I woke in the middle of the night really wanting good empanadas. Rincon Argentino came up and it's fairly close to home. When they opened at 10 a.m., I was there. I bought beef, chicken, spinach & cheese, and ham & cheese -- a total of 14. Their empanada pastry is similar to pizza dough, not a pie pastry, and they're baked, not fried. The dough is super thin and each is stamped with the a letter to denote what's inside. The fillings are very moist with excellent flavor. The long and the short of it is that these are EXCELLENT. I have no idea how much they cost each, but it was very reasonable. I ate one and then froze the bunch, parceled them into zip bags, and shared with my extended family. Reheat in the oven (on foil) at 350 degrees for 30 mins. Perfect and delicious. I had one for breakfast and have one left. Will head back asap to get more for the freezer. What an outstanding find! I came here for the first time about 10-12 years ago and thought the prices were a little higher than the other Argentinian market I used to go. Note back then, I used to live closer to the other market. It didn't make sense for me to drive here and pay more for the same products I could get at cheaper costs. Many years passed and we moved to Glendale/La Crescenta. Whenever I need something, I'd still drive thinking I was saving money, but the drive there is full of traffic and tedious. Last month, a friend of mine tried something at his friend's place and they told him it was from Rincon. He asked me to stop by there and check. WOW! Why was I driving so far when I had this little gem in my neighborhood? I'd rather pay a little more, but save gas and specially the time! The workers there are so nice! Quality of the meat is great! I recently did a BBQ and everyone was raving about the tenderness of the meat. I recommend their empanadas, meat, frozen products, wine. This place is amazing. The quality and freshness of their products is top notch. I like to try all of the little "hole in the wall" style places around town and this place is by far one of the absolute best. Delicious empanadas! I placed a large order of their small size empanadas last week and they were ready on time and very good! We ordered spinach, cheese, beef, chicken, and ham. The only type in our order I did not try was the chicken, but people said they were as tasty as the rest. My favorites are the spinach and beef, with the cheese coming in a close third. They also have corn and tomato-basil-cheese varieties that I did not order. The small size empanadas cost $9 per dozen. I believe the regular size are $1.25 each, or $14 per dozen. We treated ourselves to lunch when we dropped off our order. My boyfriend ordered a slice of the Argentinian pizza and quickly devoured it. I had the prosciutto sandwich and it was very good...and a hearty size! The french style roll it was served on was nice and fresh...the perfect combination of a crunchy exterior and chewy interior. The sandwich also had cheese (provolone?), lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple but perfect, letting the flavor of the prosciutto shine though. Our lunch items with two Argentinian sodas (a diet Materva and a Pomelo flavored soda) totaled about $11. A great lunch option, and the shop has lots of interesting imported items to try. read more

I love family run businesses like this one. It is my go to place for all my meats for when I do Argentine asados. Great empanadas as well. It has a surprisingly great wine selection - and some good wine deals too. The butcher is a master behind the counter! Classic Argentine pastries as well. Highly recommended! I always spend more than I expect to there (not because of the prices, but because I stack up too many things on the counter to take with me) but I get over it as soon as I get home and unpack the bag! Where to begin? The empanadas and everything on the menu is to die for. Really really good! I am so lucky that I live two blocks away from Rincon Argentino. The staff is super friendly and helpful. In fact, a classy gentleman from the store introduced me to the Catena Zapata wine collection. By far and without a doubt the best wine I have ever had. I regularly and proudly go here every Saturday to re-stock on wine and other goodies. Marinara is on the savory side and the whole milk mozzarella is melty, rich & smooth. Rincon Argentino is a small piece of Argentina smack dab in the east-side of Glendale approaching Eagle Rock. RA is a number of things: a Pizza Palace, an Empanada Emporium, a Meat Sandwich Joint, an Argentinian Grocery store with products which span all manner of retail items such as Soda Pop (you can buy an Inca Cola here) to Hairspray. But I dropped by for the Empanadas. and Empanadas i found. Very good empies: Spinach, Cheese (a favorite), Chicken, Beef, Ham. You can buy raw empanada dough here also and fill and bake them at home yourself. But: why would you want to as you can't beat the price: generally about a buck +. For me the dough is always paramount whether it is a Pizza or an Empanada. RA'S empanada dough is very good: flaky, slightly sweet and sturdy enough to be held warm in a pizza slice oven without going limp and overly moist: though when i was here the empies were flying out and probably did not have a chance to go south. My favorite is the Spinach (Espinacas) and Cheese which is supremely seasoned and chock full of onions, feta and of course well seasoned Spinach. Good deal. I also tried the much ballyhooed Steak Sandwich and i have to admit that it is pretty flavorful. Built on what looks like a Torta Roll sits a big flat perfectly grilled piece of flank that i ordered plain so as to immerse myself in the beauty of charred meat and luscious, french style bread. My friend had a Chicken Milanesa sammy which was light, flavors bright, the chicken and the coating of the chicken perfectly seasoned. I barely hit the surface of the menu here at the Rincon (which means corner but the RA is not on a corner, of course!). There are what appear to be delicious pastries. One in particular caught my eye: Is that a Canoli i asked my friend? On the surface it resembled one, what with the tube of dough and a filling that appeared to be velvety, creamy, custardy Whipped cream: though i would imagine/hope that Argentina's interpretation of Canolis is different from their brothers from Italy. A bit of history: during WW2 thousands of Italians fled to Argentina as well as Germans. Light and flakey, nice fillings. Catch of the day was the Chimichurri in a jar. NY steak tonight with a Le Cuvier Malbec. This is a good place. Blink and you will miss it. Even though the name is Rincon, it is not on a corner. Though this is a small market, they have some good quality produce/products here and for such a good price. I love that I can find empanada dough with simple ingredients not filled with a million preservatives, artificial colors, and dough fresheners. Small place but well organized. The chicken milanesa sandwich is really good. The pizza by slice has the perfect crust. You can get the dough ready for making empanadas, too. Nice selection of deserts, too. I haven't tried all the stuff they have but I will. Everything looks so tasty. I admit it. I haven't told a soul about Rincon for the fear of waiting in line to get my empenadas and Argentinian pizza. The empenadas here are the best you'll ever taste outside of Buenos Aires. They're incredibly fulfilling and astonishingly cheap. Flaky and hearty, they usually have about 5 types and they're all oh so very good but if I would have to choose my favorite it would be the beef or chicken. Their pizza is also very novel in Socal. With a thick soft crust and light toppings, it matches pizza you'll see anywhere but the states. Whether you're driving by, live 5 minutes or 5 lightyears away, Rincon is always worth the drive alone. read more

