I am SO glad that Tony's pizza decided to do this Slice House franchise! They have the highest quality pizza. It is available in a wide variety of huge slices at an affordable price! I love this place! I usually order the pepperoni from here, which is topped with the finest pepperoni on top of beautiful 00 crust in which the gluten has been fully developed and respected in order to create the perfect Al-dente crust. Every pizza I have tried at slice house has been SO good! Yesterday I had the Caesar salad for the first time! I would have much preferred that they had tossed it with the dressing and served it on a real plate instead of in plastic, but I can't complain too much, because the lettuce was crisp and fresh, the croutons were lovely and fresh, and it came with authentic shaved Reggiano! Not some BS fake garbage cheese, Regianno!!! This location is wonderful, spacious, clean and airy. There is plenty of parking. Lovely!!! read more

Where to begin. I genuinely would come to slice house once a week when frequenting the Castro Valley marketplace. The pizza options in terms of slices and pies were great. Ive noticed a shift where dam near every single slice option has bacon/ ham/ pork options. I do not eat any type of pork and its disappointing that it's become the case. Ive also noticed this at other slice house locations. I used to really enjoy the Big Papa that they took off the menu and replaced with a similar option that includes pork. Every week I check the slice house line up options and maybe 1 (basic cheese) are non-ham eating friendly. The Bay Area is a diverse place. Would recommend some market research on the diverse groups and eating habits of those that live in and frequent the locations. Authentic pizza can be made that doesnt require every option to include pork. I know they have other menu options but sometimes you dont want to buy a whole pie. read more

I'll start by saying that when we first started ordering from here, the pizza was consistently good. Fresh, well-made and delicious. Lately, it's been hit or miss. There have been orders where the toppings were skimpy or missing, and orders where the pizza was undercooked. I don't like writing reviews, especially if they're on the negative side, but tonight I couldn't skip a review. It was that bad. We decided to order a different style, with different toppings. A grandma style BBQ chicken. A full third of this pizza was inedible, Absolutely burnt on the bottom and outside edges. I couldn't even bite through it. It was a sad, dry, burnt pie. I know the difference between "caramelized" and burnt. This was burnt. If we lived closer, I would have brought it back to the restaurant, but we are a 15-20 min drive away. For nearly $40 a pie, this is totally unacceptable. To make matters worse, there is no way to contact via email (ordered online) to give feedback on your order. I am extremely frustrated, disappointed, and hungry. I am not exaggerating when I say that I've had better frozen pizza. Seriously. If you're going to order a bbq chicken grandma style, do yourself and your wallet a favor and just pick up a frozen CPK bbq chicken from the grocery store as there is very little difference. And then if you burn it, you only have yourself to blame. That said, the Detroit picante (which is our usual go-to order) is usually really good - unless it's under cooked and toppings are skimpy (which is sometimes the case.) So sad - this is one of the better places for takeout. We may give them another chance, but not anytime soon as I hate getting burned. read more

My kiddos favorite pizza. They have slices most of the day but I recommend the whole pies for better quality. This is our usual delivery spot so we don't eat in much. This location is a part of a food hall with a grocery store and some other small food spots. A cheese pizza will run you close to $30 but based on the pizza in the area it's worth it. I feel like from the times I've had Slice House, you can never go wrong for a quick slice on the go. They have a variety of pizzas you can choose from. They have vegan and gluten free pizzas but sadly those don't come in slices. Hoping and crossing fingers they're able to provide that option in the near future! They're located in the Castro Valley Marketplace that has so many things you can do while you wait for your pizza to be prepared. I visited this Slice House once several months back when I was in the area. I remembered that it's much smaller than the one I usually go to in Mountain View. This particular Slice House is located inside the market store. There were some seating there. They had some similiar items as the one in MV. I got a slice of Detroit style of Something, but I do remember it being tasty. Service was pretty friendly. I had to wait a few minutes until someone stepped out of the kitchen when I first got there. I found parking on the street pretty close to the place. Not too bad. 3.5 stars read more

