    Home made tortillas

Had the menudo and the embarrada with chicharron plus homemade tortillas very filling. Flavors are awesome, service is fast and while you wait check out the decor They open early in the morning and close early afternoon. Seating is tight, turn over fairly quick. Looking forward to working my way through the menu.

This place is amazing. Hands down the best chicharron I have ever had. You can taste that it's made with love and not just some food pumped out for a quick buck. The inside is also super cute with walls covered in knick knacks to check out while you wait. The staff is very friendly as well. Definitely my new favorite spot for good homemade food.

Embarrada con chicharrón with the green salsa

Rounding up from a 4.5. Having never heard of an embarrada before, I had to try it. I can understand some of the less than stellar reviews as the flavor profile is subtle... but also like amazing in its subtlety and richness. Also texturally, the embarrada con chicharrón with the green salsa is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The chicharrón offered a perfectly almost pillowy crunch that really stood out in the bites of delicious homemade tortilla and thick smear of beans and sauce. I got a side of the red salsa to add an even bigger kick to the meal. I came back to try the burrito with the chicharrón within the same week- also phenomenal! Thanks for serving up some wonderful, authentic Mexican food! And working hard to continue offering food up safely during this pandemic!

Been living in Atwater for over 17 years. I can't believe I just tried this little gem. My son asked me why we never tried this place before. Our favorite is the Embarada de Chicharon.

This is the real deal. Local restaurant family owned. Menudo and chicharone tostada.

My first time in this place. It's a hole in the wall almost a hidden gem. The food is comforting and fresh and delicious! I had the embarrada with chicharron. SO SO GOOD

The Decour has not changed in over 30 years thank goodness the food hasn't either. It's soooo goooood!

Love this place. Family has been coming here for over 35 years & in the entire time I've been here I've never see the decor change. Their food is amazing (albeit not very healthy). And check out their collection of clocks above & around the entryway wall. Street parking can be difficult on a busy weekend morning. ***CASH ONLY!!!!!***

I had already attacked this meal : )

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

It really felt like I transported to Tulum or some paradise. Service was good, attentive. The food however..my friend and I found it very salty all around. I had to balance the saltiness with water!! It's rare to find a restaurant that maintains such a high standard year after year, but DAMA does exactly that. I truly love this place and can't recommend it enough. Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

The booths had huge pillows that made them surprisingly comfortable and inviting. They also have a huge selection of alcohol, including plenty of mezcal options. Parking is available through street parking, valet, or a nearby lot for $9. Salsa Molcajete -- $7 The portion was smaller than I expected, but the spice level was just right. The salsa had a very smooth consistency and came with a good amount of tortillas. The tortillas were thin and crispy, which I really enjoyed. Aguachile de Camarón -- $18 A good variety of ingredients came with the aguachile, including red onion, cucumber, tomato, and radish. Each added a different flavor and texture, which made the dish more interesting. It leaned a little sweet for my taste, but the shrimp itself was cooked perfectly with a great texture. Daisy's Branzino -- $28 The branzino was a little smaller than expected, but this ended up being my favorite dish. The greens on the side added a nice freshness, while the crispy skin gave the fish a great texture. The guacamole was also a really good addition and elevated the dish. It was slightly on the salty side, but overall, the flavors worked really well together. Carne a la Parrilla -- $58 We ordered the steak medium and it came out cooked to perfection. The meat was tender with a good amount of char flavor, and the accompanying sauce paired really well with it. The flaky salt on top was a particularly nice touch and added just the right amount of seasoning. Virgin Horchata Pretty standard horchata and nothing particularly unique. It had a heavier cinnamon flavor, which was nice if you enjoy cinnamon-forward horchata. Virgin Jamaica & Mango This was much more refreshing. It tasted very fresh, almost like the flavors came directly from the fruit and plants themselves. Definitely my favorite of the two non-alcoholic drinks. Overall, Mirate is definitely worth checking out for the atmosphere and presentation. The outdoor seating is beautiful and comfortable, and while some of the portions were smaller than expected, the quality and flavors of the food were generally very good. The Daisy's Branzino and Carne a la Parrilla were my standouts.
