot of potential. read more

The price is right for a quick lazy meal. Its one of the better places to get take out. The actual dining area feels cramped after awhile. My hubby loves lasagna but I dont have the time to make it all of the time so he goes there when he really has a hankering for it. The spaghetti is ok. This used to be a place I'd frequent in Castro Valley after going to the cinema. I would order their pasta primavera or chicken Alfredo pasta. Over the years, the food has lost some of its consistency. I have been there a few times where the pasta was overdone or the dish watered down. Expensive and not as good as it should be. You'll run into kids, babies, teens, your grandma, and more babies. You'll also run into someone who you don't want to see, someone you've seen around town but don't know, and you'll witness just how crazy CVB drivers actually are. I recommend for lunch and for take out. They are great with fundraising opportunities and the bread is always fresh. Convenient location and nice service. Minus 2 stars for crap portions for the price of the plate I ordered. I ordered sausage and sun-dried tomato garlic Bolognese with cream. For $10 I expected a decent meal-snack (it was 9pm). What I got was penne in white sauce with nice garlic smell but only smidgens of what could have been any meat and specs of red which I assume were the tomatoes. The food here really has no taste. It passes itself off as an Italian restaurant, but it's really just pasta with phony Italian sauces with no taste. I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is, and the service when it's busy is semi slow. It never seems like the staff has any urgency in their getting the line moving. My friend was craving pasta and after searching yelp we found this restaurant. I live in the area for 10+ years and pretty much missed this restaurant in the plaza. So after deciding forever I got the special chicken artichoke with pesto and the minestrone soup. The soup it was hearty and flavorful. They had a bread bar but I WISH the bread was warm. The chicken was not dry and not too heavy for me. Its cheaper than olive garden and the staff is friendly too. I would come back but I can cook decent Italian so maybe once in a blue moon. read more

We just moved to the area and were hosting our first get together. We decided to order food from Rigatoni's and we are so glad we did. Not only was calling in my order easy and a pleasant experience, the food was hot and ready to go when we arrived to pick it up. We ordered three different trays of pasta, salad and garlic bread. All of our guests raved about the food. There was more than enough for our dinner party. Thank you Rigatoni's for making it easy on us. We will definitely be ordering again. read more

We had company lunch at this place... good thing we were the first to come in so they are able to accomodate us. But noticed that one of the staff was yelling on top her lungs which is not professional but guess she did not realize we were there at the time but she mellowed down when she was handing out the food and trying to be friendly while we were having our lunch. Been here a few times over the years. Tonight did some takeout soup and 2 pasta dishes. Minnestrone Soup was OK, but at $8.99/ quart, meh. Two pasta dishes were mediocre at best with so-so portions at $8.99 and $9.99 a dish. The one plus is staff was friendly and prep time was quick. It will be a while before I return. Quite a few of my older friends come here so I thought I'd give it a try. I had classic spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were fine. The sauce however was bland and just a bit odd in flavor. Was super disappointed at this bland and boring meal. I had a Caesar salad which was nothing more than bag lettuce with the little grated Parmesan on top that wasn't even fresh. Then a pasta fettuccine with frozen chicken slices that look like they were from Costco. It also had some boiled broccoli florettes that were mushy and bland. I used to frequent the Rigatonis in Dublin all the time when I worked close to it. My usual is the Cajun Chicken pasta. I ordered my food to go and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. Since the pasta is made to order it doesn't always come out the same. The cook did an ok job this time, the sauce was a little watery and seemed to have too much of something but it was still edible. Love this place. Never that busy and the food is always good. I like not having to wait for more bread of another drink, saves from having to rely on a server. They have an extensive menu with a lot of variety too. If you have the chance, the catering menu is amazing. For very little cash you can feed huge amounts of people!