My pizza slices of choice were the Wiseguy and the BBQ Chicken (Friday Pizza of the Day, NY style). Both slices were delicious and HUGE! I believe each slice was only $6.50. Service was friendly and fast. In addition, I ordered a cannoli, but the cream was just ok. Here's What I Think ... This is a good spot to go if you want something a little different than your local pizza shop. The prices are reasonable and the slices are huge. I'll be back. We recently tried Slice House in Castro Valley and were really impressed. We ordered a Sicilian-size pepperoni and sausage pizza along with a large Hawaiian pizza, and both were solid choices. The pizza itself is really good, especially the crust--perfect texture and flavor. One thing I loved about the Hawaiian pizza is that the pineapple is thinly sliced, not those chunky tidbits that keep falling off. It makes a huge difference and keeps every bite balanced. Portions are generous, and the serving size is definitely great value for the money. We also ordered the cannoli, and it was pretty good--nice way to end the meal. The shop is located inside the Castro Valley Marketplace, which makes it a convenient stop. On top of the food, the service was awesome. Great place with yummy pizza. I waited a little bit to give a review because I wanted them to sort out their workflows and I can say the improvement is great. Early on I would show up and my pizza would be ready but I was not told nor was it out for me to find. I can say they now consistently call names, ask me what my name is when I walk in, and I have a great take out, delivery, or dine in meal. I really love the creativity of the pizza options and the option to have multiple types of crust size. My favorite is the Cal Italia! The saltiness of the prosciutto and the sweetness of the drizzle make it the best! They have some good happy hour rotations daily and the hot oil is delish. One day I wanna try some pasta but for now, I'm sticking to the za :) They have rotational slices daily so you can try something new each time. I order frequently from slice house using DoorDash. Yesterday was a first that the pizza GMA Sweet Gino was unlike any pizza I have gotten in the past. It was more than disappointing , it was like a bad joke . It was very thin, flat, with very little sauce and cheese and tasted like a stale cracker. Semi ordered online and by the time I got to cashew valley from FREMONT it only took five minutes for it to be ready It's inside a market but at 7 o'clock at night almost everyone was there for pizza. Great pizza by the slice and friendly staff. Lots of options and toppings available all inside a convenient marketplace location. I love this pizza from the city in Little Italy - they have a by the slice next to the more fancy sit down restaurant - here it is a stand alone Slice House. Endless variety here. Also specials of the day for those that want more excitement. I tend to like the pineapple pizza in SF as its real pineapple - but didn't see it here. You have the option of buying just a slice at whatever is at the window as well. This location is located in a supermarket square like building. The outstanding component imo is the hot oil and ranch combo with the pizza that really makes it stand out. Oh wow! I could've swore I gave a review earlier being this was my only place to get pizza slices. Normally I would say how much I love this place. Today not so much. Why is 2oz ranch $1.25? Whatever happened $0.25 and $.50? I went right across the street to Safeway and bought a bottle of ranch for 2.49 so I wouldn't have this issue again. That's insane for that little container. We LOVED our Detroit deep dish style pizza. I can't speak to anything other than our order as it's our first visit to Slice house. The baked cheese edges, drool! The fact that the sauce sits on top allowed us to each choose how much or how little sauce we preferred. It was perfect! Ngl, it was a bit pricy. And before taking it home and eating it, I would have said I won't go back. But after tasting it, my daughter and I both felt it was worth the cost. I've been waiting for there to be a Slice House by Tony Gemignani in the East Bay closer to us, and love that there is a new addition to the Castro Valley Marketplace (and the slice house) is now here! I'm a big fan of Tony's pizza and also Pizza de Laura over here in Berkeley (the owner trained with Tony). I've def had my share of Tony's from the OG location in SF, inside Chase Center, and slices from locations in SF, Walnut Creek, San Leandro, and now Castro Valley. Served more so grab & go, although there is seating at the market to eat in-person, I grabbed some slices as I was on the run. Can't go wrong with their classic slice of cheese, pepperoni, and the Detroit-style Hawaiian (comes with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Honey, Smoked Ham, and pineapple rings, not chunks!). To note: they offer NY, Detroit, Grandma, and Sicilian-style pizza. I would research their menu for a few minutes before ordering because there's some decisions of flavor and style to be made! They also offer antipasti options like meatballs, specialties like the meatball sub, salads, dessert, a few pastas, and fun retail items like Tony's Hot Oil and a to-go pizza kit. FYI: 2oz. sides of ranch are $1. Other sides include house-made local hot honey, pesto, and grandma sauce :) Next time I'm in the area, I'm def coming back and hey, might even order a whole pie. I'm a huge fan of slice house, I originally would go to the one in SF & then living in Castro valley I started going to the one in San Leandro so I think adding this to the Castro Valley Market Place was a great idea & thankfully Castro Valley seems to be on the up & coming when it comes to restaurants & business which is cool to watch since I've been here for about 13 years now. The service is always fast in my opinion but I typically am a 2 slice type of person. I don't really care what anyone says but a good cheese pizza is hard to find & theirs is damn good by daughter gets a slice from here almost every Tuesday it's her favorite treat of the week I also enjoy the one with mascarpone & Italian sausage on top - it's minor when it comes to spice but I personally love spice so I always add hot honey. In my opinion the pizza is great on its own so it doesn't really require all the extra toppings. I'm also a fan of the crust it kinda taste like sourdough? As for the ambiance it's inside of the market - the seating is all over the place & this seems to be one of the busier restaurants in here. This used to be the best pizza chain in the Bay Area, but they've really lost their touch as they've expanded. Given how expensive they are now, it's just not worth it. The employees really don't seem to like working there, the pizza is about a 7 out of 10 at most locations, and they don't allow half-and-half options anymore. They seem to be going the "charge more and provide less" route--which is typical when private equity buys you out and ruins everything. I've since found a few other places that are a much better experience, so I've stopped going entirely. I used to go twice a week. read more
