Last week, I missed them (they close at 8pm) so I tried another spot and they came NO WHERE CLOSE to Villa Roma. A balanced and even spread of sauce, cheese, and toppings The pizza is a New York style thin crust, not the overly dough cushion thickness from the typically franchises. Overall taste is fresh and delicious. This definitely pleases a pizza crave. I would recommend to try and I would order again. The prices are a bit lower than others too. Beef and chicken kebabs are I've had the pizza there but frankly IMHO there is better pizza out there. We stick with the kebabs which is served with rice, some nice crispy bread and a small Greek salad. The garden salad is also very well put together so we usually get that as well. read more

Then I remembered this place called Villa Roma on Castro Valley Boulevard. I suggested it to my husband and he agreed we should give it a try. We ordered a custom pizza with all our favorite things and a garden salad. The pizza was delicious, and the garden salad was an unexpected early Christmas gift. It was packed with all kinds of veggies and so flavorful. I was used to getting some lettuce and dressing for a garden salad so this was great. The service was excellent. If I was just rating the pizza and kabobs I'd have given Villa Roma five stars. This is our go-to pizza place in town. I don't think they get much done in activity so "ambiance" is lacking. I wish I could sit in nice booth with a pitcher of beer and enjoy the wonderful food fresh out of the oven. I recommend you order up an "Italiano" with the chicken kabobs. You won't be disappointed! If you like a softer crust (read comfort food) with a nice ratio to the toppings, you are in for a treat. There was plenty of chicken, artichoke hearts, peppers and onions. I would have preferred a bit more cheese and pesto, but I tend to go extreme. The young man who took my order was courteous and appreciative...as was his father(?) sitting nearby. It made me glad to support this local business. I noticed that there was homemade pistachio baklava and wished I had brought more cash. I will be back for that and more pizza. read more

The ingredients are always fresh, the sauce is perfect, and the crust is as tasty as it gets. Service can be a bit of a challenge at times. They do get busy and overwhelmed during some higher demand times. I almost always order online these days and pick it up in person. Calling in to order can be challenging as wait times can be long. Overall, Villa Roma is a great pizza place. Great calzones too! I've tried there kabobs too, and they are high quality as well. Inflation has caused prices to rise, but what has not been affected. I love Round Table and Mountain Mike's but I couldn't enjoy ordering from them knowing I was going to spend $50-$60 for a large pizza. Villa Roma's crust is just as good as Round Table and it's toppings are just as fresh as Mountain Mike's...for about HALF THE PRICE!!! And I love that they are a family-owned, local business. One of our favorite pizza joints in CV. They do allow you to get half half flavors which works out well for our family members who like a variety. We often opt for pick up since there isn't a ton of parking. Don't sleep on the kebab either! I lived in Castro Valley for 10 years and this was my go to pizza place until recently. I ordered the combo with 2 topping pizza and chicken kebab. The quality and service has really gone downhill. There wasn't very much toppings and 6 small pieces of chicken for the Kevin. I understand the inflation and the cost of ingredients, but you shouldn't charge your customers $1 for extra chimichurri sauce for your chicken kebab. I can understand paying extra quarter or fifty cents, but DOLLAR? The owner should re-evaluate his priorities and try to remember that he is in the food service industry. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! Villa Roma has multiple signs on the entrances and inside stating masks must be worn at all times and can not be taken off. The owner had his hanging from his ear, a cook didn't have one at all, and another worker had it below his nose. This is UNACCEPTABLE!! When I mentioned that masks should be worn if guests are expected to wear them, the owner lifted his mask as if he was going to put it on, smirked, and proceeded to leave it hanging from his chin. It was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and businesses should be treating their customers who are supporting them during these times better. Not to mention the expected time for the completion of our order was 40 minutes before we were given it. The pizza should've at least been good, and it wasn't. DO NOT EAT HERE!! I rolled to VRP in my Weekend Whip. VRP is located in a Strip Mall on Castro Valley Blvd.. I was able to park right out in front. VRP is a small restaurant with 4 tables to sit and dine in. I approached the Counter and was greeted by a Cute Puerto Rican girl. She handed me a menu. I ordered a Medium Thin Crust Combination Pizza and a Coke I paid by Discover card. My pizza took about 20 minutes to cook . I didn't mind I had a great Conversation with the Cute Counter girl. She brought my Pizza when it was done.
