We've been to the new Ridgefield location once to eat in and once for takeout since it opened last week. Both times were ridiculously busy. Everyone was very friendly and hustling to serve customers. There is definitely a newbie vibe among most of the staff but they were all trying their best to learn. Pizzas we had were solid. The cheese pie was excellent as was the hot honey and Caesar salad pie. Would not order the Nashville hot again- I guess I am not a pickles on pizza person. Had a NA dark and stormy which was the best NA cocktail I have had to date. Prices are reasonable for the area. We will be back, probably lots. read more

Look, I'm a brutal reviewer. Go ahead and look at some of my other reviews. No punches pulled. I went with a friend to Riko's today for lunch. What they've done with the space is remarkable. It's a great looking restaurant pub. Remember, this was the site of one of the most lack Luster pizza joints on earth just a few months ago. Service was quick, sharp, and friendly. We were literally greeted at the door. We went for a margarita pizza and a hot oil pizza. Both were absolutely outstanding. This is thin thin pizza, bar pizza I guess you could call it but if you're expecting a meal from one slice you're in the wrong place. This is delicate, ingredient focused, and absolutely delicious! I also got a gluten-free pizza to go for a family member. Usually gluten-free pizzas aren't that great, and usually they don't survive the trip home and getting cold at all. She devoured it and said it was the best gluten-free pizza she's ever had. The place just opened, and I know it's been incredibly busy at night so you may want to hit it on an off hour until things even out. But this is the pizza place Ridgefield has been waiting for. Unless your idea of pizza is some big thick gloppy thing - in which case please continue to frequent every other pizza place in town. read more

If you like Chucky Cheese pizza, you'll be right at home. Not even close to the same neighborhood as Frank or Sally's. Plus the parking is unreasonably bad. The business model is this: this place has a liquor license and it is a bar. The pizza probably tastes good if you've downed some shots and chasers and you aren't going to need a really large pizza. Or if you have kids and you don't want to spend $50 to $80 at Frank Pepe (and your kids aren't pizza afficionado's), then this might be an option. I couldn't figure out when I was ordering online why there was only one size pizza. I get it now. There's another pizza place almost right across the street that is substantially/significantly better (Brick House Wood Fired). Not thin crust but the quality is significantly better than this place. My experience: Pizza is straight Chucky Cheese (found out when I got it home). Walked into mayhem (picked up my food/pizza and it took an hour to get from ordering online at home to pickup). 8 people deep at the counter, most not happy. Parking lot absolutely dangerously packed. Business is next to a successful BBQ place (Hoo Doo's). Took me 15 minutes to park. Just don't. It's pizza. There are so many pizza places in Connecticut. Plus the people drinking at the bar were all way over 60. Meh. Not giving this place another shot. read more

Finally tried them after passing it a few times and seeing all the hype. We went in with high expectations. The good: outdoor seating was nice, happy hour wine was fine, and the sausage pizza was very good. The rest missed the mark. The wings were beyond disappointing. When you're directly across from a place known for doing BBQ and wings well, and you decide to offer two wing options yourself, you really have to bring your A-game. These didn't come close. I was also surprised to be charged an extra $2.50 just for ranch on the side. I've always seen ranch or blue cheese as the standard choice with wings. The meatballs were underwhelming too. We'd still take Costco's over these. Plates came after requesting them once the two dishes were served to us first and those two dishes arrived in under five minutes, which made them feel pre-prepared and reheated, while the pizza took unusually long. Tables ordering after us were served before ours. It was also chilly outside with no blankets or heat lamps available. Even the app they promote doesn't currently list this Rico's location. There's potential, but the overall experience needs more attention to the basics. When you're opening next to strong competition, details matter. read more