If you are having a BBQ.. please trust me on this, go in, and have Octavio hook you up with the Chorizo. You will thank me later. The entraa is also good as is the rest of their meat selection. They also have alot of regional Argentine selections in bread, cookies, wine, cheese, and small grocery knick knacks as well as tons of Maradona gear. If you're hungry for a bite, come in for a Milanesa or Chorizo sandwich. They also make others but these are my two faves. They are hefty and I believe they are about 4 or 5 dollars. They also have a good selection of empanadas. They have cheese and onion, Spinach, Beef, Chicken and I think they might have pork at times. They also have Pizza by the slice when they make it. If they have it, definitely try some. The empanadas are about a dollar each. I try to stay away from Glendale as much as I can but Rincon Argentino and Portos are a must. Best Argentine butcher shop in LA. In fact, it's my favorite butcher in LA period. Try the chorizos, morcilla, entraña, vacío, molleja (my absolute favorite), and costillas (ask for them to be cut thick). Also the provoleta is delicious (tasty cheese in itself, plus it's well seasoned) and ready to dazzle you straight off your grill while your meats cook. As for empanadas, we love them all, though our favorites are beef, jamon y queso, choclo, and espinaca. We often order empanadas de copetín for parties, and the big ones are great, too. Facturas are good here, too (and good variety). My only wish would be that they'd open earlier so I could get facturas earlier in the morning. But that's the mildest of mild complaints. Finally, do try the sandwich de milanesa for a delicious lunch or snack, as well as the sandwich de miga (which are great straight out of the wrapper or toasted). All are scrumptious. Oh, and the fresh alfajores de maicena are good, too. A box lasts about a day in our house.... Ditto for any of the bottles of Malbec or Bonarda that we pick up, whether impulsively or by plan. They have a good selection, so it's hard to resist. To top it off, the folks running the place are great. Love this place! read more

I can only attest to their empanadas -- but oooh man they're tasty. I trek out from Temple City/Arcadia area for their empanadas! And at $1.20 a pop, who can resist?! They're huge, probably about 5-6 inches in length. Two or three of these could fill you up! There's queso, spinach/cheese, corn, beef, chicken, and ham. This little deli/market is an easily overlooked gem. They sell Argentinian products, hence the name of the business. You can pop in an buy fresh bread, sandwiches or the empanadas that everyone keeps raving about. They seriously are out of this world good. I have only tried the spinach and chesse empanada. But let me tell you, you have not lived until you have. The sweet taste of the bread, along with the amazing taste of whatever type of empanada you ordered is awesome. There are no tables, so its an order your food and enjoy on the go type of meal. They also have a small selection of wine in stock. There is also a butcher where you can purchase argentinian cuts of meat. My bro in law and I always come here for the Entrana (Hanger steak or thick skirt steak), and the sausages. The entrana is a bit pricy per pound. But it is more than worth it. They sell bottles of chimichurry sauce that goes great with the meat once its cooked. We buy some of their fresh bread to enjoy with the sausages, grab some empanadas for the road, and your set! Once we are back at our place we fire up the grill, slow cook the sausages and entrana, crack open a few beers, and you have yourself a lovely situation. The meat is amazing quality from this place. The service is always good. It is a very tiny market and it get pretty crowded in there. But the butchers and cashiers always take time to answer any questions you may have. As far as parking goes, there is no parking lot, only street parking. Just be warned that if you plan to go on a Sunday, they close at 1:00pm. So wether you are planning to BBQ, or indulge in some great tasting pastries or sandwiches, you have to pay this place a visit! read more

And it's such a bonus they have the exotic sodas I sooo love:) I got some empanadas to take home to my family and I must say we all loved them:) I used to go to this other place in Western but lately they were lacking in flavor so I am so happy I found this gem. My favorite was the chicken, it's juicy and full of flavor. And the cheese empanadas, it's like you are eating a cheese calzone. Yummy!
