We checked out Rikki Tikki in Kensington market last week. If you are looking for quality, wonderfully flavored Indian food, go no further. Nice modern decor. Comfy seating with an outside patio too. They are fully licensed. We had the lamb shank and chicken korma. Soooo good. Had the rice pulao and bean and enjoyed one of the best mango lassi we ever had. Quality ingredients. Price is $$ scale. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. It's on Augusta Ave. Best way to get there is TTC (Spadina streetcar). But if you drive, there is a Green P parking lot nearby.

Modern Indian flavours in the heart Kensington Market! I came to check out chef Ricky's dishes here where they use quality ingredients and in-house blended spices for the most authentic taste! Inside is modern and clean, staff were all very attentive and explained the menu for us. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted delicious, especially paired with the garlic naan! Highly recommend trying if you're in the area. My favourite was the saag lamb and butter chicken with garlic naan!! The mango lassi was also so refreshing!

We came here on a Monday night and were glad to find they were busy with dine-in and takeout orders. They also have a semi-private dining area at the back of the restaurant for larger groups. It was a hot day, so we didn't sit on the patio. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. We asked for recommendations with our food and drinks and we were happy with their recommendations. We ordered "Patiala Shahi" from cocktail menu and "Indian Roadside Lemon Soda" from the mocktail menu. They weren't the usual cocktails you find on any restaurant menu, so we were happy with our choices. For appetizers, we ordered "Gobi Manchurian", which was a great vegetarian option. And I love spicy food. For entrée, we ordered "Anarkali Bahar", Saag Paneer", "Butter Chicken", "Coconut Prawn Curry" and of course your Indian experience is not complete if you don't pair your food with some Naan; so we ordered "Garlic Naan". Everything tasted amazing; right amount of spices and flavors and cooked to perfection. I strongly recommend "Butter Chicken" and "Coconut Prawn Curry".

With every dish meticulously plated and bursting with aromatic flavors, this is a culinary gem you need to experience! I tried a variety of dishes, but here are my top recommendations: Paneer Tikka: If you're a fan of paneer, this dish is a must try. The paneer was incredibly tender and flavorful, complemented perfectly by a chutney that was subtly spicy and refreshing. Garlic Naan: So irresistibly buttery and garlicky that I could devour the basket solo. Goan Fish Curry: Typically, I'm not a fan of coconut curries however, this fish was delightfully flaky, swimming in a rich, creamy sauce, and served over rice--it was simply phenomenal. Mango Delight: As a mango fiend, I can tell you this stunning drink is a must. A vibrant fusion of mojito and mango, it's incredibly refreshing and perfect for cooling down on these hot summer days.

On a weekend trip to Toronto - found Rikki Tikki in Kensington village. I had planned to wander the neighborhood but it was too cold - January in Canada. I ordered samosas, shrimp biryani (spicy) and Naan. All were absolutely delicious. The samosas were flaky, perfectly fried, with a good potato filling. I'm no expert in Indian cuisine but I would think I eat enough to know what's good. This biryani may be the best I've had. The basmari rice is perfectly cooked, and seasoned so well. It was tossed with nuts and persimmon seeds, which were a delicious inclusion. The shrimp were a good size (tails off), well-seasoned. I got "spicy" on a scale of mild to very spicy, I like spicy food and also know Indian spicy is another level. The service was pleasant, attentive and not rushing. And! Both the samosa & rice were good as cold leftovers. You know that's good eating.

First time visiting Toronto and we decided to try Indian on our first night here. Searched on Yelp and found Rikki Tikki and it was not disappointing at all. Our server Ritime is sweet, and very accommodating as we tried to switch tables for a few times due to the sunset. She was great as well as the food. Must come and visit again

Stopped by on a Friday night and it was pretty busy with maybe 1-2 empty tables. I've heard really good things about Rikki Tikki and have been waiting months to dine here. Ordered butter chicken, regular naan, garlic naan and an appetizer made of cauliflower(?). Also ordered a few drinks and all of them are pretty strong! The staff are friendly and dropped by once or twice to check up on us. All in all, a great place to dine. It certainly did not disappoint but it's not the best I've had so I give it 4 stars!

Amazing place for modern Indian cuisine in Kensington market!! Spacious seats with a great bar section. Many choices of food and they all are so good! We ordered one veggie curry and chicken curry, we love the curry taste of the combination of a bit sweet and spicy services are excellent! Will come back again for more of curry

We've had the takeout from Riki, Tiki and dined in. Everything we tried has been excellent. The Hyderabad lamb Curry was really really tasty, I also really like the paneer tikka masala and butter chicken. They put a lot of care into their dishes and the presentation is pretty.

I went here late at night around 11 pm with about 5 other friends on a Thursday night & immediately got a table. Our server was very friendly & helped us pick great dishes to order as it was our first time there. They have a nice indoor-outdoor seating area, pretty lively as well. We ordered the dal makhni (9/10), hyderabadi chicken (8/10), lamb rogan josh (8/10) and Malai kofta (8/10). Almost all of these dishes were really great. The butter naan was so fresh and soft, I loved it. We also got the malai soya chaap and it was soooo good. Definitely recommend ordering that. The server recommended getting the jeera rice as well, maybe next time

Had a really great meal recently and loved that there is a solid Indian option in the Kensington Market area. We had the Saag Paneer, Dal Makhani, Butter Naan and an order of Rice. We ordered both dishes as a medium spice, but the Dal was definitely spicier than the Saag Paneer. Both were delicious and so full of flavor. I usually love naan but this time both dishes went better with the rice! Glad that the rice portion is enough to share between two people. Great spot for your indian food fix.

Visited this place for dinner on the weekend. This place is in Kensington market. Parking could be an issue but we got lucky to find one across the street in GreenP. The crew is pretty friendly. Service was top notch. The food was really great!! We got methi naan, mutter paneer, and vegetable biryani. Naan was to die for!!

Rikki Tikki is a popular Indian restaurant in the heart of Kensington. We visited one weekday evening for dinner and the place was packed much to our surprise. We were seated almost immediately and the service was attentive, warm and friendly. We tried a host of things from their menu. The Mango Delight mocktail was a refreshing drink reminded me of a mango drink I grew up drinking in India. The Coconut on the Beach rum based cocktail was another fun drink that instantly transports one to a tropical beach! For appetizers we tried the Mix Veg Platter and the Chilli Shrimp the former being my pick. Jumbo shrimp batter fried and coated in a sweet spicy sauce - absolutely delicious! We tried the Hyderabadi lamb curry and Paneer Kadhai for mains with naan. The Veg Biryani was studded with pomegranate, dry fruits and was an absolute delight to savour! End your meal with the Rikki Special Kulfi - india's version of ice cream which I got to relish after ages and was such a treat. Do not miss out on the desserts! Our meal at Rikki Tikki was comforting Indian fare with modern plating and great service! I would definitely return.

They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. So they gave us four samosas on the house! So nice of them. Husband definitely enjoyed these.

The curry that came with the fish was delicious, however, the type of fish they used had so many bones and it was impossible to figure out under the thick orange sauce if what you were putting in your mouth was all bone or fish. It made for a very unpleasant eating experience for a person use to eating fresh fish. Worth a try but won't be back

Midway through the painfully slow setup process, the entire store started filling with the scent of something glorious. Rich spices, buttery warmth... it was the kind of smell that stops conversations. "Kothur," they said, almost in unison. That was the recommendation, and it stuck with me. I walked by the place once. The exterior didn't scream "hidden gem." Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. It's not trying to reinvent Indian cuisine--it's just doing it well. Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it.