Three star is based on just one experience. Might be more fair to give it a second chance. The building and ambiance is really nice. A perfect place for casual family, teens or watching a game while enjoying a beer. The staff were very friendly. I did though ask if there was wheat in the cauliflower pizza and the server just said, "I don't know" vs "let me go ask". I always feel awkward when I have to ask them to go find out. (Server 101) A pizza walked by me that looked delicious! A white pizza. I was impressed by how it looked and the very thin crust. I ordered a regular pizza with fresh mozzarella added, spicy sausage, mushroom and onion. As well as lemon pepper wings with both ranch and blue cheese. I drove the 6 minutes home only to realize the blue cheese was left out so I went back. (I should have thought to check the bag.) In the extra 15'ish minutes the pizza crust was kind of soggy by the time we had it. If I want thin crust I'd probably do 850. The toppings and sauce though had really good flavor and tasted fresh. Surely it tastes better eaten right away but pizza can usually sit a little longer than that. The chicken wings had nice flavor but a little dry. Disappointed there were only 3 small skinny celery sticks. (The equivalent of one 3" stick) My sticking point why I really was unimpressed was the ranch and blue cheese dressing. Salads are on the menu (besides serving with wings) and the dressings were the worst we've ever had. Tasted like what I imagine generic, wal-mart bottled diet dressing might taste like. Dressings are so easy to make it's always a turn off when something tastes so processed. We tossed it. At least use a higher quality bottled dressing. Ridgefield has I think 8 other pizza places in town and a few others that feature it on their menu, if another pizza place is coming into town I'd think it will need to step it up a bit. read more

I just need everyone who's never worked in a restaurant to respectfully chill with the comments about the speed bumps during week one. Opening a new restaurant is a completely different beast, especially with a brand-new staff learning together. As someone who lives in Ridgefield, I've seen firsthand how entitled people can be over the smallest things. Give them a little grace. Absolutely awful! Completely inept management. I'm willing to give a pass on an opening weekend, but this was especially awful. It wasn't even that busy in there. I can't even judge the pizza because we never got it! They sent us home with 3 pizzas we didn't order. Not even close to what we ordered. When I drove back to "return" them they were literally opening pizza boxes up, showing them to other customers that didn't get what they ordered and saying "this one looks good, do you want to take this one?" . I've never seen anything like it. Then they tried to offer me some random pizzas that were "canceled orders". I declined because who knows how many houses those pizzas had already been at. Or how many times the box had been opened so a customer could put their face in it to see if they wanted it. I nicely asked the kids working the front desk to speak to a manager. The man that came out was one of the most inept, useless employees that I've ever encountered. We were really looking forward to this place opening in town, but they obviously are in over their heads. I was told they refunded me, we shall see. Most of us know that the Rikos brand makes a good pizza, it's a shame that they have such useless, pathetic management tarnishing their good name. And honestly, it all seemed like a big funny joke to the staff. Stay away from Rikos Ridgefield !!! Not worth the trouble. read more

I understand it's a new store, and I understand that openings have glitches, but this is a franchise and one would assume some experience with the opening. The incredible complete ineptitude for taking orders is and was monumental. Ordered two pies at 5:00 pm. Online system said would be ready at 6:48. Arrived at 6:45. There was a long line at the counter, and when I asked someone if this was the takeout line, they actually laughed and said 'Yeah good luck with that.' I went up to the counter, gave my name, and the young lady there said it would be a few more minutes. I asked her to define a few more minutes and it would be another half hour. 20 minutes later, it was still another 20 minutes. Three people at the counter, waiting on us, actually telling people that their orders were placed to be picked up much later we all had our confirmation and they were clearly wrong. Waited for the two pies, which are just slightly larger than a personal pan pizza. The hot oil pizza had a good taste. But overall, this is not much more than an elevated frozen pie, you can get at the grocery store. One of the pies we had, had bacon on it. The bacon had no taste. The eggplant had no taste for ingredients thin, thin crust not much taste again. You can buy a good frozen pizza Dr it up and you'll have something that's probably better. What bothered me most is the lack of accountability, the lack of the manager, explaining that there was a glitch, perhaps offering people an appetizer while they waited. There was no manager. There doesn't seem to be any management at this establishment. Parking is an absolute nightmare for pick up. I think after a couple of months once people realize that the pies here are not that great that will go away, but if you want to try this now and you're ordering to pick up, just be prepared that you might have to park on the street and that you might be waiting an additional 30 minutes to an hour. read more

