Hands down one of the best restaurants in Hagerstown, if not the best. Everything about this place is perfect from the ambiance, to the food/drinks, to the service. They have a smaller menu but they run daily specials for lunch and dinner that are not menu items. These are some of the best items you can order in my opinion. The chef is very skilled and provides upscale dishes at a reasonable (not upscale) price. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here as well. The entire process went smoothly. We were given a menu to choose several options off of and even created an option solely for our dinner. On the day of the dinner we were greeted and found the restaurant had created a special menu specifically for our occasion with our names and wedding date on the menu. I have been to Rik's 4 times. The staff has been helpful with the rotating beer selections. The food has always been fresh and well prepared. The crab cake is all meat and my favorite. The filet melts in your mouth. The portions are not oversized but the quality is fantastic. read more

We arrived on a Sunday shortly after it opened. It was getting busy, but we were seated right away. I seen that other tables were reserved, so keep that in mind that reservations can be made. We ordered the Crab pretzel to share. It was good, but would be better if the crab was a dip and not on the pretzel. The pretzel becomes soggy. The table ordered a Havana Burger, a Bison Burger, a Chicken Cordon bleu Sandwich. They were all melt in your mouth wonderful. I had sweet potato fries that were awesome. My husband had the hand cut fries which were cold. He was disappointed. We shared a chocolate cake with peanut butter in the middle which was good but expensive. All over it was a really good meal. I like the style of cuisine that they serve at Riks Cafe the food is good and it's more upscale than what is common here in Hagerstown we've enjoyed eating here and we've been there several times and we will go again the service is friendly and the food is a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it. read more

5 Stars for Sure! The host didn't notice us right at first but the rest of the staff made up for it! Server was very attentive and helpful. And William was killing it with his jokes :) I didn't care for my first dish and when I sent it back the head chef himself brought me my crab cakes, which were PHENOMENAL! He took the time to make sure I was okay and wondered what he could do to improve. He seemed to really care about the business and the customers which, being in the restaurant business myself is very important to me. The waiting area was cozy and super comfy oversized couches were what we sat on instead of hard benches. Overall it was very clean and the bathrooms were super cute! Been here twice, everything is always good. No mistakes, not excessive wait time. Small, quiet atmosphere which I prefer. Amazing menu options. The blue cheese and bacon oysters are to die for, and the ahi poke is a really nice item you can't find anywhere else nearby. Service is prompt and friendly, not much else to say. Have seen the owners around on one of the visits which is always reassuring. Price is fair. All in all, really great place to eat! What a gem! I was looking for a place off the highway and I literally stumbled upon this place in a strip mall. From the outside, you'd have no idea. I had an excellent zesty crap bisque, crab cake sandwich, sweet potato fries with apple butter, and a (very fresh) DirtWolf Double IPA on tap from Victory. Food was absolutely lovely, well-presented and fresh, and the chef came around to ask me how everything was. Very reasonably priced; entrees less than $15. Half a dozen very solid beers on tap, can't remember beyond the Victory Double IPA, but there was an imperial stout, red, pale ale, saison and a couple of others. Mo'town music playing at the bar, and a great cappuccino for 'desert'. It's 5 minutes off the interstate. Worth your time. read more

WOW! Is all I can say. I would have never expected to find a bar like this in Hagerstown. We were traveling through to Baltimore and stopped because of the Yelp ratings. 7:30 on a busy Sunday night, we snagged 4 seats at the bar. Service was excellent considering how busy they were! Bartender was knowledgeable in regards to both the beer and food decisions of the kitchen. Not just recommending food, but also as to why they offered certain pairings and what was in season and fresh. LOVE the craft beer on tap and how none of their six taps were wasted on the same old staples you find at every bar. Food was great and well above bar fare. Ended the meal with the chef and part owner making the rounds, and he told us about their upcoming spring menu. All craft beer, fresh seasonal food, attention to detail... Just ate at Rik's for the first time. There were five in our party and we had a reservation. The restaurant was full and there were some patrons waiting to be seated. Reservations are highly recommended on Friday or Saturday evening. The wait-staff was prompt, friendly and efficient. While we had a waitress taking care of us, several of the staff stopped by our table regularly to see if we needed anything and to clear anything we were finished with. The waiters and waitress were all smiling, friendly and busy. They were constantly on the move tending to all customers. We had 2 ny strip steaks, a pulled pork sandwich and 2 marinated chicken dishes. All of the food was delicious and the portions were generous. The prices were very reasonable for quality food. The atmosphere was pleasant and casual. We might have stayed longer to visit and enjoy the ambience, but being a Friday evening and we could see that people were waiting, we left to give others a table. I've been here a couple times. There's usually a wait since it's a smaller establishment, but they take reservations if you plan ahead. The food is consistent and well prepared. My only complaint is that they never have the special of the day. Even at 6pm, they've noted that they're out of the special. Either they have very little of the ingredients for the daily special or there is no daily special. I agree with the previous reviews, you must get the sweet potato fries with the apple butter. Went for a quick dinner on a Friday night. The good news: the service was great, the beer was cold and tasty and the fried calamari appetizer was delicious. Now for the bad news: the burger was overcooked, dry and lacking any kind of seasoning. In addition the fries were not only cold but also not fresh. If you order the rice bowl and expect rice in a bowl with delicious veggies and seasoning, you will be disappointed. What you'll get is a small amount of completely flavorless rice, no salt even, that is not soft, fluffy or fresh but seems left over from maybe yesterday. Plus, you will get a small amount of vegetables and a tiny amount of sauce that is actually the only source of any flavor. We stopped in because, somehow, this place has many positive reviews, but we did not find the food appetizing and won't be back. read more

The wife and I stopped in after all of the good things that we've heard. It was EXCELLENT!!! I had the best NY strip steak that I have ever had. Vegetables were cooked just right and the plating was colorful. Fast service and our waitress was great. It was cool to be able to see the food prepared. She had a grilled chicken dish that she also enjoyed very much. I will say though, I really wish that they were in a location with higher traffic because they really deserve more exposure.