Food was ok. The first time we ordered delivery, it took an hour and a half to arrive, and was missing an item. Couldn't reach anyone at the store to report the missing item, the ordering platform doesn't let you speak to anyone to correct the charge. Tried it again tonight, picked up instead, and had to wait there for an hour and a half for it to be ready after the given pickup time. Ended up cancelling when they said it'll be another 20 minutes. Looks really nice inside though. read more

I've been there twice and the first time was great. Friendly hostess, friendly server. Good chicken caesar salad. Not great; but good. Hot oil pies were delicious. Second time: Hostess and server very friendly. Chicken caesar salad was good; like the first time. Hot oil pies had definitely come out of the oven too early and kept under a warmer. I had requested that the salads come first and they did. I requested that the pizzas not come out right away because we want some time to enjoy the salads without a cooling pizza taking up space on the table. The very friendly server said she'd be sure that the pizza would come out later and she accomplished this. But the pizza still went into the oven too early. And, then another server brought it to the table while we were clearly still working on out salads. The first server seemed a bit concerned it came out too soon because she tried to delay it but I told her not to worry. We definitely were well into the salads by that time. But the pizza just seemed like reheated-at-home pizza so, clearly, it sat waiting to be delivered to the table. Btw, this was around 5pm and the place was dead slow. It should be easy to time a simple order better. Finally, I ordered a happy hour margarita and it was VERY watery so little flavor. The well tequila was ok but a very weak amount. We will definitely return to try again and hope the pies come out when we want them and that they are fresh and hot out of the oven. The large salad and hot oil pizza were very good.....BUT....was it worth the 30 min it took for the salad to arrive after placing our order with Chris, our server and highlight of our dining experience, or the 50 min it took for the pizza to finally arrive???? Well, the answer is not really. This place needs a little time to get its act together. At one point I looked around and the 6 tables that I could see ( and our table of 2) were all waiting for our food to arrive for over 25 min! The problem was clearly in the kitchen and the young staff ( other than our experienced Chris) had no clue how to handle it. So they just disappeared ! One couple sat down next to us, looked around for 10 min- never had anyone come to their table and asked us how the food was. We said,"Ok if you don't mind waiting 50 min for a pizza". So they left! My best advice is- wait a while before trying this place; maybe they will get their **** together! read more

I am vegan. So I called to see if they offer vegan pizza options. The person on the phone said, "Hang on, let me check." She was apparently investigating the request. She comes back. Then, "Well, the menu doesn't list any vegan pizza, so probably not...But the salad could probably be revised to be made vegan." I'm sorry, what? I can look at the menu myself, thank you. I know nothing vegan is listed there. The reason for my call is to see if they can accommodate vegan palates like some modern restaurants are rumoured to do in faraway lands like Danbury and Wilton. I respond, "So, is the pizza dough made with dairy?" This was a complete head spinner for our gal. Frazzled, "Um, I, I, hang on." Sees passing man (manager, owner, waiter, customer, who knows). His name is Joe. "Joe, is our pizza dough vegan?" Joe infuses much needed clarity to this conversation on life support. "NO. NO. NO." I appreciate Joe's confidence, but that he seemed annoyed by my inquiry is disappointing. I was looking forward to a new addition to Ridgefield's pizza scene. Instead, I guess we have another brick on the wall of the morass that sees vegans as uppity, overly demanding, soapbox-y, or whatever. That is truer of non-vegans, I find, but fine, whatever; let's assume Joe's got legitimate reason to feel this way. It's one thing to express your frustration toward this perception if you're Joe Q walking down Route 7, but if you represent a new pizza business in a town saturated with pizza options, start fucking acting like it. read more
